Ok so mayyyyybe we lied to you yesterday, but that's only because changing the name of a half-century-old fashion house is goddamn ridiculous. It was rumored that Ysl's new creative director Hedi Slimane wanted to re-brand the company by dropping the "Yves" out of Yves Saint Laurent for a "fresh, modern feel," according to Fashionista, and sadly, it's true. This morning, an Yves Saint Laurent spokesperson confirmed to Wwd that Slimane plans to change the name of the house to Saint Laurent Paris. Bleh.

According to Wwd, Slimane will be “restoring the house to its truth, purity and essence – and taking it into a new era” while “respecting the original principles and ideals.” Riiight.
The "original branding" refers to 1966 when Saint Laurent introduced Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, which Slimane plans to use as inspiration, mimicking fonts and branding from the era.
