As she teeters on the brink of suicide herself, she encounters a mysterious young girl caked in dirt. It is quickly revealed that the girl has telekinetic powers and might be the harbinger of the apocalyptic prophecy that exists within town legend.

The familiar proverb “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” comes to mind in director David Hebrero‘s Everyone Will Burn, a stunning technicolor horror fable set in contemporary Spain. A small town’s attempts to thwart an apocalyptic prophecy instead unwittingly fester over forty years before the film’s events, creating seismic repercussions in the present.
Hebrero, who co-wrote with Javier Kiran, is less interested in the prophecy itself and more in how the concept of evil turns the town inside out. In Hebrero and lead actor Macarena Gómez’s capable hands, Everyone Will Burn offers a devilishly compelling depiction of religious mania run amok.
After the opening text explains the town prophecy, Everyone Will Burn introduces María José right as she’s preparing to step off a ledge and end her pain. She’s stopped by the sudden arrival of a strange girl, Lucía (newcomer Sofía García), caked in muck.

Rodolfo Sancho Aguirre’s son Daniel Sancho Bronchalo has pleaded guilty for the murder of his boyfriend Edwin Arrieta Arteaga and has been charged with premeditated murder and concealing and removing body parts to cover up a death. According to The Mirror, the 29-year old was arrested last week and when presented to court he pleaded guilty to the murder of his boyfriend Arteaga.
Bronchalo was charged with dismembering his boyfriend, whose remains were found strewn across multiple locations on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand.
He also told the Spanish news agency Efe that his late boyfriend had taken him “hostage” and that he was obsessed with him. His guilty plea comes less than a week after Sancho filed a missing people report at a Koh Phangan police station.

If you’re craving a Da Vinci Code sort of movie but don’t want to concentrate quite that hard, The Man From Rome may be your answer. The plot, penned by Adrian Bol, Beth Bollinger and Gretchen Cowan, is very Dan Brownian but shorter and with fewer moving pieces and locations. Hunky Richard Armitage stars as a Vatican troubleshooting priest who we quickly understand to be the Church’s go-to guy for dangerous missions. Not so much for gruesome cleanups like Harvey Keitel’s memorable Mr. Wolf, in Pulp Fiction but where there’s a problem, Armitage’s Father Quart is reliable for a solution. The film opens with his being bummed about someone he was unable to protect on a recent job. Not his fault but guilt lingers, regardless.

"The deaths – are they accidents... or murder?" Screen Media Films has unveiled the official trailer for a thriller titled The Man from Rome, which is the English title given to this Spanish film starring Richard Armitage in Italy. This already opened in Europe last year under the original Spanish name La Piel Del Tambor, though it doesn't seem like it's good enough to get a proper theatrical release in the US. Vatican intelligence operative Father Quart (Richard Armitage) investigates an anonymous message sent to the pope concerning a crumbling Spanish church that "kills to defend itself". Sent to Seville to investigate, a deep conspiracy unfolds that puts Father Quart's loyalty and his faith to the test. Armitage co-stars with Amaia Salamanca, Paul Guilfoyle, Paul Freeman, Rodolfo Sancho, Fionnula Flanagan, Carlos Cuevas, along with Franco Nero as "El Papa", The Pope. This looks so wacky - Vatican hackers, a priest with a gun,...

"It's not just a lullaby. It's a prophecy... and omen." Drafthouse Films posted their official US trailer for a Spanish horror thriller film titled Everyone Will Burn, originally called Y Todos Arderán in Spanish. This played at the Alamo Drafthouse's Fantastic Fest last fall and the same trailer originally debuted back then, but with Drafthouse Films finally opening this in theaters this summer it's time to give it another look. In a small village in Leon, María José prepares to end her life after failing to get over the death of her son. Everything changes when she is visited by Lucía, a strange little girl who might just be connected to a local legend about the apocalypse. That's quite an enticing pitch! Macarena Gómez and Sofía García co-star as María José and Lucía, along with Rodolfo Sancho, Ana Milán, Rubén Ochandiano, and Germán Torres. This looks pretty gnarly, stay...

AMC Networks Intl. Latin America has acquired Rtve hit, Spanish-Portuguese thriller “Sequía,” which will be broadcast throughout the region on its Europa Europa channel.
The story centers on the mystery behind two mummified corpses – apparent murder victims — that are discovered when a long submerged village emerges from the drying Campomediano reservoir along the Spanish-Portuguese border during a prolonged drought (“sequía” in Spanish).
While a Spanish inspector and investigative reporter suspect the bodies may be linked to environmental protests that took place to prevent the creation of the reservoir, a Portuguese detective is secretly investigating the possibility that one of the deceased could be the heir to the Souza Cardoso fortune who disappeared years ago.
Weaving between two time periods, the late 1990s and the present, when secrets begin to be revealed, the story follows two influential families in Spain and Portugal who inhabit beautiful areas of both countries as well...

Principal photography is just about to wrap on this independent film toplined by Macarena Gómez, Rodolfo Sancho, Rubén Ochandiano and Ana Milán. “A spiritual successor to Rosemary’s Baby” is how David Hebrero describes his second feature following Dulcinea, a horror-drama entitled Y todos arderán (lit. “And They’ll All Burn”). In addition, the filmmaker asserts that it will emit whiffs of the Italian giallo and Spanish fantaterror genres, as well as absorbing and exuding unashamedly obvious influences from the juggernauts of contemporary fantastical film, such as Álex de la Iglesia, Ari Aster and Robert Eggers (The Witch). As a result, expectations are sky-high. And it’s surely for this very reason that the cast, comprising Macarena Gómez, Rodolfo Sancho (whom we...

There is no man more dangerous than a man with facial hair and a shotgun. This is a lesson American learned in the 1970s thanks to Charles Bronson and Enrique Urbizu clearly never forgot.Urbizu is the director of No Peace For The Wicked (No Habra Paz Para Los Malvados), an upcoming 'tough cop with big gun' movie coming out of Spain. José Coronado, Rodolfo Sancho, and Helena Miquel star in the sort of story we've seen many times before - a police inspector is part of a shootout that leaves three people dead and the suspect on the run, thereby casting suspicion on himself - but one that is always fun when executed with style. And Urbizu certainly seems to have that. Check the...

The collection focuses on Latin American freedom fighters key to their respective countries independence from Spain and is timed to coincide with the bicentennial of most of South America's independence from the colonial power.
Produced by Tve, Wanda Films and Lusa Films, the eight feature films are independent of one another, cost a minimum of €1 million and will be co-financed by local producers from each country -- in addition to receiving funding from the Ibermedia Latin American co-production fund.
The projects will turn on different aspects of various freedom fighter's lives, depending entirely on the scriptwriter and director, according to Wanda Films' Jose Maria Morales.
"There is no connecting thread other than they are all liberators of Latin America," Morales said.
