When Richard Donner’s The Omen came out in 1976, it was at the tail end of a recent wave of demonic, faith-based horror. Less than three years earlier, William Friedkin’s The Exorcist became one of the highest grossing films ever, and both movies likely got their greenlight because Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby chilled audiences to the bone in 1968 by showing a mother slowly realize she is giving birth to the Antichrist.
So nearly 50 years later, it seems kind of appropriate that The Omen returns to that initial influence in this year’s The First Omen, a devilish prequel if we’ve ever heard of one. In the new movie, director and co-writer Arkasha Stevenson makes her feature debut after helming prestige genre shows like Legion. She offers an alternative vision from the Rosemary template about how the Antichrist comes into the world. The logline of the picture...

Despite what Hollywood wants us to believe, not every movie ever made needs a sequel. This did not stop the studios from trying their hardest to churn them out, leaving movie fans with only one solution: forget the sequel exists. It’s a useful technique, but, ironically, it doesn’t work on the worst films. We can say to each other, for example, that Highlander II: The Quickening never happened all we want. In our broken, battered souls though, we know it exists. And it sucks so much. The memory endures, like a cinematic kidney stone.
Trying to forget works best on sequels so middling, or cynically shoveled out that there’s not much for our memories to grab on to. If we do remember them, it’s with a befuddled “how the hell did that happen?” or a “they got A-list actors for that?” kind of awe. And then we forget about them again.

Once again, celebrities went all-out for their Halloween party looks — and seemingly didn’t given a second thought to those SAG-AFTRA rules against specific pop culture costumes for striking actors (which even Saturday Night Live mocked). Below is a roundup of the most striking looks, from Halloween queen Heidi Klum’s incredible velvet peacock to Ed Sheeran’s murder doll Chucky, as well as Adele’s Morticia Addams and Zoë Kravitz as Mia Farrow’s character from Rosemary’s Baby.
Klum told The Hollywood Reporter her costume took six hours to put on. “I wanted to do something with a lot of people, so when we’re all crunched together in a certain position we become one,” she said. “And I thought of a peacock because you can fan out, and I wanted to do it with artists and acrobats.”

If you’ve seen any horror movie, it’s no secret some of our favorite classics fall into sexist tropes, most often with the final girl in slashers being innocent and virginal while her counterpart that engages in “sinful” behavior gets the ultimate punishment.
Instead of submitting to the male gaze, these feminist horror flicks and thrillers pave a way forward for the genre, one that encourages complex female relationships, destigmatizes female sexuality and fights to avenge patriarchal society that has oppressed these female heroines for ages.
Here are 13 feminist horror movies to kick off spooky season, because what’s scarier than not defeating the patriarchy?

Directed by Robert C. Anderson Jr., the film Bite the Dust is an action comedy. Despite being well-stocked with comic elements, the film gives out a very strong message to its audiences about atrocities that were committed against children in the 18th century. The plot involves two well-known bounty killers, Waco and Dutch, who have joined hands with a young lady to save the lives of some children working in a mine factory. The story of how they overcame a cruel baron to save the lives of the orphans has been well depicted in Bite the Dust. The American film has relied on well-known actors like Heather Wake, George Nelson, Russell Clay, and others for a proper execution of the movie, which they have done justice to. We are yet to find out whether the multiple series of events helped save the children from the brutal baron’s clutches or not.

You don't have to guess that my heart is in the pit of my stomach after When Calls the Heart Season 10 Episode 11.
The show will never be the same after "Long Time Running," but in some ways, it's going to go back to the beginning.
As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Is there anything more unappetizing than predictability, though?
If you want a full recap of what happened during the hour, you can click the link in the lead paragraph and check out the When Calls the Heart Quotes for some detailed dialogue.
With this article, I'll be discussing why this story falls flat and a lot of other good stuff.
We saw it coming as far back as When Calls the Heart Season 10 Episode 9, but now it's a reality -- Lucas is running for Governor, and there is no way in the world he won't win.

Season one of “Shining Vale” introduced Pat and Terry Phelps, a dysfunctional family that tried to run from their problems by moving their kids into a Victorian mansion in small-town Connecticut. The only problem? It may be haunted. Once settled in, Pat encountered Rosemary, a demon who possessed her body and turned her life upside down. When the family steps in to “save” Pat, they commit her to a psychiatric hospital where she sees an old photo of a nurse who looks just like her demon Rosemary.
Season two kicks off four months later, when Pat’s insurance runs out and she is released from the psychiatric hospital early. Pat returns home, determined to pick up the pieces of her broken family, but she quickly finds out her children don’t need her, Terry doesn’t remember her and to make matters worse, Pat’s new neighbor Ruth looks exactly like Rosemary.

When strangers arrive in Hope Valley, trouble often follows. That’s certainly the case with Madeleine St. John. In last week’s episode of When Calls the Heart Season 10, the widowed mother broke Bill’s heart when he discovered she was secretly engaged. Hope Valley is just like anywhere else.
People are living and learning along the way. Mistakes are made, and promises are broken, but through the spirit of community and relying on one another, they find a way to forgive and move on.
When Calls the Heart Season 10 Episode 8 suggests a more significant story coming as Rosemary hopes to make Hope Valley an essential stop on the political campaign trail at the same time Mr. Montague's team is tearing up the countryside, and a large trestle bridge begins production outside of town.
Hope Valley is growing, and Rosemary recognizes that their voices have a right to be heard just like everyone else's.
Part of her plan to lure the governor to Hope Valley to hear their voices is to make them heard musically.
Through their brief experience with tourism, they've learned that you have to make your little slice of heaven...

The Hulu original docu series titled Never Let Him Go, directed by Jeff Dupre, revolves around a brother’s pursuit of justice and his stand against violence targeting homosexuals. Steve Johnson, a resident of Los Angeles, tragically lost his brother Scott while Scott was studying at Canberra University in Australia nearly 32 years ago. Overcoming numerous obstacles, Steve tenaciously worked towards bringing the perpetrator to justice. After years of dedication, he successfully ensured that the perpetrator was imprisoned. This four-part documentary series portrays Steve’s commitment and the emotional journey that he and his family endured.
What Happened To Scott Johnson?
The documentary series began by showing old videos of Steve, his brother Scott, and their sister Terry reminiscing about their happy times together. Steve and Scott were both very dedicated to their studies and had promising futures. Steve pursued his education, earning a degree and even going on to get a doctorate.

Below is a first look at AHS: Delicate, the 12th edition of the FX anthology hit.

So, when she learned last season that she and her husband Lee (Kavan Smith) were expecting, it was cause for great joy, especially since they’d almost given up hope of being able to have a baby. Sometimes, it takes fresh eyes to help us decipher the root or the heart of the problem.
On When Calls the Heart Season 10 Episode 6, Lucas and Elizabeth taught the children the fine art of negotiation and compromise. When the children became upset, the tourists had overtaken the hot springs. Rosemary struggled with grieving her mom now that she was a new mom.
While these storylines differed, the characters had to find the central issue before moving on. Let's begin.
Since Cooper discovered the hot springs, they've become a bustling tourist attraction. While Angela admitted having more tourists meant more business for their parents, the younger children only cared that their swimming hole had been overtaken.
Cooper: All everybody talks about is how the tourists have a right to be up there.
Angela: But a lot of people have benefitted from the tourists, including our parents.

Give Joe Leaphorn credit for finding a way to get justice for his murdered son, J.J.
But he didn't exactly go through proper channels to do so on Dark Winds Season 2 Episode 6.
Although he didn't need to be told about the concepts, Joe was caught between white man's justice and Indian justice.
Fortunately, he had his father, Henry, the former Navajo police chief, on hand to explain the situation to him.
Henry has been an enjoyable character addition in Dark Winds Season 2. He had Joe's job before him, and he doesn't hesitate to tell his son what he's doing wrong. That trait was on display on Dark Winds Season 2 Episode 2.
Fortunately, in this episode we saw a different side of their relationship when Joe consulted Henry as the man who had previously been in his shoes.

In the fifth episode of Dark Winds, we saw Leaphorn capture Colton, trying to force him to reveal the truth about his employer. But Colton cunningly evaded justice and managed to escape while he was being transferred to the Feds. Gordo Sena was severely injured in the process, and in this final episode, we saw him end up at the hospital. The truth about the person responsible for the Drumco Oil explosion is finally revealed in the endgame of Dark Winds season 2, which was quite predictable because the series made it very evident from the beginning. However, the season’s conclusion was not all about the satisfying ending of a murder mystery; it was rather about how white justice looked for the people of the Navajo. Their form of justice differed from “white justice”, since white people never truly cared about the Native Americans.

Lt. Joe Leaphorn is no closer to discovering the answers he seeks.
That was despite finally being able to interrogate the man he believes killed his son J.J. on Dark Winds Season 2 Episode 5.
That really wasn't Joe's fault. He was just dealing with a man who is a nutjob.
At least we finally got a peak into what made Wolf into the murderer he's become.
It appears that when Wolf was a boy, his mother shot and killed his father and his sister. Wolf discovered this grisly fact upon returning home one day.
However, despite Leaphorn's best efforts, how Wolf went from there to blowing up the Drumco oil drilling site remained a mystery.
It didn't help that Joe was suddenly under the gun to gain whatever information he could from Wolf.
That was because Gordo rolled in with an outstanding warrant for Wolf covering previous murders in another county.

Ivy Snitzer has screen presence – even on Zoom – with her safety pin earrings, nose piercing and reddish-purpleish hair. Yet no one saw her face in the hit film. Hope springs eternal, even if not everyone is on board.
When Calls the Heart Season 10 Episode 2 found Elizabeth and Lucas on the same page, Rosemary helping Lee score an essential contract, Bill's miraculous springs-related recovery, and the thought that tourism may be Hope Valley's salvation.
Let's dig in!
The springs are working miracles whether someone takes a dip or not.
They've proven to be medicinally valuable, but even better, they provide a reason for the community to gather and share what's most important to them -- supporting one another and enjoying each other's company.
That was something that Elizabeth's Aunt Agatha and sister Julie needed to understand about Hope Valley before they returned to Hamilton with the news Elizabeth and her fiance Lucas would not be returning with them.
I hear the family’s coming to meet you. Good luck with that!

Joe Leaphorn isn't making much headway yet on solving the car-bomb murder of Emerson Charley, is he?
Instead, finding the belt buckle J.J. was wearing when he died near where Tomas Charley supposedly left B.J. Vines' lockbox sent Joe further down the rabbit hole on Dark Winds Season 2 Episode 2.
First, the good news: Jim Chee survived being shot in the shoulder on Dark Winds Season 2 Episode 1. He also managed to survive being dragged back to civilization by Joe. Barely.
Joe almost didn't make it himself. He threw himself in front of a semi cab to make the driver, who hadn't intended to, stop. Jim didn't have much time left.
Once Joe got Jim the medical attention he required, he was off again on his investigation, with J.J.'s belt buckle serving as an extra incentive for him, as if he needed one.
He immediately threw Bern in the most awkward of situations,...

In the previous episode of Dark Winds, a local man named Emerson Charley was killed in a car explosion, and Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn considered it a premeditated murder rather than an accident. Colton Wolf, a blonde, white man, was the killer who had been orchestrating these murders, making himself a target for Leaphorn and Chee. Although Chee was no longer part of the Navajo authority, he worked as a private investigator hired by Rosemary Vines to retrieve a lockbox from the Charleys. As Leaphorn and Chee teamed up to get the box, they faced Colton, resulting in an encounter where Chee got injured. However, despite a fierce altercation, both parties survived. In this newest episode, Joe Leaphorn would uncover a shocking truth about his son’s death, which was connected to the series of attacks orchestrated by Colton Wolf.

It’s relatively rare for a scripted series to last more than 10 seasons, especially in this day and age. But When Calls the Heart has done it. The show’s 10th season premiered on July 30, and the series has already been renewed for season 11.
“It feels so good to hit 100 episodes. I’m so happy,” said series star Erin Krakow in a video shared by Hallmark Channel (via YouTube).

Will Nathan Grant finally get lucky in love in When Calls the Heart Season 10? Hope Valley’s resident Mountie hasn’t yet found the right woman, but there’s still hope, says actor Kevin McGarry.
Nathan’s ‘heart has always been open,’ Kevin McGarry says
After he arrived in town in When Calls the Heart Season 6, Nathan fell hard for widowed schoolteacher Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow). At first, it seemed like a romance might blossom. But then Elizabeth discovered her heart was drawn instead to saloon owner Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally). She gently let Nathan down in the season 8 finale, then confessed her feelings to Lucas.
It took some time for Nathan to get over Elizabeth’s rejection. But in season 9, it seemed he might find love with Mei Sou (Amanda Wong), the town’s new pharmacist. However, despite plenty of flirty vibes, they aren’t officially an item. Mei...

Back in the 1980s, the term “home video” actually referred to movies that had been transferred to honest-to-goodness analog videocassette tape. Keen-eyed genre mavens would excitedly trawl the aisles of their local emporium, often choosing between titles based on little more than lurid cover art and advertising hype.
One of the premier purveyors of the most cherished low-budget, unabashedly lowbrow entertainments was Charles Band’s Empire Pictures, staffed by a tightly knit “band of outsiders” whose names crop up time and again across the studio’s roster of deliriously enjoyable sci-fi and horror films. As it happens, Empire was a pure product of the decade, founded in 1983 and defunct by 1989, when it made way for Band’s next (and still flourishing) endeavor: Full Moon Features. Now, the fine folks at Arrow Video have gathered together a bumper crop of Empire’s output in their lavishly produced box set Enter the Video Store: Empire of Screams.
