Philippe Krakowsky will take over next year as CEO of New York ad giant Interpublic Group, the latest of the world’s big marketing-services conglomerates to enact a succession plan as the industry grapples with seismic changes in the way its business is conducted.
Krakowsky, 58 years old, was named chief operating officer of the ad-agency holding company in September of last year. He is widely seen within Interpublic as one of the architects of a strategy that is taking this longtime backer of big Madison Avenue shingles like McCann Worldgroup, MullenLowe Group and the agency once known as Foote Cone & Belding and putting it into the world of curating data that helps its clients understand where and how best to place promotional efforts before consumers. Interpublic in 2018 purchased the bulk of Acxiom Corp. for $2.3 billion, a move that gave it access to new expertise in using anonymous consumer data and...

As more and more information is revealed about the five fatalities and even more injuries from a mass shooting today at Annapolis’ the Capital Gazette Newspaper, the Los Angeles Police Department is putting some extra attention on media outlets in the City of Angels.
“As an abundance of caution, we are having patrol officers check bases with local media offices in their area,” Lapd Officer Norma Eisen told Deadline this afternoon. Under the guidance of new Chief Michael Moore, the department also took to social media to share its move:
#Lapd is closely monitoring the Annapolis Capital Gazette shooting. There is no direct threat at this time. We are reaching out to our media partners as a precautionary measure. We encourage Los Angeles to trust your instincts. If you see something, say something.

The Voice blind auditions continued, with showstopper Sisaundra Lewis getting the coveted four-chair turn around and 'The Brothers Walker,' an identical twin duo, making it on Team Usher.
The Voice blind auditions part 3 kicked off with a four-chair turn around for Ryan Whyte Maloney, 33. A rocker currently trying to make it in Las Vegas, Maloney got Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Shakira to turn around almost right away with his rendition of Journey’s “Lights.” Usher followed towards the end of the song, but it didn’t matter. In the end, Maloney went with Blake because he said, that’s what his son would tell him to do.
Next up was the sweet family guy, Deshawn Washington, 23, who left college after one semester to help take care of his family. Deshawn brought some fun and light to The Voice stage with “Twistin’ the Night Away” by Sam Cooke. Surprisingly,...

It's week two of Season 6 of "The Voice" and the blind auditions continue along. Those teams aren't going to fill themselves, after all. So who did coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton turn around for on Monday (March 3)? Not too many, it felt like. Without further ado, let's get to it.
First up is Ryan Whyte Maloney, a trash collector and father of two from Las Vegas whose ex-wife took his kids and moved them to Florida, which is one of the sadder stories I've heard in a while. He takes the stage with Journey's "Lights" and he sounds really great. He gets a four-chair turn, easily.
"We're a match made in Heaven and I think we should be together," Shakira tells him. Ryan's response: "I'm gonna keep that in my memory forever." In the end, though, he makes his choice with his kids in mind: "I have...

Chicago White Sox pitcher Phil Humber threw the first perfect game in the major leagues since 2010 during Saturday's (April 21) matchup against the Seattle Mariners.
The 29-year-old Humber is an unlikely member of the perfect-game club -- he's the 21st player to join -- and is a relative unknown, earning a little more than the league minimum of $480,000 a year and playing for his fourth major league team in seven years.
The final pitch of the game came with some controversy. Mariners shortstop Brendan Ryan was called out on a checked swing on a pitch that would have been ball four and thus broken up the perfect game.
The White Sox beat the Mariners with a score of 4-0.

In addition to his experience with Irish comedies, his openness during the audition process helped Brendan Ryan land the title role in Shadow Lawn Stage's summer production of Hugh Leonard's "The Au Pair Man," at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J."The audition experience for me is always fun," says the Equity actor. "I tend maybe not to focus like I should on the text as other actors do. I hate that feeling of overthinking when I go over and over the text…. One thing that helped was that there were more women than men, so I got to read more than just once and do things differently each time, because each actress was different. I love that opportunity to read more than once." As opposed to making a conscious choice to vary his readings, Ryan made himself receptive to what the other person in the scene...
