- German-born émigré director, former child actor. In the U.S. from 1938, initially as assistant director, subsequently as production manager and associate producer. Directed his first full-length film in 1956, specialising from then on in second features and television episodes. A particularly prolific helmsman of The Outer Limits (1963).
