Olympic gold medallists Tessa Sanderson (pictured above), Denise Lewis, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson and other medal-winning Olympians such as Jamie Baulch and Mark Foster joined London 2012 competitors Christian Malcolm and Dwain Chambers at the UK film premiere of Salute.
Former World Champion boxer Chris Eubanks and former top-flight footballers Garth Crooks and Paul Elliot Cbe also attended.
Salute is a documentary about the untold story of the three Olympians on the winning podium at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City - Tommie Smith and Jon Carlos, aided by Australian silver medallist Peter Norman - who made a stand for human rights.
Gold medallist Smith and bronze winner Carlos raised their fists in a controversial Black Power salute and all three wore badges for The Olympic Project for Human Rights.
The array of sports stars attending the premiere were paying tribute to the famous trio.

Dancing on Ice has released details of its first ever Olympic heroes special Going for Gold. A selection of Olympic sporting heroes will be challenged by Torvill & Dean to tackle ice-dancing for the first time and will be judged by the ITV1 reality show's regular panel of Louie Spence, Katarina Witt and Robin Cousins. The new series of Celebrity Masterchef opened to 4.6m on Wednesday evening, according to overnight audience figures. The cooking show's first episode, which featured six celebrities including former athlete Tessa Sanderson and radio DJ Nihal, averaged 4.67m (22.3%) on BBC One in the 8pm hour. Dragons' Den pulled in 2.95m (12.9%) on BBC Two in the 9pm hour, with a further 136k (0.6%) watching on BBC HD. New series Penguin Island appealed to 3.33m (18.5%) on BBC One between 7.30pm and 8pm. Later on the channel, Traffic Cops took 3.7m (16.2%) from 9pm. On ITV1, Midsomer Murders averaged 3.97m (18.5%) between 8pm and 10pm, up 160k week-on-week. Actor Neil Stuke and soap star Alex Fletcher have progressed to the second round on Celebrity MasterChef. The duo knocked out Dragons' Den entrepreneur Richard Farleigh, Radio 1 DJ Nihal Arthanayake and athlete Tessa Sanderson after a series of cooking challenges, judged by hosts Greg Wallace and John Torode. In the final test, Fletcher served up a chicken pot pie with carrots and green beans, followed by apple, cinnamon and pecan nut crumble with homemade vanilla custard. Torode praised her main course, commenting: "I think that is a really comforting, really warming and it makes you feel good inside." Wallace added: "This tastes great. This is a winner." Former football manager and pundit Ron Atkinson has signed up to star in a new episode of Celebrity Wife Swap, reports The Sun. The ex-Manchester United boss, who was forced to leave ITV after a race row in 2004, will spend a week living with athlete Tessa Sanderson.
