After nearly a decade, Kate Del Castillo will reprise her role as Teresa Mendoza in the return of the Narco drama La Reina del Sur, set to debut in 2019 on Telemundo. The original story, based on the novel of the same by Arturo Perez-Reverte, follows Mendoza’s climb to the top of the male-dominated Narco world that trafficked drugs on a global scale.
Joining Del Castillo in the new season, which shot on location in seven countries, are a mix of returning actors and new multilingual, international talent including Raoul Bova (Under the Tuscan Sun), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Paola Nuñez (The Son), Antonio Gil (Quantum of Solace), and legendary novela actor Humberto Zurita.
The series will pick up eight years after the events of the finale where audiences learned that Mendoza was pregnant and unsure of her future. When La Reina returns, audiences learn she’s disappeared into the U.

Mexican actress Itati Cantoral has given birth to her third child in a Mexico City hospital.
The baby girl, named Maria, was born on Thursday, according to PeopleEnEspanol.com. The website adds the 33-year-old underwent a drama-free C-section.
National reports suggest the former wife of actor Eduardo Santamarina has already sold the exclusive first picture rights of her daughter to a Mexican magazine.
Maria is the first child from Cantoral's marriage to Carlos Alberto Cruz. She and Santamarina are the parents of twin boys Jose Eduardo and Roberto Miguel.
Santamarina infuriated his ex-wife earlier this year when he revealed the sex of her unborn baby.
The actress demanded he pay the fee she would have received from a media outlet for exclusive rights to the information.

Mexican actor Eduardo Santamarina has infuriated ex-wife Itati Cantoral after revealing the sex of her unborn baby.
Santamarina - who married Cantoral in 2000, but later divorced - recently admitted that she was expecting a little girl.
And once his former wife - and mother two his twin boys - realised, she demanded he pay the fee she would have received from a media outlet for exclusive rights to the information.
She tells PeopleEnEspanol.com, "I wanted to put an ad in the (magazine) Periférico, and they were even going to give me some money, but that's a bust now. In truth Televisa had the exclusive rights. So, now it's a girl! Pay me, pay me, pay me!"
Cantoral has revealed, however, that she will name her daughter Maria.
