Older sister of actresses Deborah Scorsone and Caterina Scorsone.

Twin sister of Jovanna Scorsone. Also has a younger brother.

Sister-in-law of composer Rob Giles.

Has served in the War in Afghanistan as an officer and chaplain in the Canadian Army, having attained the rank of major, and is still in active service as of 2022.

Her niece Paloma Michaela Giles (daughter of actress Caterina Scorsone) has Down syndrome. Francesca's other nieces include Eliza Giles and Arwen Lucinda Giles (also daughters of Caterina) and Carmen Zoë Scorsone (daughter of actress Deborah Scorsone).

A Toronto native, she studied drama at Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts before attending the University of Toronto for philosophy and Christianity and Culture. Before studying at the Toronto School of Theology, she did a year of mission work abroad.

Her ancestry is Italian (father) and Swedish, English, and Scottish (mother).
