Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be a streaming event for the first time on the Netflix YouTube channel. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute.

Among that group will certainly be Oscar winners Louise Fletcher, William Hurt and Irene Cara, plus nominees Angela Lansbury (a SAG life achievement recipient) and Melinda Dillon. Emmy champs Mary Alice, Kirstie Alley, Leslie Jordan, Ray Liotta, Stuart Margolin, Robert Morse and Barbara Walters.

YouTube star Keenan Cahill, who first became popular for his celebrity lip-sync videos in 2010, has died, according to multiple reports. He was 27.

Cahill had undergone open heart surgery on Dec. 15, his manager told TMZ, but there were complications to the procedure, leading to the internet personality being put on life support. Cahill died Thursday in a Chicago-area hospital after being taken off life support. Et has reached out for confirmation.

The beloved YouTube sensation gained notoriety on the video platform more than a decade ago when he became one of the first channels to garner over 500 million views. His channel has more than 721,000 subscribers.

His most popular lip-sync video, which has 60 million views and was uploaded November 2010, features 50 Cent and sees the duo covering the rapper’s song with Jeremih, “Down on Me.”

Bob Penny, a poet and professor who after retirement appeared in small parts in movies including Forrest Gump, Sweet Home Alabama and My Cousin Vinny and in the TV series In the Heat of the Night, died December 25 in Huntsville, Al. He was 87.

His death was announced on the website of Huntsville’s Laughlin Service Funeral Home & Crematory. No cause of death was given.

Bob Penny — an Alabama college professor turned actor with a nearly 30-year career in Hollywood — died on Christmas Day in Huntsville, Alabama. He was 87.

Penny spent three decades as an English professor, teaching Poetry and Prose at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his career as a professor, Penny was an award-winning educator and acclaimed poet in his own right.

He retired from academia in 1990, after 32 years in the classroom, and turned toward his passion for performing. Penny began getting work in small bit parts in some beloved classics.

Throughout his Hollywood career, Penny appeared in over 30 films and TV shows. His movie credits include “Sweet Home Alabama”, “Forrest Gump”, “Mississippi Burning”, “My Cousin Vinny” and “The Legend of Bagger Vance”, among others.
