The 5 Best Western Episodes Of The Twilight Zone
Image
For a science fiction series, "The Twilight Zone" had an incredibly broad range of genres that it pulled from. War stories, space adventures, horror tales, post-apocalyptic sagas, and tons of other settings popped up in all five seasons of Rod Serling's acclaimed anthology masterpiece. The series also featured several prominent Western-themed episodes, each with a distinct "Twilight Zone" twist.

Serling seemed to have a soft spot for the cowboy genre. After "The Twilight Zone" came to an end in 1964, he quickly followed it up with a full-blown Western series called "The Loner," which premiered on CBS the next year. "The Loner" was short-lived, but it made clear the affinity Serling had for Westerns, and "The Twilight Zone" has plenty of stories to choose from set in the old American West.

While everyone has their favorite "Twilight Zone" episodes, these particular Western episodes have stood the test of time and...

All Of Kurt Russell's Movies With John Carpenter, Ranked
Image
Name a more iconic duo than John Carpenter and Kurt Russell. Sure, they may not have collaborated on a film in decades, but back in the '80s, they were a lethal pairing, especially when it came to stylish genre films. In total, the pair made five movies together between 1979 and 1996. And today, we're going to rank them.

While Carpenter first gained fame as a horror auteur (the genre for which he's still best known today), he's directed all sorts of movies over the years, and his collaborations with Russell are great examples of that. Only one of the duo's films is a horror flick, while the others span the realms of biopic, science fiction, action-adventure, and comedy. It's an eclectic mix, to be sure, but also a solid one.

Of course, we're splitting hairs a bit on some of these (though we all know what the best one is...

This Forgotten 31-Year-Old Movie Featured the Cinematic Debut of 1 of Hollywood’s Biggest Stars
Image
Mark Wahlberg has come a long way since his days as Marky Mark in Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. With an over three-decade-long acting career, he’s appeared in dozens of films, from action-packed thrillers to heartfelt dramas. However, long before he became a Hollywood A-lister, Wahlberg made his cinematic debut as a young soldier in Renaissance Man.

While Wahlberg’s role in the film was relatively small, it set the stage for the actor to eventually shed his Marky Mark persona and transition into leading man status. And, though Renaissance Man wasn’t a great success at the box office, it completely changed the trajectory of Wahlberg’s career, helping to establish him as a serious actor and paving the way for the diverse roles he would take on in the years that followed.

25 of Johnny Carson’s Most-Outdated Monologue Jokes from the Oscars
Image
For the first time since they introduced the In Memoriam segment, the Academy Awards is giving us a reason to tune in: the 2025 Oscars host is Conan O’Brien.

Yes, we have high hopes for the former late-night comedian who brings at least a small chance of talking about butthole gerbils before an audience of self-congratulating millionaires. Certainly, O’Brien doesn’t need our advice for mastering his first-ever time hosting the Academy Awards, but if he did want to take inspiration from anyone, he should look to the King of Late Night himself: Johnny Carson.

Carson hosted the Academy Awards five times — and nearly back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back — in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Many of his jokes have remained fairly relevant, too. Exhibit A: When he greeted his celebrity audience in 1979 with, “I see a lot of new faces — especially on the old faces.”

However, given the standard topicality of the Academy Awards,...

R.I.P. Bruce French – ‘Passions’ Actor Dies At 79
Image
Best known to daytime fans for his portrayal as Father Lonigan on “Passions,” actor Bruce French has died. He was 79 years old.

French died Friday, February 7 in Los Angeles of complications from Alzheimer’s, his wife of 34 years, Eileen Barnett (“Days of our Lives”), told The Hollywood Reporter. French was first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s around four years ago, Barnett shared with the outlet.

On “Passions,” French made a memorable impression on the show playing a priest who had lost his sight after a church he had been in burned down while he was looking to save a statue of an angel. His primary role in Harmony was advising citizens on the problems they sought solutions to, particularly those told to him by the young adult characters.

French appeared in several hundred episodes of the drama series from its debut on NBC in July 1999 and into its run on DirecTV’s 101 Network.

Bruce French, ‘Passions’ Actor and a Veteran of the Stage, Dies at 79

Bruce French, the dependable character actor who did lots of work for the theater and portrayed Father Lonigan, the blind priest on the soap opera Passions who somehow could sense that evil was imminent, has died. He was 79.

French died Friday in Los Angeles of complications from Alzheimer’s, his wife of 34 years, longtime Days of Our Lives actress Eileen Barnett, told The Hollywood Reporter.

The Iowa native, who has more than 150 acting credits on IMDb, guest-starred for David E. Kelley on such shows as L.A. Law, Picket Fences, Ally McBeal, The Practice, Boston Public and Boston Legal, and he appeared on three Star Trek series — The Next Generation, Voyager and Enterprise — and in the 1998 film Star Trek: Insurrection.

Plus, he played the wealthy neighbor of Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver’s shifty characters on both seasons of the 2007-08 FX drama The Riches.

Clint Eastwood Could Have Played A Huge Batman Villain In A Canceled Episode
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Batman has one of the most enviable ensembles of recurring villains in superhero comics. Look back at the 1960s "Batman" TV series starring Adam West, though, and not a lot of those now familiar evildoers are there.

Oh, for sure, the Joker (Cesar Romero), the Riddler, Catwoman, and the Penguin (Burgess Meredith) all frequently guest star. It's because of the West series that this crew was long considered the Big Four of Batman villains; it's no coincidence that they were also the first four villains to star in the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher-directed "Batman" films.

Then you had some other comic villains, like Mr. Freeze and the Mad Hatter, put in a few appearances too. But many episodes of "Batman" instead had West's Caped Crusader and Robin (Burt Ward) face villains created specifically for the show, including wannabe pharoah...

10 Chilling Twilight Zone Episodes That Are Seriously Scary
Image
The iconic Rod Serling created The Twilight Zone as an outlet for his most controversial ideas. Dystopian science fiction provided the perfect cover for his critiques of conservative society — but his groundbreaking series also demonstrated his mastery of the horror genre. The ten most bone-chilling Twilight Zone episodes prove that fears about the future are no match for the terrors that could transpire here and now.

These stories are more than 60 years old, but they continue to frighten today's masters of horror. Some served as inspirations behind modern genre classics ranging from Annabelle to Us, while other episodes are too original to be imitated. These deadly dolls, creepy kids, and phone calls from beyond the veil still hold up as major achievements in horror.

The Twilight Zone's 15 Scariest Episodes, Ranked
Image
One of the most groundbreaking shows in television history is "The Twilight Zone," created in 1959 by Rod Serling. An anthology series, each episode weaves into thought-provoking tales that individually veer into the realms of science fiction, fantasy, or outright horror. Well-received during its initial broadcast run, "The Twilight Zone" went on to produce multiple revival series after the original show's conclusion in 1964. And while horror wasn't always the series' main focus, it produced some of the most memorably frightening episodes of its time.

Whether asking disturbing existential questions or presenting genuinely terrifying antagonists and narrative stakes, "The Twilight Zone" has always been effective at telling scary stories. This remains true of several of its revivals, particularly the '80s iteration and the Paramount+ series that began in 2019. In its exploration of the surreal, there is always something haunting about "The Twilight Zone" and its best horror-oriented episodes will stay with...

Spider-Man (2002) Review: 22 Years Later, I'm Still Convinced We'll Never Get Any Better Than Maguire's Peter Parker & Dafoe's Green Goblin
Image
It would actually be very easy to be cynical about Spider-Man: as the first movie to gross $100m in its opening weekend, and one of the two Marvel prototypes (along with 2000's X-Men) for the modern comic book movie, it set trends that would become ubiquitous with everything naysayers like to hate about the superhero bubble. That huge box office milestone was also the start of the race to gamify instant box office takes that has probably killed a lot of good creative seeds before they were ever allowed to blossom. But the first in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy doesn’t really have anything direct to do with those: it’s not a cynical ploy.

Instead, Spider-Man feels almost old-school in its simplicity, relying on recognizable tropes from countless other heart-filled action movies, but injecting them into one of the most recognizable character brands in the history of media,...

‘The Dead Don’t Die’ Ending, Explained
Image
The Dead Don’t Die is a 2019 horror comedy about zombies, a previously established niche subgenre that also includes beloved cult classics Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland. The movie was directed by Jim Jarmusch, whose name may be recognizable to fans of vampire media as the director of Only Lovers Left Alive. The movie also had a lot of star power behind it, including Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Danny Glover, and Selena Gomez, just to name a few.

Despite the talented director behind the camera and an esteemed cast in front of it, The Dead Don’t Die received middling reviews and has mostly been forgotten in the five years since its release. With 54% on RottenTomatoes and 53% on Metacritic, it’s easy to see why audiences, whether deserved or not, have allowed the film to join the ranks of underrated horror comedies.

Why Everyone Is So Obsessed With Sturgill Simpson's "The Dead Don't Die" Song In The 2019 Zombie Movie
Image
Jim Jarmusch's 2019 horror comedy The Dead Don't Die is now streaming on Netflix, but what is going on with the Sturgill Simpson song in the movie? The Dead Don't Die stars Adam Driver among its incredibly star-studded cast, which also includes the likes of Selena Gomez, Bill Murray, Austin Butler, and Tilda Swinton, among others. Although The Dead Don't Die is technically a zombie movie and follows some familiar beats, it also breaks with that genre in myriad ways because, at its core, The Dead Don't Die is really a parody of zombie movies.

The Dead Don't Die also provides considerable social commentary—after all, in this movie, the zombies are created due to fracking—which is at times heavy-handed, although it is intentionally so. Overall, these elements of The Dead Don't Die give the movie a bit of a bizarre tone, which has likely contributed to its mixed reception.

Adam Driver's Bizarre Zombie Movie From 2019 Is Now On Netflix, And You'll Never Believe Who Make Up The Supporting Cast
Image
Adam Driver has been in a variety of movies and TV shows, and one of his most bizarre ones is now streaming on Netflix – and it’s even more intriguing thanks to its unbelievable supporting cast. Adam Driver has become one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, and he has shown his range across different genres on both film and TV. Driver’s acting career began on TV before his big screen debut in 2011’s J. Edgar, where he played Walter Lyle. Driver’s big break was when he was cast as Adam Sackler in the comedy-drama TV series Girls.

Driver gained worldwide recognition when he joined Disney’s Star Wars sequels as Kylo Ren, but in between Star Wars movies, he continued to expand to other genres. After movies like Silence, Logan Lucky, and BlacKkKlansman, Driver joined the cast of the absurdist zombie comedy The Dead Don’t Die.

The Dead Don't Die Ending Explained
Image
The Dead Don't Die is a zombie movie with a subtle, philosophical perspective that's fascinating to examine. Directed by iconic indie director Jim Jarmusch, the comedy touches upon timely social issues by exploring small-town drama during a zombie apocalypse, as police officers Cliff Robertson (Bill Murray) and Ronnie Peterson (Adam Driver) investigate the murder of two people at a Centerville diner. The initial diner murders are committed by two zombies - undead characters who are less interested in flesh and more interested in coffee, demonstrating that it's not the typical zombie film.

The Dead Don’t Die overtly foreshadows the impending apocalypse. From act to act, Driver’s Ronnie Peterson emphatically states that “it’s all going to end badly.” Murray’s Robertson tries to figure out why the end is coming, even though the writing is figuratively on the wall. Ultimately, they’re consumed by concepts that they can’t fully understand,...

Bill Murray and Adam Driver's Zombie Comedy ‘The Dead Don't Die’ is Streaming on Netflix
Image
Bill Murray may be best known for his larger-than-life comedy performances in movies such as Groundhog Day and Caddyshack, as well as the droll and sarcastic Peter Venkman in the Ghostbusters franchise. However, in 2019, he starred in his second zombie comedy (after his brilliant cameo in Woody Harrelson’s Zombieland franchise) with Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die. Now the financial and critical disappointment is shuffling its way onto Netflix on December 16.

While a quirky and completely deadpan approach to the zombie genre, which seemed to have a lot of promise from its premise and leading cast, which also includes Adam Driver, the blend of horror, comedy and a lot of social commentary ended up being even more lifeless than the undead creatures it features. Jarmusch’s deep dive into environmental issues in the guise of a slow-moving dark comedy really failed to connect with either audiences or critics,...

Audiences love it for its sincerity and earnestness, and for the way it truly believes in its characters. The movies also make people cry with their poignant scenes. Characters die in the films, just like they die in the comics, and some of those deaths are absolutely tragic. The Raimi films found humanity in its heroes in a way few other superhero blockbusters had done before.

Hollywood Flashback: ‘The Best Man’ Took On Cutthroat Campaigning
Image
Kamala Harris has arrived at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as the party’s official nominee for president. Things, however, weren’t as smooth in The Best Man: A political endorsement was a chief concern when it hit cinemas 60 years ago.

Written by Gore Vidal and based on his play of the same name, The Best Man follows two candidates — ethical former Secretary of State William Russell (played by Henry Fonda) and the more conniving Sen. Joe Cantwell (Cliff Robertson) — campaigning to become their unnamed political party’s presidential nominee. There’s no love lost between the candidates, who each vie for the backing of the ailing former president, Art Hockstader (Lee Tracy, reprising his role from the Tony-winning production).

Franklin J. Schaffner, who would win the best director Oscar for Patton (1970), helmed the big-screen version of The Best Man, which United Artists released on April 5, 1964, ahead of...

It's Amazing So Many Hollywood Legends Appeared In This 41% Rotten War Movie

Midway boasts a stellar ensemble cast with Hollywood legends like Charlton Heston and Henry Fonda leading the charge. Despite lukewarm reviews, the film was a box office success, grossing $66.4 million against a $4 million budget. Some up-and-coming actors, like Erik Estrada and Tom Selleck, had small roles in Midway before becoming big stars in the future.

Although it was met with mostly negative reviews from critics upon its release, 1976s Midway is surprisingly one of the most star-studded war movies of all time. Directed by Jack Smight, best known for helming Airport 1975, Midway dramatizes the Battle of Midway, which marked a major turning point in the Pacific Theater of Operations in the Second World War. It wasnt the first (or last) movie to chronicle the game-changing Battle of Midway the most recent one arrived in 2019 but it is one of the ones with the most famous actors in its cast.

Stan Lee Was Once Jealous He Wasnt Asked to Play This Iconic Marvel Role
Image
Stan Lee has appeared in many Marvel movies but there was one role that he didnt get.

The well-beloved comic book writer and creative leader at Marvel Comics was present in several of their big-screen superhero films. From the early 2000s X-Men films to the flagpole Avengers films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Stan Lee has cameos here or there in almost all of them. But in an interview with GQ, actor J.K. Brainstorm | The 1983 sci-fi film that nearly became an insurance write-off
Image
Directed by Doug Trumbull, 1983 sci-fi thriller Brainstorm could have been deleted as an insurance write-off – but then a London bank intervened.

When Warner Bros announced its plans to effectively delete the films Batgirl, Scoob 2 and Coyote Vs Acme, the reaction was one of outrage. Studios destroying films as a tax write-off is nothing new, however: on the 21st June 1933, the Charlie Chaplin film A Woman Of The Sea (previously called Sea Gulls) was burned on the steps of Chaplin’s own studio. The five witnesses who saw the negative go up in flames then signed a letter confirming that the film had been lost to history.

A film directed and produced by one of the most important visual effects pioneers of the 20th century almost suffered a similar fate. Brainstorm, which went into production in the early 1980s, was directed by Doug Trumbull and featured a superb cast, including Christopher Walken,...

Bruce Campbell Remembers Spider-Man Co-Star Randy Savage
Image
Late pro wrestling legend Randy Savage had kind things to say about Bruce Campbell after working with the actor in Spider-Man. With the clip resurfacing on social media, Campbell paid back the kindness.

In Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man movie, which introduced Tobey Maguire in the titular role, Campbell appeared as a pro wrestling organization's ring announcer. Savage also had a guest role as Bonesaw McGraw, a pro wrestler who Maguire's Peter Parker must fight in the ring. A resurfaced clip on X saw Savage praising Campbell before bestowing him the pro-wrestling-like nickname of "Beautiful" Bruce Campbell. After watching the clip on X, Campbell said he felt the same way about the one they call the "Macho Man."

The Best Quote From Each Spider-Man Movie

Spider-Man's cinematic legacy boasts iconic quotes, showcasing depth beyond mere dialogue from the web-slinger himself. "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" solidifies Spider-Man's core values, echoing throughout his cinematic journey. The Spider-Verse offers a diverse range of heroes embodying the idea that anyone can wear the mask and be a hero.

Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most bankable properties with a cinematic legacy that has given rise to some of the best quotes in the superhero genre. While Spider-Man was no stranger to the big screen by the time Sam Raimi's trilogy was released, it was with 2002's Spider-Man that his live-action legacy began in earnest. This started Peter Parker on a trajectory as one of the most beloved superheroes in the genre, with every subsequent movie starring Spider-Man being mostly well-received by fans and critics alike.

10 Best Conspiracy Thriller Movies
Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford in All the President's Men (1976)
Conspiracy thriller films have a way of sticking with our minds maybe it’s because they show that the authorities are hiding something and we know that actually might be true or maybe it’s just thrilling to uncover a large conspiracy even in a fictional world. We thought of compiling a list of the best and most thrilling conspiracy movies and we have only included the films that are entertaining and have a large conspiracy in their story. Madame Web Did Exactly One Thing Better Than the MCU
Image
Adam Scott might have the most thankless part in Madame Web. He exists simply to share the screen with a listless Dakota Johnson and trade expository dialogue about how her character Cassie Webb doesn’t like children or anything related to family—obnoxious signposts to give the movie something like a character arc. Cast to bring the good will he earned playing wholesome snarks in Party Down and Parks and Recreation, Scott delivers his lines with a wry reserve that feels like resignation.

And yet, Scott’s mere presence in the film gives Madame Web an important quality lacking in all of Spider-Man’s MCU appearances. Because Scott isn’t playing any guy who shows way too much concern for his co-worker’s disinterest in being a mother; he’s playing Ben Parker, beloved and ill-fated uncle to Peter Parker.

Sam Raimi Reignites Rumors of Spider-Man 4 Return: 'I Would Love It!'
Image
Sam Raimi remains open to directing Spider-Man 4 but there is no official confirmation yet. The director discussed potential obstacles and narrative choices for Tobey Maguire's character. Raimi is rumored to return to the MCU for Spider-Man 4 and possibly Avengers: Secret Wars.

Sam Raimi has said he would "love" to return to the Marvel Universe to direct Spider-Man 4. But there are certain details the director would need to figure out first. Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy (starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker) helped usher in the cinematic phenomenon that is the superhero genre. Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 are still considered to be among the best superhero movies ever made, and gave fans incredible on-screen iterations of the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Doctor Otto Octavious (Alfred Molina). Although Spider-Man 3 was discernibly the weakest film in the trilogy - featuring a questionable reworking of the beloved villain Venom -...

Kirsten Dunst Explains Why Spider-Man Kissing Scene was "Miserable" to Film
Image
Kirsten Dunst revealed a not-so-romantic truth about her Spider-Man kiss scene, recalling it as "miserable" due to rain and cold weather conditions. The actress expressed willingness to return to superhero movies for financial reasons, supporting her family and being open to a reprisal of her role. Despite not appearing in recent Spider-Man entries, Dunst shared interest in a comeback as an "old-girl" Mj, echoing popular superhero movie trends.

Kirsten Dunst has been shattering illusions about her iconic “upside-down kiss” with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, Dunst recalled the stand-out scene of Sam Raimi’s original Marvel movie as being one that was “miserable” rather than romantic.

Michael Keaton Gushes About Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin Performance In 2002's Spider-Man
Image
Michael Keaton praises Willem Dafoe's performance as Green Goblin in Spider-Man, calling him "unbelievably good." Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin performance is outstanding due to how he had to perform wearing a full mask, and due to how difficult it is to adapt such a character to live-action. Spider-Man: No Way Home finished establishing Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin as the most evil, influential, and memorable Spider-Man movie villain.

DC and Marvel actor Michael Keaton reveals his thoughts on Willem Dafoe's performance as Green Goblin in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man. Michael Keaton pioneered the modern superhero movie with his work on Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. Almost thirty years later, Keaton returned to the superhero genre as Adrian Toomes a.k.a. the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming — a role he reprised in Morbius' infamous post-credits scene — before going back to where it all started in The Flash, where he played Batman once again.

How Old Each Spider-Man Actor Was As Teenage Peter Parker
Image
Tobey Maguire was 26 playing a 17-year-old Peter Parker in 2002's Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield was 27 playing a 17-year-old Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, the oldest to take on the Peter Parker role. Tom Holland, closest to Peter Parker's age, was 18 as Spider-Man in Civil War, maintaining a younger portrayal in the MCU.

Three adult actors have starred as Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, the teenage web-slinging protector of New York City in the Marvel Universe. After a series of made-for-tv movies in the 1970s and 80s, Sam Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man finally brought Spider-Man to the big screen with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. After two sequels, Andrew Garfield took over the role in Marc Webb's rebooted The Amazing Spider-Man, but Tom Holland was cast in the role after Sony and Marvel reached a deal that allowed the web-slinger to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Oscars: American-born acting winners cover 36 states and territories
Image
At the inaugural Academy Awards in 1929, native Pennsylvanian Janet Gaynor made history as the first American-born performer to win an Oscar by taking the Best Actress prize for her body of work in “7th Heaven,” “Street Angel,” and “Sunrise.” Over the subsequent 95 years, 215 more thespians originating from the United States won the academy’s favor, meaning the country has now produced 68.1% of all individual acting Oscar recipients. Considering the last decade alone, the rate of such winners is even higher, at 70.3%.

At this point, 96.8% of American-born acting Oscar victors have hailed from one of 34 actual states. Of those constituting the remainder, three originated from the federal District of Columbia, while four were born in the territory of Puerto Rico. New York (home to 49 winners) is the most common birth state among the entire group, followed by California (34), Illinois (13), Massachusetts (11), and Pennsylvania (11).

Bearing in mind our specific birthplace focus, the 16 states...

Andrew Garfield’s Description of ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ Upon Release Perfectly Sums up the Movie
Image
‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ marked the second chapter in the animated Spider-Verse series led by Miles Morales, currently one of the most beloved animated Spider-Man characters worldwide. With both films receiving critical acclaim and performing well at the box office, it’s no wonder that anticipation for the third (and currently final) installment is high.

During the premiere of ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ Andrew Garfield, who previously portrayed the primary live-action Spider-Man, described the movie as a masterpiece during a screening in London.

Andrew Garfield’s Reaction to ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ on Release Is How We All Feel About It

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ was the second installment in the animated Spider-Verse franchise helmed by Miles Morales, currently the most popular animated Spider-Man in the world. Both movies were a critical and box-office success, so it doesn’t surprise us that the third (and so far last installment) in the franchise is highly anticipated as well.

Back at the premiere of ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ Andrew Garfield, who once served as the primary live-action Spider-Man himself called the movie a masterpiece back at London screening of the movie:

Oscar winners Cillian Murphy (‘Oppenheimer’) and Emma Stone (‘Poor Things’) nearly break screen time record
Image
Since 1940, the record for highest average screen time between same-year lead acting Oscar winners has been held by Robert Donat and Vivien Leigh (“Gone with the Wind”), whose mean of one hour, 54 minutes, and 43 seconds will likely never be surpassed. Nonetheless, there is a brand new pair in second place, as 2024 Best Actor and Actress champs Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”) and Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) came within 10 minutes of dethroning the long-reigning duo. Indeed, both together and separately, their especially lengthy performances inspired several brushes with Oscars screen time history.

Murphy was specifically awarded for one hour, 53 minutes, and 10 seconds of acting work, while Stone clocked in slightly lower at one hour, 37 minutes, and 19 seconds. Understandably, each far outpaced all of their fellow nominees, respectively landing 27 and 22 minutes above their lineups’ averages. Their own average of one hour, 45 minutes, and 15 seconds makes them only the second pair of lead victors to exceed 100 minutes.

This Is The Only Original Twilight Zone Episode Ever Scripted By A Woman
Image
Like most areas of the entertainment industry outside of acting, casting and costuming, television writing was generally one big boys club until women began making (incremental) inroads during the 1990s. There were trailblazers like "I Love Lucy" scribe Madelyn Pugh, but that trail was walked far too infrequently for far too many years.

Anyone who possessed a conscience knew this was unacceptable, which is why it's disappointing that a politically progressive (particularly for his era) writer like Rod Serling never made a concerted effort to work at least one female writer into "The Twilight Zone" mix during the series' five seasons (which stretched from 1959 to 1964). To be fair, Serling did adapt the work of women for certain episodes; in fact, a tale that many consider the show's finest half-hour, "Time Enough at Last," was based on a short story by sci-fi/fantasy writer Lynn Venable. But he never managed to...

Kirsten Dunst Is Hilariously Honest on Doing More Superhero Films for Cash
Image
The beloved Kirsten Dunst is open to appearing in more superhero movies in the future, citing financial reasons and her family as motivators. Despite her iconic role as Mary Jane Watson, Dunst does not want to solely be known for her work in the Spider-Man films. Dunst has expressed interest in returning as an older version of Mj.

Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst may not have reunited with Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the actress would definitely make more superhero movies in the future. Dunst famously appeared as Mary Jane Watson in filmmaker Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (2002-2007), but her version of Mj didn’t turn up alongside Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Tom Holland-led 2021 MCU entry.

This ‘Twilight Zone’ Episode Pairs the Old West With Time Travel
Image
Whenever we enter into The Twilight Zone, we're always surprised by some strange happening that never would have first crossed our minds. In the case of the show's second season (which contains some of the series' best episodes), that remained true with the episode "A Hundred Yards Over the Rim." This Rod Serling-penned classic starts as a Western, complete with all the usual trappings about migrants headed west. But soon, it crosses over into the unknown as pioneer Christian "Chris" Horn (played immaculately by Cliff Robertson) suddenly finds himself out of the 19th century and into the 20th, and his life will never be the same.
