TV hall of famer David E. Kelley has created shows that have won 38 Emmys for acting spread out among 30 different performers. While the last of these wins was three years ago (Paul McCrane for a guest spot on the drama "Harry's Law"), Kelley's new comedy series “The Crazy Ones” could break that drought with three-time Emmy champ Brad Garrett ("Everybody Loves Raymond," 2002, 2003, 2005) a strong contender for his recurring role as Gordon Lewis, the authoritative, business-minded executive of the advertising agency at the heart of the series. Garrett has proven to be a worthy foil to Robin Williams’ character Simon Roberts, the eccentric leader of the creative team. As the office curmudgeon, Lewis makes every attempt to play by the book, but often succumbs to the frequent attempts by the free spirits in the creative department to bend and break the rules. -Break- While Garrett has appeared in three episode...

It’s been 32 years since sitcom Mork and Mindy ended and as a result, Pam Dawber and Robin Williams stopped gracing our television screens together. But now, the two are pairing up for a reunion on CBS comedy The Crazy Ones later this season.
“It will be a joy to work with her again,” Williams said in a statement. “It’s a dream come true.” In the episode, Williams’ Simon Roberts will go on a date with an eccentric author, played by Dawber. “I’m so excited to be able to see and work with Robin again,” Dawber said.

The prospect of returning to series television was intimidating at first, Robin Williams said Wednesday night at TCA. The star of CBS’ The Crazy Ones said the worst part was “the pressure of it being A Robin Williams Vehicle”. Now the series is more of an ensemble, and “that’s the great joy for me – the pressure is off. It’s really become something I enjoy,” he said, adding that he no longer is nagged by the pressure of ” ‘You’re back on TV. After 32 years.’ The ensemble is so good, and we’re growing,” he said, speaking glowingly of the “steady gig like this with a great group of people.” Williams headlines the David E. Kelly comedy as Simon Roberts, head of a Chicago ad agency, whose daughter, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, is a business partner. Cast member, Hamish Linklater said the two of them assume most of the load on the show,...

Some of our favorite TV characters are often unlucky in love. They just can’t seem to find The One — but what if The One is on another show altogether?
Okay, I’ve got one for you. What do you get when you mix vicious one-liners with endless rants? A hard-to-crack doctor and a cracked-up ad man? An explosive combination of comedy that can’t decide whether to be pithy or long-winded. That’s what you get in my PopWatch Matchmaker proposal: Diane from Trophy Wife and Simon from The Crazy Ones.

Zap2it: You're starring in this Thursday CBS comedy "The Crazy Ones" as mad genius ad exec Simon Roberts, who's partnered with his daughter, Sydney (Sarah Michelle Gellar). How are you and she getting along?
Robin Williams: Very sweetly. I think the first day, we were very honest. I leaned over, and I said, "I'm a little afraid." And she said, "Me, too." I knew there was no audience, which took the pressure off, and then we started doing it.
Zap2it: Are you also getting along with co-star James Wolk, as womanizing copywriter Zach Cropper?
Robin Williams: He's really good. This is a nice thing for him to kick out and be as crazy, as funny as he can, playing this studly character. "Did you sleep with her?" "Not yet." "Ok, cool." And they can also pitch with me and throw ideas around and send him in as the designated shtick man,...

Washington, Oct : Despite landing big budget roles like that in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' Sarah Michelle Gellar has called her latest role on CBS' 'The Crazy Ones' the "most fun."
She told CBS News that she has been in this business for 33 years and it's the most fun she has ever had.
She said that she was learning something new every day, and have the nicest co-stars.
In the workplace comedy, Gellar portrays Sydney Roberts, the daughter of Simon Roberts (Williams), a larger-than-life advertising executive who heads up a powerful agency but displays some unpredictable behavior. (Ani)...

CBS has the some of the most-watched sitcoms on TV, so any new sitcoms at the very least have some decent lead-ins to theoretically help them build an audience. That was certainly the case for The Crazy Ones, which held onto the lions share of The Big Bang Theory’s gargantuan audience to register 15.61 million viewers and a 4.0 rating on Wednesday.
Debuting to around half that viewership was Mom, the latest sitcom from Chuck Lorre, which would have made it a more obvious candidate to follow-up Tbbt, but is obviously lower down on CBS’s list of priorities. Instead it came after 2 Broke Girls (which deservedly saw a dip in ratings from last year) and registered a soft debut on Monday night. In truth there’s not an awful lot between them in terms of quality based on the pilots, but we’ll start off with the one that I liked a little bit more…...

Before watching Thursday night’s premiere of The Crazy Ones, I hoped to find answers to these two questions:
1. Will Robin Williams make me genuinely laugh without thinking about Patch Adams or The Birdcage or Mrs. Doubtfire?
2. Will Sarah Michelle Gellar make me laugh in general?
The short answers, judging from the first episode? No and unfortunately, no.
Now I know that’s a lot to ask of a pilot of any show, let alone a show about an apparently crazy dad who works with his uptight daughter. But thirty minutes (even less, factoring commercials) is a long time in television land.

Think of The Crazy Ones‘ Simon Roberts as the anti-Don Draper.
In CBS’ new comedy — which debuted Thursday at 9/8c – Robin Williams returns to the small screen as Simon Roberts, the maniacally brilliant head of the Roberts & Roberts advertising agency. Joined by his partner (and daughter) Sydney (Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar), Simon makes some risky moves in order to keep McDonald’s — the agency’s biggest account — on board.

While CBS' new sitcom "The Crazy Ones" has been touted as the Robin Williams show ever since its pickup was announced, surrounding the comedian with a strong ensemble makes for a balanced show.
Sure, Williams signature brand of comedy and big personality dominate the show, but with an ensemble of Sarah Michelle Gellar, James Wolk, and Hamish Linklater, it's less one-note than expected. Everyone feeds off of Williams' fast-paced, high-energy delivery, though it does take a bit for everyone to catch up to him in the pilot. Hopefully, that will even out as everyone finds their footing in later episodes, but for now, Williams gets the spotlight as his riffs and improv are given free reign. He plays goofy-yet-brilliant Simon Roberts, who runs a big ad agency he hopes to pass off to his daughter, Sydney (Gellar).
As for the ensemble, it's no fluke critics have been singing Wolk's praises.

Chicago – There are very few recurring weak points in the CBS lineup. They’ve been dominating total viewers for years with mega-hits like “NCIS” and “The Big Bang Theory.” But there is one thing they haven’t been able to figure out — something to partner with “Tbbt.”
After failing miserably with shows like “Rob!” and “How to Be a Gentleman,” they gave up and just moved “Two and a Half Men” to Thursday nights. That worked and so now they’re trying to expand the empire by pulling the night’s big hits apart and launching two programs in between. Neither are good and one is horrible. Ah well. Maybe they can move “2 Broke Girls” to Thursdays too.

The better of the two new CBS programs this evening has also been one of the most reviled in new season previews. Meh.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was once (sort of) banned from McDonald's.
When the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star was a pint-sized commercial actress, Gellar starred in Burger King spots. In these spots, she compared Burger King burgers to those of McDonald's. The result? A lawsuit from McDonald's naming Burger King and Gellar.
"Banned is a strong word," Gellar said in 2004. "When I was five I did a commercial for Burger King. McDonald's were so outraged, they sued Burger King and named me in the lawsuit. I wasn't allowed to eat there. It was tough because, when you're a little kid, McDonald’s is where all your friends have their birthday parties, so I missed out on a lot of apple pies."

From his stint on Happy Endings making the heart of Adam Pally’s Max skip a beat, or the caring brother to Sebastian Stan’s gay addict T.J. on the gone-too-quick Political Animals, to this past season when he touched the unsuspecting knee of Vincent Kartheiser’s Pete Campbell on Mad Men, James Wolk has not only made us swoon with his dreaminess but also surprised us with his array of characters in both sitcoms and dramas.
This fall, we’ll see Wolk back in the sitcom world as Zach Cropper who, in the actor’s words, is “the office lothario” on the new CBS sitcom, The Crazy Ones. Created by David E. Vulture's TV critic, Matt Zoller Seitz, will be watching and evaluating the early clips and concepts of each of the new shows unveiled at this year's upfronts. Here are his thoughts on CBS's shows. The Crazy Ones The gist: Comedy-drama from David E. Kelley set at Roberts & Roberts, a Chicago ad agency run by a father (Robin Williams) and his daughter (Sarah Michelle Gellar). The father, Simon Roberts, is a wild, wacky, impulsive Robin Williams type of character, an impish id-creature; his daughter Sydney is the level-headed one who advises caution and tries to rein her dad in. Gut reaction: Looks like Patch Adams set at an ad agency, with Williams riffing while squares gape at him in awe and confusion. Kelley has always demonstrated a knack for showcasing oddball lead actors (Robert Downey Jr. on Ally McBeal, James Spader and William Shatner on Boston Legal), so he’s the...

Jackson as the son of Axel Foley and a recurring Eddie Murphy; and NCIS: Red, starring John Corbett and Kim Raver. Beverly Hills Cop might find a home elsewhere, while NCIS: Red was deemed unworthy...

Working in advertising is tough. Working with your dad? Also tough. Working with your dad when your dad is Robin Williams? Tougher still. Welcome to "The Crazy Ones."
The new fall CBS comedy, from executive producer David E. Kelly, boasts two of the 2013-14 season's most impressive casting achievements in the form of Williams, returning to series TV for the first time since "Mork and Mindy," and Sarah Michelle Gellar, giving comedy a try after her first attempt at a post-"Buffy" comeback, The CW's "Ringer," proved a flop.
"The Crazy Ones," one of CBS' forays into the world of single-camera comedies this fall, centers around the father-daughter duo of Simon Roberts (Williams) and Sydney (Gellar). Simon, the head of a powerful advertising agency, is unorthodox, unpredictable, larger-than-life ... basically, he's Robin Williams. Sydney is his exact opposite, often finding herself playing the parent in the relationship. The cast is rounded...

"The Crazy Ones" marks Robin Williams' return to series TV, his first regular gig since "Mork & Mindy" in the late 1970s. The new CBS series also marks Sarah Michelle Gellar's first half-hour TV comedy. The two are joined by co-stars James Wolk, Hamish Linklater, Amanda Setton and Kelly Clarkson appears in the pilot episode.
"The girl can act," Gellar said of Clarkson on CBS's Upfront 2013 red carpet.
"The group of people we have on this show is pretty wild ... They can go one-on-one so it's not like all you riffing. There's a lot of people doing great stuff backing it up. The writing is really great," Williams said.
In the series from David E. Kelley ("Chicago Hope," "The Practice" & "Ally McBeal"), Williams plays ad executive Simon Roberts, who's known for his unique way of thinking. Gellar plays his daughter, Sydney, a fellow executive at the firm.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

Chicago – When you’re the #1 network on TV, it must be tempting to stay the course. However, CBS always shakes things up a bit and this year is no different. The 2013-14 schedule, announced this morning, features four new comedies (including a new comedy block in one of their most successful time slots) and one drama, along with new time slots for big hits “Person of Interest,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Hawaii Five-0.” The five new shows feature a stunning degree of star power with lead roles taken by Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Margo Martindale, Tony Shalhoub, Toni Collette, Will Arnett, Tate Donovan, Allison Janney, and more. It must be nice to be #1.

It’s pilot season, which means your favorite out-of-work TV actors, actresses, creators and writers are getting a chance to return to the small screen once more.
Although we have yet to know what new series we’ll see next year, the networks have been busy selecting projects to consider for their schedules. So far, almost 100 scripts have been chosen, and audiences will only get to see a handful actually come to fruition.
Several are duds, but there are a few promising prospects that I hope network executives will keep around for the 2013-2014 season — even if it means they have to cancel old favorites to make room (just keep Parks and Recreation, Ok, NBC?).
Check out my choices for the best prospective pilots NBC and CBS have ordered, and come back tomorrow to see my picks for ABC and Fox:

Former "Buffy" and "Ringer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar will play Robin Williams' daughter in the David E. Kelley workplace comedy pilot, "Crazy Ones," at CBS. According to The Hollywood Reporter , "the single-camera entry revolves around the dynamics between a father named Simon Roberts (Good Will Hunting Oscar winner Robin Williams) and his daughter and is set in the world of advertising. Gellar will play Sydney Roberts, who is described as "intense, driven, organized and burdened with being practical. Sydney is the creative director and life and soul of the Roberts and Roberts Advertising Agency at the center of the comedy. She wants to be her father but is too busy having to parent him." "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, is attempting a return to TV. The actress was last seen on CW's "Ringer," which was canceled after one season in early 2012. This time, she's looking to make the audience laugh, and she's got a secret weapon named Robin Williams.
THR reports Gellar has signed on to co-star with Williams in the CBS pilot "Crazy Ones." The show is a single-camera comedy, about an advertising agency run by a father and daughter. Williams plays Simon Roberts, while Gellar plays his driven, yet practical daughter, Sydney.
The pilot's script is written by TV veteran David E. Kelley, who is also the show's producer. If the show goes to series, it would be Williams' first since "Mork & Mindy" ended in 1982.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams. On TV. Together.
This is now a possibility.

Gellar last headlined CW’s one-season drama Ringer, a role that was billed as her post-Buffy return to television and was part of the 2011-2012 TV season.
CBS announced the pilot order for Crazy Ones, a project by David E.
