A famous Malayalam film director, script writer, and novelist,
Padmarajan is arguably the most talented script writer to have graced
Malayalam cinema.
His death marked the end of the golden-age of Malayalam movies.
Has one son, Anathapadmanabhan, and a daughter, Madhavikutty.
His first venture as a film director was in 1978 by directing the film
Peruvazhiyambalam (1979) (scripted by Padmarajan himself) which bagged the National
Award for Best Regional Film, and also the Kerala State Awards for
Second Best Film and Best Script Writer.
His first novel 'Nakshathrangalaey Kaaval' won the Kerala Sahithya
Academy award in 1972.
