In an exclusive uInterview, Criag Shulz and Raymond Persi discuss their new special, Peanuts Presents: Welcome Home Franklin.
“I think that the purpose of the special is that we seem like we have a lot of differences. But if we are in the same room and let down our guards, we’ll see how much we actually have in common,” director Persi told uInterview. “Even the things that are different about us enrich each other, so we just have to be open to that.”
Co-writer Shulz, son of cartoonist Charles Schulz, said that his father would appreciate how the special goes “beyond the comic strip page.”
“We show the audience more about what they want to know about each of the characters, whether it be Lucy or Peppermint Patty, now we get a chance to highlight Franklin,” Shulz said. “We really see Franklin’s backstory, we see that his father was in Vietnam…...

Plot: Franklin Anderson struggles to make new friends when he moves to a new state (possibly Minneapolis). However, after meeting Charlie Brown and entering a soap box derby race, Franklin learns valuable lessons about friendship and how winning isn’t everything.
Review: Moving to a new town is especially difficult when you’re a kid. In addition to being a social disadvantage in a school setting, your after-school playtime quickly becomes an exercise in manifesting imaginary friends. For Franklin Anderson, being popular was never an option. His dad moves around a lot, so Franklin jumps from one state to the next, living out of a suitcase and never settling in one place long enough to make honest-to-goodness friends. This pattern is about to change when he meets the Peanuts gang and learns that the traditional methods of making friends sometimes don’t apply.

Apple TV+ dropped a new Peanuts special titled Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin, focusing on the comic strip’s first Black character, Franklin Armstrong.
When the trailer was unveiled, one moment got social media buzzing as it referenced the 1973 special A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. The controversial scene is where Franklin is seen sitting on one side of the dinner table while the rest sit on the opposite side.
‘Welcome Home, Franklin’
The new special, which is already streaming on Apple TV+, fixes that scene showing all the Peanuts characters rallying around Franklin.
Craig Schulz, son of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, recently addressed the controversy in an interview, revealing that his son Bryan told him about the issue with the scene.
“It was very important to my son Bryan,” Schulz told The Daily Beast. “He said, ‘This is our chance to kind of rectify the whole thing.’”

Sometimes, the people who make the biggest difference aren’t the ones who grab the spotlight. In “Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie,” we get to see firsthand how our lovable introvert, Marcie, makes a monumental difference from behind the scenes for both her friends and her community. To train for the school golf championship, Marcie assists Peppermint Patty as her caddie, offering thoughtful and deliberate advice to help her win. Meanwhile, after coming up with brilliant solutions to her classmates’ problems – from hallway traffic jams to lunchtime pizza shortages – Marcie is unexpectedly elected as class president … a role she never wanted.
Suddenly thrust into the spotlight, Marcie struggles to cope with the expectations of her new job and retreats as far from the public eye as possible. As the golf championship begins, Marcie is still in hiding and Peppermint Patty is forced to tee off with Charlie Brown filling in as her caddie.

Peppermint Patty’s Bff Marcie will be front and center in the new Apple TV+ Peanuts special, Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie. Shy and intelligent, Marcie first appeared in Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip on July 20, 1971. The upcoming Snoopy Presents production, which just released a trailer and poster, marks the first time the character’s been the focus of an animated special.
The official Peanuts website offers this quote about Marcie from creator Charles M. Schultz: “Marcie is one-up on Peppermint Patty in every way. She sees the truth of things, where it invariably escapes Patty. I like Marcie.”
Emmy Award winner Raymond S. Persi directs the family-friendly special from a screenplay by Betsy Walters. Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, Cornelius Uliano, Paige Braddock, Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, and Logan McPherson executive produce.

Apple TV+ today unveiled the first trailer for “Lucy’s School,” a new original special celebrating educators based on the “Peanuts” comic strip by Charles M. Schulz.
In this new tale, the Peanuts gang enjoy summer break but are anxious about starting at a new school in the Fall, inspiring Lucy to start her own school instead. But, unsurprisingly, teaching isn’t as easy as it sounds. “Lucy’s School” is a love letter to teachers, and an appreciation of the impact a teacher can have on a child. It explores the fear of change, and shows how Lucy, supported by her friends, faces and overcomes her own fears.
Produced for Apple TV+ by Peanuts and WildBrain, the special is directed by Raymond S. Persi, written by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano, who also executive produce alongside Paige Braddock, Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, Amir Nasrabadi and Anne Loi,...

It’s time to celebrate the Earth, Charlie Brown!
“Peanuts” is back for a new Earth Day special on Apple TV+, titled “It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown.” The program follows Sally’s bond with a special little flower on the baseball field that may spell disaster for the big game. For Charlie Brown and the team, it’s just the inspiration they need to make a positive impact on their environment.
On Thursday, the streamer released a trailer for the special, which also features an original song from Ben Folds. The sneak peek, which you can watch above, begins with the Peanuts’ baseball game getting interrupted by Sally, who is smack dab in the middle of the field talking to her favorite flower.
“Well, hello little flower. Do you ever feel like you just don’t fit in?” she ponders. “Small guys like us, we oughta stick together.

Sky Cinema has debuted a new trailer for the upcoming animation ‘Extinct’ featuring the voices of Rachel Bloom, Ken Jeong and Zazie Beetz.
Op and Ed are two adorable doughnut-shaped animals — Flummels — who accidentally time travel from 1835 to modern-day Shanghai. There, they discover traffic, trans fats, and worst of all, that flummels are now extinct. It’s up to this bumbling pair to save themselves, save their species… and just maybe change the course of history.
Meet the Flummels
Op (Rachel Bloom) is an always-upbeat, leap-before-you-look flummel. She is a dreamer and a do-er, and is the driving force behind her and her brother’s adventures and, frequently, their problems.
Ed (Adam Devine) is the brooding brakes on his sister’s antics. He desperately wants to fit in with the rest of the flummels in spite of being considered an oddball in their society. After all, can’t an oddball find love too?...

Raymond S. Persi voices the character of Flash in Disney's Zootopia, the fastest sloth in the Dmv (Department of Mammal Vehicles), but he's no ordinary voice actor. Persi is actually a story artist for Walt Disney Animation Studios and an Emmy Award-winning director (for the 2006 "Simpsons" Episode: "The Seemingly Neverending Story"), and fell into the role by accident. CineMovie sat down with Persi to talk about voicing the slow-speaking character, and how he was recruited for the role.

Featuring a cracking voice cast, lush animation and an entertaining story at its heart, Zootopia not only proved to be one of this year’s early crowd-pleasers, it also soared close to $1 billion at the international box office.
That’s an impressive tally as is, but what really fired Byron Howard and Rich Moore’s animation into the history books was the fact that Zootopia stands as a successful movie, yes, but also an original one. In a report by Forbes, the outlet reveals that Howard and Moore’s adventure is now second only to James Cameron’s Avatar in Hollywood’s ranking of highest-grossing original movies; that is, feature films “not based on a television show, a comic book, a novel, or a stage play.”
This, coupled with the barnstorming success of Captain America: Civil War has ensured Disney’s box office haul for the year is nearing $4 billion in total.

Bridge of Sloths, Steve Paws, Mad Yax: Furry Road; In today’s latest round of parody posters for Zootopia, Disney’s anticipated animation presents this year’s Oscar contenders with a stylish twist.

In little under a month’s time, Disney will invite moviegoers into an entirely new and modernised animal kingdom for Zootopia, and Byron Howard and Rich Moore’s feature is bursting at the seems with personality.
Case in point: Cheetah Officer Clawhauser, who reports for duty in one of two new clips today, while the second has Ginnifer Goodwin’s Judy Hopps tower over Little Rodentia.
As a matter of fact, Goodwin’s lawful bunny is one of the two core characters anchoring Disney’s animation, partnering with Jason Bateman’s cunning scam artist Nick Wild to prove her worth to the local precinct. Governed by Idris Elba’s no-nonsense Chief Bogo, the police force of Zootopia is comprised of animals of all shapes and sizes – elephants included – and it’s a cast we can hardly wait to learn more about in a few weeks’ time.

In the build up to its March debut, Disney Animation has been adopting a less-is-more approach with Byron Howard and Rich Moore’s Zootopia - a strategy exemplified by last month’s sloth-centric trailer lingering on a single scene to brilliant effect.

But today, the House of Mouse continues to hit all the right notes in anticipation of Zootopia‘s arrival, with a new clip that features Idris Elba’s no-nonsense Chief Bogo addressing the literal elephant in the room.

It doesn't seem like there's a lot of hype building for the film, but I think it looks like it will be a lot of fun. This latest trailer gives us a much better sense of what the story will be and introduces us to a lot of new characters. The first trailer basically just showed us a clip of the film featuring the two main characters trying to obtain information from the Dmv, which was being run by a bunch of slow moving sloths.

In what will very likely wind up being our last trailer of 2015, Walt Disney Pictures has released a new, full-length teaser for the upcoming animated animal comedy adventure, Zootopia.
Byron Howard (Tangled) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It-Ralph) direct the House of Mouse’s latest sure-to-be-blockbuster, which features Arrested Development actor Jason Bateman as a fox named Nick Wilde who goes on the run after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Wait, a Disney movie that doesn't involve "Star Wars," Marvel, Pixar, a sequel, or remake? Yes, original films still happen at the mouse house from time to time, and the latest is "Zootopia." Granted, an animated movie with talking animals isn't exactly reinventing the wheel, but it looks like a neat premise executed with some heart. From Star Wars: The Force Awakens to Jurassic World, Fifty Shades of Grey to Alex Garland’s really rather brilliant Ex Machina, the latest batch of posters for Disney’s Zootopia riff on some of the biggest blockbuster releases of 2015 – and the results are wonderful.
It’s fair to say that movie posters have become increasingly unremarkable, with seemingly every action movie adhering to the Marvel-esque knack for superimposing every core character onto a one-sheet. Outside of that, there’s the standard ‘back to camera’ hero shot, placing the main hero or heroine front and center for a brooding picture, so it’s little wonder why something like Fox’s marketing campaign for Deadpool attracts attention for flying in the face of convention.
For Zootopia, though, Disney is gunning to strike while the iron is hot with a slew of meme-worthy posters. And though they don’t necessarily reveal much...

Disney has released the first full trailer for their upcoming animated adventure, Zootopia. I haven't seen a lot of hype surrounding this movie since it was first announced, but maybe this full-length trailer will change that. I've already seen some of this footage because they screened some stuff at D23 earlier this year, and I've enjoyed everything that I've seen from this movie so far. This is a great trailer that shows you some of the funny humor that the movie will include, and I really think Disney fans are going to get a kick out of it. The sloth character that you'll be introduced to in this trailer is freakin' hysterical. It's such a funny concept for a character.

Arriving on the furry heels of last week’s teaser poster is the first full-length trailer for Disney’s upcoming animation, Zootopia, offering our first look at the titular urban landscape in motion.
For those unfamiliar with the general set up of the film, Zootopia imagines a world completely devoid of humanity, allowing the animal kingdom to rise up and build their own mega-cities. From towering rhinos to the bouncing bunny rabbits, Disney’s anthropomorphic kingdom is simply thriving with life, though today’s clip introduces us to the more laid-back section of society.
Shedding light on the core dynamic between Jason Bateman’s Nick Wild and Ginnifer Goodwin’s officer Judy Hopps, the footage culminates in a segment that involves the pair engaging in a conversation – or at the very least trying to – with Dash, a sloth that is about as slow with admin duties as one would expect.

While it may not have topped the ever-growing list of must-see films in 2016, Disney fired Zootopia directly into the limelight only a few short weeks ago when the all-new animation welcomed aboard Luther star Idris Elba, Octavia Spencer and J.K. Simmons.
Now, with little over four months to go until release, the House of Mouse has today debuted a new poster for the film that sheds light on the core dynamic between Jason Bateman’s Nick Wild and Ginnifer Goodwin’s officer Judy Hopps. Eager to prove her worth in salt to the rest of the force, it is the latter anthropomorphic animal that takes point to crack a seemingly impossible case, though Hopps is forced to coordinate with Jason Bateman’s smart-mouthed schemer to do so.

Disney's upcoming animated film Zootopia looks like it's going to a ridiculously funny and entertaining film. I got to see some footage from it at D23 this past summer, and I thought the stuff that the studio shared was great.
The voice cast for the film originally included Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Shakira. Now, thanks to USA Today, we have some information on the rest of the voice cast and the characters that they will be playing. We even have images and information for each of those characters. But first, here's the synopsis:

USA Today has unveiled both the movie's main characters and the actors behind them, and they include Oscar winners (Octavia Spencer and J.K. Simmons), action stars (Idris Elba), comics (Tommy Chong and Jenny Slate), and seasoned voice actors (Alan Tudyk and Bonnie Hunt) alike. Here's a rundown of who's who in the ensemble: Idris Elba plays Chief Bogo (pictured above), a no-nonsense cape buffalo in charge of the Zootopia Police Department. Octavia Spencer plays Mrs. Otterton, an otter whose search for her missing husband sparks the film's plot. J.K. Simmons plays Mayor Leodore Lionheart, a noble lion who leads the city of Zootopia.
