Logan Huntzberger himself, Matt Czuchry, chimed in on the decades-long debate over which of Rory’s (Alexis Bledel) boyfriends was the best. And he did it in the most diplomatic way possible.
Czuchry stopped by The Talk to promote his upcoming role in American Horror Story: Delicate and spent some time discussing arguably one of his biggest onscreen characters: Logan in Gilmore Girls.
The debate over which of Rory’s boyfriends is the best in the Amy Sherman-Palladino series has been ongoing since the show was first released in the early 2000s and continues to maintain its popularity today.
The daytime show’s hosts asked Czuchry about his thoughts on a viral TikTok from last year that raised a point that perhaps both Logan and Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) are below-average partners, and that’s why women’s standards for men have been so low over the past two decades.

Matt Czuchry is weighing in on the Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) romance discourse! During the April 2 episode of The Talk, the Gilmore Girls alum was shown a TikTok video of fan hating on both Logan Huntzberger and Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), calling them “below average” boyfriends and a possible reason why “standards have been on the floor for women for decades now.” Czuchry, always a gentleman, politely said, “We shouldn’t be searching for perfection in anything, whether it be relationships or whatever it may be.” He noted how Gilmore Girls has “spanned generations” because of its “timeless nature,” due in large part to creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Dan Palladino. “But specific to that take, I think that Logan had his strengths and weaknesses, and Jess has his strengths and weaknesses, and Dean has their strengths and weaknesses like we all do,” Czuchry elaborated. “I think the fun...

Halle Berry Goes Down With The Mothership
It didn’t set off nearly the online uproar as did Warner Bros.’ decision to dynamite its $70 million Coyote vs. Acme action-animation hybrid, but another high-profile movie was recently, much more quietly, dumped. Netflix has grounded The Mothership, a Halle Berry sci-fi thriller directed by Oscar-nominated Bridge of Spies co-writer Matt Charman. The $40 million project started filming during the pandemic in 2021 and ran into one snafu after another — scheduling conflicts, reshoots, strikes and, most recently, continuity issues brought on by growth spurts among some of the children in its cast. During a Jan. 31 news conference, Netflix content chief Bela Bajaria cited “lots of production issues and story issues” for shelving the movie and insisted that “everybody just felt like it was the right thing to just not do it.” A source tells THR, however, that there may have been another reason Mothership got axed: Its biggest champion,...

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Alex Borstein has only seen three episodes of her hit Prime Video series — but that’s about to change.
The actress, who has been Emmy-nominated for her role of Susie Myerson every year since the series premiered, told The Hollywood Reporter that she only watched the show’s first two episodes and the last one.
Once the SAG Awards happen, and Maisel is officially over, she and her daughter plan to sit down and watch the series from start to finish. “She’s old enough now, and I’m further far enough away from it to not judge myself harshly,” says Borstein on the Emmys red carpet.
Now that Maisel has ended, the Emmy-winning actress shares there’s one thing she’s going to miss about playing Susie.

“It was actually part of the pitch. The pitch was a journey from an Upper West Side ‘queen of six blocks’ house wife to Johnny Carson’s couch,” shares Amy Sherman-Palladino about how she originally envisioned the arc of her series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” The creator, writer, director, and executive producer stayed true to that vision in the series finale, which streamed on Amazon on May 26, and signed off with standup comic Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) making her big break on the Gordon Ford (Reid Scott) late night talk show. She thought ending at the moment when Midge “shot off like a rocket” made sense because “the fun is the struggle.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

The end of the 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike isn’t just resuscitating the U.S. film and TV business, it’s also bringing back to life a raft of productions set in Europe. The dual writers and actors strikes, which spread over the second half of this year, took a heavy toll on the global film and TV industry and led to many series and films being delayed, postponed or recast. While European players, including financiers, producers, crew members, commissions and actors are rejoicing about the end of the historically long strike, many are also concerned about the probable bottleneck effect the backlog in production will have come next year, with many smaller indie projects fearing they will be squeezed out of the picture.
In Paris, where all shoots will be barred between June and September due to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, many delayed productions will kick off in January.

Season 4 of Netflix’s hit show “Emily in Paris” and Amazon Prime’s “Etoile” are two of the high profile U.S. productions tentatively scheduled to start shooting in January in the French capital ahead of the Olympic Games.
With the WGA strike over and SAG-AFTRA preparing to resume negotiations with studios, time is of the essence for producers who are hoping to slot their shoots before the start of the massive sports celebration this summer. From June to September, all shoots will be barred in Paris, while access to some posh areas around the Concorde and Trocadero will be restricted starting in March.
“Emily in Paris” Season 4 was initially scheduled to start shooting in the summer at the Cité du Cinema studios, where the last three seasons were filmed. But the Cité du Cinema has been booked for the Olympic Games starting in mid-November, so the series will shoot at the nearby Studios Monjoie.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is not slowing down for its last turn at the Emmys. For its fifth and final season, the period comedy on Amazon Prime Video is finishing exactly at the same amount it started with, at 14 Emmy nominations, almost a fifth of the streamer’s 2023 total of 68. This is the longest-spanning season for the show, covering five decades in nine episodes detailing the title character’s ascending career and destructive personal life. Among its mentions are its bid for Best Comedy Series, an honor that it has received its entire run (it won in 2018), as well as major categories it has succeeded in years past. By the finale of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which finished up its five-season run this year, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) has undergone a full transformation. If the actors and writers’ strikes last beyond the autumn, major productions could be challenged by planning for the Paris Olympics.
The French industry is cautiously optimistic that the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes will not materially affect the amount of inward investment from US studio and streamer productions into the country. So far, only a handful of studio projects shooting in France have been delayed by the strikes.
However, if the strikes linger long into the autumn, there are concerns that they could upset plans for major US productions, particularly as Paris gears up to host the 2024 Olympics.

Jared Padalecki was just 17 years old when he was cast in the role of Dean Forrester in Gilmore Girls. Padalecki wasn’t the first actor to be cast in the role, and he didn’t even know he had landed the part when he returned home to Texas after a trip to California to audition for roles. That call would come later after casting agents auditioned even more actors. It’s not that the casting department didn’t love Padalecki for the part. In fact, they were sold after his first audition. The show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, insisted on auditioning more actors because Padalecki’s casting would have been too easy.

Amazon Studios’ 2023 Emmy performance is probably best encapsulated by the Outstanding Comedy Series category. There is the veteran, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which years ago landed Prime Video’s first Best Series Emmy win. It is ending its five-season run in style with 14 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
There is the upstart, surprise Outstanding Comedy Series nominee Jury Duty which put Amazon’s up-and-coming AVOD platform Freevee on the awards map with four total noms, breaking new ground for ad-supported streamers.
And then there is Netflix’s Outstanding Comedy Series nominee Wednesday, produced by MGM, which has been fully integrated into Amazon Studios following the venerable Hollywood studios’ acquisition by Amazon.
The combined Amazon MGM Studios scored 68 Primetime Emmy nominations today, including nine for Daisy Jones & The Six, six (all in crafts categories) for the The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) and three for Swarm.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has a curious Emmy history in writing. After winning Best Comedy Writing in 2018 for its pilot, penned by creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, the Amazon Prime Video series has not been nominated in the category since, which is kind of crazy for such a verbally dense show about an aspiring comedienne, not to mention a former Best Comedy Series winner. The nomination for its pilot remains the show’s only one for writing. It has one last chance to return to the category for its fifth and final season — and it deserves to.
Best Comedy Writing will have six slots this year, one fewer than last year, so that’s already not great news for the “Maisel” crew. The show submitted two scripts: “Four Minutes,” the series finale written by Sherman-Palladino, and “The Testi-Roastial,” written by Daniel Palladino. They’re arguably the best episodes of the season and would be worthy nominees.

A version of this story about Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” first appeared in the Comedy Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Five seasons of Amazon’s pop-culture-reveling hit “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” has yielded more stars rising than bagel dough, but possibly none more so than show composers Thomas Mizer and Curtis Moore. The duo, who met at Northwestern and mentored with “The Muppet Show” veteran and multiple Emmy winner Larry Grossman, are responsible for pretty much any piece of music you hear that isn’t from someone’s songbook, and like other efforts from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, you can bet musical numbers are going to be part of the deal.
“We did actually we were set up on a sort of blind date with them about close to 10 years ago now,” Mizer says. “We’d been writing a stage musical...

When music supervisor Robin Urdang read the first episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” she knew she was in for a challenge.

The fourth season of ‘Emily in Paris’ was initially set to start in late summer or early fall in the French capital that gives the show its name, but filming has been delayed by two months due to the writers’ strike, ‘Variety’ has learned.
That could stretch longer if WGA members remain on the picket line, reports ‘Variety’.
Streaming giant Netflix has declined to comment. The plan is still to start shooting by the end of fall, according to a source close to the streamer.
Netflix announced the renewal of Darren Star’s Emmy-nominated romantic comedy in January 2022. Season 3 dropped on the streamer on December 21 following a massive premiere event in Paris, which lured crowds of overjoyed fans and was attended by Star and the entire cast, including Lily Collins, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Kate Walsh, Camille Razat, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount (who wore a shiny purple suit), Bruno Gouery and Samuel Arnold.
That could stretch longer if WGA members remain on the picket line, reports ‘Variety’.

The fourth season of “Emily in Paris” was initially set to start in late summer or early fall in the French capital that gives the show its name, but filming has been delayed by two months due to the writers strike, Variety has learned. That could stretch longer if WGA members remain on the picket line.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel may have come to a close on May 26, but the characters at the heart of the Emmy-winning series will stay with the castmembers who played them for much longer than that.
The final season of the show from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino saw the characters at the heart of it accomplish satisfying arcs — from one of the leads going to jail for his ex-wife to two other characters running in between stand-still traffic on New York City’s Upper West Side to support their daughter.
Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) and her father, Abe Weissman (Tony Shalhoub), have perhaps come further than most pairs in the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. They went from not understanding each other and not having much of a relationship in season one to realizing they’re a lot more like the other than either of them realized when the show kicked off.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was an instant hit when it premiered in 2017. With a hefty Amazon budget at their disposal, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband/creative partner/series executive producer Daniel Palladino were able to create an aesthetically stunning series packed with some stellar, award-winning performances. The Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning series became Prime Video’s first multi-season series based on the strength of its pilot — the show was renewed for two more seasons within a month of the first episode dropping. That success gave Sherman-Palladino free rein to do just about anything she wanted, and while that freedom allowed for some truly excellent moments throughout the series, the lack of restraint and pressure to do it all also led to some major pitfalls.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ended the only way it ever could have: Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) and Susie (Alex Borstein) still friends and laughing together 50 years after they met.
The final episode, “Four Minutes,” of the Emmy-winning series from creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino saw Midge finally achieve the success she had always dreamed of, with the support of her longtime manager and friend. When Midge is invited to be a guest on The Gordon Ford Show, she thinks Gordon (Reid Scott) is giving her her big break. Instead, he brings onto the show, sits her on a stool and asks her about being the show’s “resident lady writer.”
With four minutes left on the broadcast, and Gordon eager to get Midge off the stage, the comedian tells her manager she’s thinking about doing “something reckless” that could end both of their careers before...

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ended its illustrious run on Amazon after five seasons. During its tenure on the streaming platform, the series amassed multiple awards. In many ways, it was held up as the epitome of success in the streaming world. When the announcement was made that the series would end, fans assumed creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was ready to call it a day. As it turns out, she was not. In a recent interview, the famed showrunner blamed “the orcs” for the end of Maisel. She was clearly referring to the production of Rings of Power. The series, the most expensive show ever made, premiered in September 2022 on Amazon.

Gilmore Girls fans don’t always agree, but they do agree on two things. According to the fandom, Luke Danes and Lorelai Gilmore were the endgame couple of the series. That same fan base agrees that Lorelai’s marriage to Christopher Hayden in season 7 of the famed series made absolutely no sense. Considering that the fan base is in almost complete agreement about those two things, it should be unsurprising that the most highly-ranked Gilmore Girls episode revolves largely around Luke and Lorelai, and the worst-ranked episode focuses on Lorelai and Christopher.

[Editor’s Note: The following interview contains spoilers for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” Season 5, Episode 9, “Four Minutes.”]
In the same week that “Barry” and “Succession” come to their undoubtedly grisly conclusions, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” finale is the perfect antidote. Amy Sherman-Palladino’s comedy ends a five-season run with a joyous and gratifying conclusion, the culmination of Season 5’s daring flash-forwards and the future teased for Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) all those years ago.
Officially, “Maisel” premiered in November 2017, but the first episode was one of several contenders in Prime Video’s spring pilot season that March, where viewer feedback was taken into account before the streamer greenlit further episodes. Over five seasons and six years, “Maisel” amassed 20 Emmys with 66 nominations, pop ups all over New York City, and an honorary star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Miriam “Midge” Maisel officially became the “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” in the series finale titled “Four Minutes.”
The final episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel saw Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) take the biggest risk of her career when she finally got the chance to make an appearance on The Gordon Ford Show — against Gordon Ford’s (Reid Scott) wishes.
When Gordon’s wife, Hedy (Nina Arianda), forces the talk show host to put Midge on his show, he begrudgingly obliges and breaks his rule that employees can’t appear as guests on the show. But, instead of introducing her as a comic, he introduces her as the show’s “resident lady writer,” while the two sit on stools instead of the couch his guests usually sit on.
With four minutes left in the broadcast, Gordon cuts to commercial, much to Mike Carr’s (Jason Ralph) dismay.

Spoiler alert! Spoilers ahead for the series finale of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, titled “Four Minutes”. Read on at your own risk.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” took its final bow on Friday, as the season 5 finale showed us exactly where Rachel Brosnahan’s titular comedienne, Midge Maisel, ended up in the later years of her A-list career.
The flash-forward-heavy fifth and final season of the Emmy-winning comedy took away the suspense of Midge’s success early on in the final episodes, sharing with viewers that she did, in fact, become one of the biggest names in comedy. The unique story structure was one that the “Mrs. Maisel” creative team had been planning for some time, executive producer Dan Palladino told Et.
“Once we decided it was the last season, we just dove right into it,” he recalled. “It was fun, because we got to do time travel, but we’re not science fiction.

Lenny Bruce (Luke Kirby) made an emotional and sincere return to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel during its series finale, “Four Minutes.”
The final episode of season five opened with Lenny performing the penultimate show of his career at San Francisco’s Basin Street West in 1965, where he focused mostly on his legal troubles before dancing onstage. The show, which actually took place, saw one of the comedian’s final performances a year before his tragic death in August 1966 at 40 years old.
“Anytime he was onstage, those were always Lenny Bruce’s words — every utterance,” Marvelous Mrs. Maisel co-showrunner Daniel Palladino tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We would do some trimming, but we never added.”
Toward the end of Lenny’s set, viewers see Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) in the audience, watching the legendary comic, who seems to be too far gone at this point.

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers from the series finale of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
More than half a decade ago, Rachel Brosnahan stepped in front of a vintage microphone to deliver a standup routine as 1950s Upper West Side housewife-turned-comic Miriam “Midge” Maisel. It was early on in production for the first season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and she was terrified.
“I remember turning to Alex [Borstein, who plays Maisel’s no-nonsense manager Susie Myerson] and going, ‘Please don’t let me suck,’” Brosnahan tells Variety. “’If you see something, say something; like, please, any advice at all, I’ll take it.’ She looked at me and said, ‘I can’t help you. Take up your space, and ask for what you need. And bring this character into the world. Nobody knows who she is but you.’”

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” could be in for a marvelous last season at this year’s Emmys. That is a tired pun by now, admittedly. However this Amazon Prime Video series has so superbly executed its five seasons that, over the course of its run, it has remained as fresh and funny as ever. This consistency means that the series could end up bookending its entire run with Emmy wins for Best Comedy Series.
The show followed Rachel Brosnahan as the titular Miriam “Midge” Maisel — a Jewish-American housewife who, in the 1950s, embarks on a career in stand-up comedy after her husband (Michael Zegen) leaves her. The five seasons then chart Midge’s ups and downs as she meets various characters who help or hinder her, including Alex Borstein‘s Susie Myerson, who acts as Midge’s manager.

They run into each other on a luxury train, where Nadia is in the middle of a mission that she thought was a solo one. As the two banter in different foreign languages, there’s an undercurrent of tension.
