Just over a year ago, the leadership of Brillstein Entertainment Partners — a pioneering Hollywood company founded in 1969 by talent broker icon Bernie Brillstein, who managed names like Lorne Michaels, Garry Shandling, Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage and Mike Myers — started thinking about strategic options for their business, including a sale.
The management and production firm had been led by co-CEOs Cynthia Pett and Jon Liebman since 2005, when the duo bought out the stake of executive Brad Grey and Brillstein-Grey dropped the latter name from the shingle. (Notably, the late Grey, who went on to become CEO of Paramount Pictures, took the backend interest in HBO’s The Sopranos, which had been produced by Brillstein, with him.)
Liebman, a New York entertainment attorney who joined Brillstein in 1998, says informal conversations were held in 2022 with Casey Wasserman, whose namesake company — which includes sports talent agents and a booking agency — has been on the acquisition hunt,...

Sports and music representation powerhouse Wasserman has finalized its acquisition of Brillstein Entertainment Partners, the venerable Hollywood management and production company. Terms were not disclosed. Deadline exclusively revealed the acquisition talks back in February.
Wasserman chairman and CEO Casey Wasserman and Brillstein co-CEOs Cynthia Pett and Jon Liebman made the announcement. It puts Wasserman, grandson of the iconic Hollywood representative and studio chief Lew Wasserman, directly into the film and TV representation and production game for the first time. It is the second strategic alignment for Wasserman, who took over the lucrative music touring business that was once the most profitable part of the Paradigm agency, at a time when the pandemic grounded live touring revenues.
It would be the latest move in management after 3Arts made a deal with Lionsgate, and Range Media Partners linked with Automatik.
Wasserman, Pett and Liebman believe their cultures will mesh in their compatible business and staffs.

Courteney Cox, Kaley Cuoco and Jimmy Kimmel were just a few of the celebs who came out Saturday night for Rock4EB.
The annual event returned after being on hiatus for three years due to Covid. The evening, which included a stand-up set by Kevin Nealon and a performance from Brandi Carlile and was hosted by Judd Apatow, raised more than $1 million for Eb Mrf, an organization co-founded by talent manager Andrea Pett-Joseph to support research for rare chronic skin disease epidermolysis bullosa. Pett-Joseph’s son, Brandon, has the condition.
“Come here and get perspective at this event,” Cuoco told Variety. “I’ve known Brandon since he was very young and I’ve seen all the ups and downs they’ve gone through and he’s so positive. They’re really trying to get the message out and find a cure for this. They’re using their voice for good.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame welcomed a new friend on Monday: Friends superstar Courteney Cox.
The 58-year-old actress, producer, director and entrepreneur was immortalized with a star at the starry event that featured loving tributes from her Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow and longtime pal Laura Dern. By the end, Cox, who was joined by boyfriend Johnny McDaid and daughter Coco, got choked up as she recalled how she never gave up on her Hollywood dreams despite running on fumes financially.
The honor comes ahead of the debut of another installment of the Scream franchise for which she reprises fan-favorite role as Gale Weathers and another season for her Starz series Shining Vale. Dern kicked off the tributes by calling Cox a friend, sister and “the most extraordinary person possible.” She detailed a trip to Disneyland when she saw first-hand the “delight and pure thrill” in people’s eyes when they recognized Cox.

Brad Pitt's manager has confirmed reports suggesting he has asked longtime partner Angelina Jolie to be his wife.
The news comes two days after Jolie debuted a new prize on her ring finger during a trip to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Chinese Galleries with Pitt and their adopted son Pax on Wednesday - and hours after a representative for jewellery designer Robert Procop, who created the Style of Jolie collection with the Oscar winner, confirmed he collaborated with the actor on the engagement ring.
A statement from Procop's rep reads: "Working closely with Brad Pitt to realise the star's vision for the ring, Robert Procop was able to source a diamond of the finest quality which was then transformed using Pitt's unique designs, cut with distinctive faceting to a shape and size that perfectly suits Angelina's long, slender fingers.
"Throughout, Brad Pitt remained heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design process from the perfect cut of the diamond centerpiece - an elongated tablet shape - to the finishing touches such as the mounting of a galaxy of smaller stones which are graduated in size and faceted to match, adding a crowning lustre to the ring.
"The full creative journey - from conception to completion - took a year, with Brad Pitt waiting until the perfect moment to unveil this special jewel to Angelina Jolie."
And now Pitt's manager Cynthia Pett-Dante has confirmed the news, stating, "It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy."
She adds, "There's no date set at this time."
Pett-Dante also confirmed Pitt designed the ring.

Update 4:30 p.m. Et: Pitt's manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, has confirmed the engagement to USA Today. "It's a promise for the future and their kids are very happy," she says. No date is set.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been together for seven years and are raising six children together. And now they might just be preparing to get married.
How do we know? Because Robert Procop, the jeweler who made the ring spotted on Jolie's finger at an event Wednesday (April 11), is telling everyone.
"I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt," the ringmaker's publicist tells The Hollywood Reporter. (Us Weekly and People quickly followed up on the story.) Neither Jolie nor Pitt, however, has said anything about an engagement -- and @AngiesRightLeg is also silent on the matter as of this posting.
