Spider-Man is hands down one of the most iconic Marvel characters out there. Who doesn’t love our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? But the character wouldn’t have been the fan favorite he was if it had not been for the magic weaved by Spider-Man: The Animated Series. The series was invaluable to Marvel, making innumerable characters household names for the people at large. Most of the characters featured in the series were loved by the fans. There were a few exceptions – one being the Hobgoblin.

Willem Dafoe has been in the entertainment industry for nearly five decades now. Besides being nominated for numerous accolades such as Academy Awards, BAFTA Awards, and Golden Globe Awards, he has received the Volpi Cup for Best Actor. Although he has played some great roles, he is best known for his role as Green Goblin/Norman Osborne in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man film series.
Dafoe most recently appeared in Poor Things, which is nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece. The film, starring Emma Stone in the lead role, is a front-runner at the Academy Awards with 11 nominations this year. While her co-stars have been all praises about her stunning performance in the movie, Dafoe wanted to replace her for one particular scene.

Marvel had a rough year in 2023. Many of its properties underperformed, and they lost their big villain due to Jonathan Majors being fired. Looking forward to their upcoming slate, comic fans have been excited about some of the studio’s projects over the next few years. Will these films help Marvel regain control? The upcoming Thunderbolts film has been one that fanboys have been hoping to see since the MCU started. With some recent news about the property coming up, it seems like the right time to break down what we know about the production.
Who Are The Thunderbolts?
The team first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997 in an issue of The Incredible Hulk. They seemed to be a new group of superheroes that had arrived on the scene and gained acclaim very quickly. The reader was informed that the group was actually a group of supervillains led by Baron Zemo.

The 2023 PlayStation Showcase was a bit of a disappointment. Sure, plenty of our predictions came true, but the whole event was a very “meh” affair. Quite frankly, the most exciting part of the showcase was the final game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and that’s mostly because its trailer showcased some actual gameplay. Despite the many new things we learned about the sequel in that trailer, though, it raised some new questions regarding Venom’s identity in the game.
Sony ended the PlayStation Showcase with a marvelous bang, pun definitely intended, by treating audiences to 12 uninterrupted minutes of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 footage. The video teased Kraven the Hunter as the main villain, a potentially larger world to explore that expands past Manhattan, and, most importantly of all, a Symbiote-infected Peter Parker. And where there’s a Black Suit Spider-Man, Venom isn’t far behind. But that raises an important...

Willem Dafoe is the latest bold-faced name to join the cast of Beetlejuice 2.
The Warner Bros. feature began production this week with Tim Burton, who directed the original movie that was released in 1988, back in the director’s chair.
Jenna Ortega is leading the cast, with Michael Keaton reprising his role as the obnoxious ghost, while Winona Ryder is also back, playing Ortega’s mother. Catherine O’Hara is also among the returnees, while Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci are among the newcomers.
While plot details are being kept six feet under, it is understood that Dafoe is playing a law enforcement officer in the afterlife.
Warners announced Tuesday that the feature will be released Sept. 6, 2024, taking over the date from Marvel’s Blade, which last week shut down preproduction due to the writers strike.
Producing Beetlejuice 2 are Burton and Brad Pitt’s Plan B, among others. Al Gough and Miles Millar,...

Willem Dafoe has said he would gladly return to the role of Green Goblin, in another Spider-Man sequel.
The actor first played the Marvel Comics villain, whose real name is Norman Osborne, in Sam Raimi’s 2002 blockbuster Spider-Man.
He would later reprise the part briefly in Raimi’s two sequels, before making his full return as the character in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Speaking to Inverse, Dafoe described Norman Osborne as a “great role”, insisting that he could be coaxed back to the character “if everything was right”.
“I liked the fact that it’s a double role both times,” he said. “Twenty years ago, and fairly recently, both times [were] very different experiences, but I had a good time on both.”
Dafoe isn’t the only Spider-Man star to express an interest in returning to the universe.

Willem Dafoe is not ruling out a third appearance as the iconic Spider-Man villain Norman Osborne/Green Goblin. These days, Spider-Man is as ubiquitous as the Marvel Cinematic Universe of which he's a part. In recent years the character has come to fully realize his potential as an everyman hero by literally appearing as a multitude of varied characters across different forms of media. From Miles Morales to the many different incarnations of Peter Parker to emerge from the multiverse, Spider-Man has truly come into his own in the 21st century.
But back when I was a kid, there was nothing like the bevy of Spidey products on offer today. In fact, if you weren't reading the comics, there wasn't really much to delve into in the early '90s. Sam Raimi was yet to make his seminal movie saga, and James Cameron couldn't get his vision for the character off the ground after Carolco, the studio behind his action classic "Terminator 2," bought the rights and then went bust.

When Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke joined the cast of the upcoming MCU Disney+ series Secret Invasion, fans immediately asked, “Who is she playing?” And when the rumor mill suggested that she would play Veranke, many fans had a follow-up question: “Who is Veranke?” Over the years, the MCU has not been afraid to dig deep into the comics to find obscure and exciting characters. While you may not know Veranke’s name, you’ll soon see why she’d potentially be a great MCU villain and a fitting role for Clarke.
In short, Veranke is the queen of the Skrull Empire who served as the primary villain of the 2008 crossover Secret Invasion. For fans of the MCU, Skrulls are a relatively recent and largely sympathetic alien race. At the beginning of Spider-Man: No Way Home — at least at the packed press screening I attended today — the three stars of the movie, as well as returning villain Jamie Foxx urged the audience to keep any spoilers to themselves and not spill the beans on any of surprises, and there are Alot of them. Such revelations would be terribly unfair to moviegoers, Marvel fans, and especially fans of this series, which has been going strong in various iterations for decades now.
This film is supposedly the culmination of the whole series, especially the arc that takes us back to the teenaged Spidey in the form of Tom Holland. He lends a fresh-faced appeal and real style to the role previously played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Sony Pictures' Silver and Black movie looks like it wants to include a lot more of the Marvel Universe. Recently there has been a report from the Hashtag Show saying that the whole Wild Pack will be in the film!
Crazy, right? I mean who can forget the Wild Pack. Ok, for those who don't know, the Wild Pack is a group of mercenaries put together by Silver Sable's father to fight Nazi's. They have been reformed many times, with Sand-Man being in one incarnation of the group even. There was a rumor that possibly one or two of them would be in the new Silver and Black movie, but now it has been revealed that the whole team will be hired to hunt down Black Cat.
It also has been revealed that the main villain of the movie could end up being Mendell Stromm, with some influence of Norman Osborne in the film.

Let’s teach Marvel about spoilers.
Does Marvel know what spoilers are? We’re skeptical. On the subject of the title of the follow-up movie of Avengers: Infinity War, a yet untitled sequel, they appear to be confused. Yesterday, Cinema Blend published an interview with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, who answered the direct question of “I’m curious if the reason [they’re not going to announce the title] is because it’s a spoiler” with “Yeah, for sure.”
This led to all sorts of speculation as to what kind of spoiler would be so hot that Marvel wouldn’t want to release the title of the Infinity War sequel until after we’ve seen the first movie. For a time, it was fun. Then later in the day, a BBC News reporter talked to Zoe Saldana on the red carpet for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, who said that after Infinity War, they had to go back for Gauntlet. This...

Comic Books 101: Marvel Characters That Need To Be On Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. !
I’ve said time and time again that despite its merits the biggest flaws in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV show has been its lack of fully developing characters from the Marvel Comic Book Universe. The show (which spiraled out from The Avengers movie) is ripe to explore and showcase some of the best characters that might just not be ready or capable of making an impact on the big screen. While some characters have found a way to appear (Deathlock, Daisy Rumble Johnson, Absorbing Man, and recently Ghost Rider) a great majority of villains have either been created specifically for the show (and suddenly now appearing in the comics) or have just been throw away characters that have very little to zero ties in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Comic Book Universe.

It was just yesterday that I was waxing nostalgic about the relationship Lrm has built with the character of Spider-Man over the years, and how interwoven our history has been with his cinematic exploits. Today I woke up to some interesting news that I just had to share with you all, and it's about Spider-Man: Homecoming. So strap yourselves in, boys and girls, we're about to talk a bit about the villains from the upcoming Marvel/Sony reboot.
For some time now, there's been lots of speculation about the antagonists in Spider-Man: Homecoming. We've heard The Vulture be confirmed, we've seen spy pics and heard rumors of Shocker, and there have been other unsubstantiated rumors that aren't worth discussing. A new rumor making the rounds, though, is that there will indeed be another baddie in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And it actually makes a ton of sense.

20. Story of Ricky (Lik wong) – Starring Siu-Wong Fan as the titular character, Riki Oh, based on a manga series which eventually became an anime, marks the end of an era of Japanese exploitation flicks, before the new generation of filmmakers such as Takashi Miike took over. Unlike Miike’s movies, or other recent entries such as Tokyo Gore Police, Riki Oh’s tone borders on comedy, played up by bad voice dubbing, foolish plot lines, cartoonish gore and eccentric characters (including a one-eyed assistant warden with a hook for a hand). For a prison film, the movie never seems mean-spirited, and if anything it masquerades as a bizarre superhero flick. The effects are the main draw – Riki Oh exists simply to showcase several outlandish set pieces, ramping up the level of violence, gore and action with each new scene. Made before the days of CGI, director Lam relies simply on practical effects,...

We know Sony has been working on an "Amazing Spider-Man" spin-off film featuring the "Sinister Six," a kind of 'Avengers' of villains from the Spider-Man comics.

If you don’t want to know the nitty-gritty plot details from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, close this tab now because this article is chock full of spoilers, but if you’ve seen the movie and want a spot to discuss the good and the bad and the weirdly campy, this is the place for you. Let’s get down to it.
I generally liked the movie, but there was a Lot going on in this sequel, and the movie suffered for it. The overabundance of villains was a problem, and they ended up detracting from the narrative. It ultimately felt like the movie existed solely to put the pieces in place for Sinister Six, and that really annoys me. Jamie Foxx’s Electro had a promising start, but was dispatched with pretty quickly and shunted off to the horrible Ravencroft Institute, which was the worst. (What movie did Martin Csokas,...

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have chemistry that seems almost absurd. Marc Webb has gotten better at staging comic-book action and seems to have a real feel for why Spider-Man is a great and enduring character. From scene to scene, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is the most Spider-Man movie that Spider-Man has ever been in. So why doesn't it feel like a movie? In some ways, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is the perfect modern franchise film. I'm sure that any executive in town who sees it is going to walk away raving, and it won't matter if they like it or not. It is an exercise in franchise management, and it hits every single entry on the checklist perfectly. By the end of this film, they've done a very good job of setting up the next three or four films in the series, but at the expense of this film...

Two years ago, the appropriate amount of outrage fumed when news circulated that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be aliens instead of, you know, mutants. Straight from Michael Bay‘s mouth, it was another example of the we-like-it-let’s-change-it thinking that infects so much of the worst of franchise filmmaking. Nevermind that the new incarnation was under Platinum Dunes’ wing. There’s also a long production history that has taken a cult comic creation and transformed it enough already. We’ll never get a true vision of what Eastman and Laird put down on comic book pages, but while accepting that, it felt even stranger to see large modifications made to an origin story for seemingly no real reason. Enter the trailer. From the sound of it, they’ve changed Shredder (William Fichtner) into Norman Osborne. He was trying to make heroes, but...

So far, the philosophy behind the marketing of "Amazing Spider-Man 2" has been "well, let's just show everyone everything." Gone are the days when studios would play coy with the plot specifics or intended villains for their big summer tent poles. (They tried that last year with "Star Trek Into Darkness" and look where it got us.) So the latest cat to be let out of the proverbial bag, when it comes to the highly anticipated spider-sequel, is the identity of the Green Goblin. In the comic books and original Sam Raimi film, it was Norman Osborne, played in the new film by Chris Cooper. They've seemingly gone a different direction, thanks to a just-released photo. So if you want to be spoiler-free going into "Amazing Spider-Man 2," you might want to turn back now.

It feels like it was just a few weeks ago that superheroes, giant robots, and all manner of phantasmagorical, computer-generated monstrosity were battling it out for the summer box office gold. But that was almost a year ago, and the studios are lining up their next big budget juggernauts to enter the annual gladiatorial arena that is the summer movie season. One early contender for the biggest prize: Sony's "Amazing Spider-Man 2," which has just unleashed a new trailer (although if you watched the 4-minute post-Super Bowl spot, chances are you've seen most of it) and promises to be one of the bigger spectacles this summer.

"We have plans for you, Peter Parker." Following the epic first trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and today's news of an expanded universe that will include spin-off films for Venom and The Sinister Six, a new international trailer for the sequel has arrived with tons of new footage we haven't seen yet. It starts off light and funny with Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) trying to hide his hero duties from Aunt May (Sally Field), but then we get into the meat of the sequel with all the villains, including a taunting new voiceover line that seems to be from Chris Cooper as Norman Osborne. Plus, we get a better taste of the face-off between Spidey and Electro (Jamie Foxx) in Times Square that was teased at Comic-Con this year. Watch! Here's the international trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 via ComicBookMovie: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by Marc Webb...

Okay, now that we are all on the same page, it seems that someone on Twitter going by the name "Tupacca" snapped a picture giving us a closer look at Green Goblin. Verdict? In my opinion, I'm a little confused with this. I think we can safely eliminate Norman Osborne (Chris Cooper) as the one wearing the costume this time...

Fans wondering what might be next for Sony's "Amazing Spider-Man" films would do well to keep an eye on their fake "Daily Bugle" site, where the studio appears to be teasing the next phase of villains for the steadily expanding film series. That next year's "Amazing Spider-Man 2" will provide the launchpad for some kind of Sinister Six story has been one of the (likely intentional) worst-kept secrets of that film, but thanks to the "Bugle," we might have some hints as to what bad guys will be joining Electro and the Rhino on the villainous super group.
In their October 14th post, the "Bugle" teased the Vulture, Hydro-Man, and possibly a little Spider-Slayer action thanks to developments at Oscorp in the wake of events from the first film. Screenwriter Alex Kurtzman has been chatting about the threads left behind by The Amazing Spider-Man...
One of the most interesting things about The Amazing Spider-Man happened early on in the film, as we saw how Peter Parker came to be in the care of his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Yet the movie didn't offer much in the way of resolution from that point on, instead following a similar road to the one taken by Sam Raimi's trilogy instead.
Screenwriter Alex Kurtzman, who has been hard at work on The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has been chatting about this aspect of the film in a recent interview.
"It's interesting, because the first movie asks all these questions and what I loved about it in so many ways is that it didn't answer them", he told I Am Rogue. "Part of what we were drawn...

During our recent Amazing Spider-Man 2 set visit, we spoke to production designer Mark Friedberg about his work on the forthcoming sequel...
It’s the law of nature that any sequel has to be bigger, louder and more expensive than the movie that came before it. But in the case of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, its makers have taken the adventurous step of filming the movie entirely in the state of New York, with the production making extensive use of locations in and around Manhattan, while trickier stunts and scenes were shot on sound stages outside the city.
It is, we’re told, the largest production ever to take place in New York, and Sony clearly has high hopes for its Spidey sequel. As part of our June set visit, we spoke to production designer Mark Friedberg about the specific challenges he’s faced...

Entertainment Weekly have revealed the first official full-shot of Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon’s shocking alter-ego Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
The image is from their latest cover issue and can be seen in full below. It’s not quite the Stan Lee and Steve Ditko version of Electro that I’ve known and read for decades but then again this Spider-Man series is mostly taken from a generation of comics I don’t understand.
Hopefully it will be less CGI than what is hinted at below (and certainly less than Rhys Ifans’ Lizard) and something that doesn’t look too manufactured by binary code when we see him on the big screen;

Fresh out of the rumor mill comes some big news for the future of the rebooted webcrawler franchise. Currently, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is shooting in New York City, and we already know that the primary bad guys will be Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as The Rhino. In addition, Chris Cooper has been cast as Norman Osborne, though there's been no indication of any Green Goblin activity just yet. However, Comic Book Movie is reporting a huge new rumor that will make the next film in the series packed full of bad guys. First of all, supposedly the already cast Colm Feore will play The Vulture. *Potential spoilers abound for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so bewere* The report says Feore is playing Adrian Toomes, the alter ego of the familiar Spider-Man villain, but that's not the biggest news. Supposedly, The Vulture will end up joining forces with Rhino,...

While Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man kept things relatively simple on the villain front, playing things one on one between Spider-Man and The Lizard, things are looking a little more complex for the upcoming sequel. Chris Cooper is on board to play Norman Osborne, for one thing, which lays the groundwork for The Green Goblin. And Paul Giamatti is also in there, as a character believed to be The Rhino. And then there's the principal villain, Electro, as played by Jamie Foxx. There have been at least a couple of significant variations on the Electro over the years and the question thus far has been which we're getting. Question answered. The Daily Mail have published a series of shots from the set of the film that...

• Matthew McConaughey may have been offered the lead in Christopher Nolan’s next film, Interstellar. As with any Nolan project, details are being kept tightly under wraps, but this project has been floating around for years. The story is based on the works of theoretical physicist Kip Thorne, who posited, among other things, that wormholes can be used for time travel. Nolan’s brother Jonathan (The Dark Knight, The Prestige) wrote the script, and they’ve already set a release date for November 7, 2014. As for McConaughey, if the reports are accurate, it seems like it would be a no-brainer. [Deadline]

The Amazing Spider-man 2 is really shaping up nicely. Chris Cooper — veteran actor from The Town, Adaptation, and numerous others — has joined the cast, as Norman Osborne. Sounds like we have Green Goblin version 2.0. Cooper’s a fantastic actor, and he obviously can play a great villain.
Cooper joins Andrew Garfield, Dane DeHaan, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, and Colm Feore in the cast. Marc Webb’s sequel is coming May 2nd, 2014.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is becoming the unexpected home to many highly respected actors. Jamie Foxx has already signed on to play Electro, and Paul Giamatti will play Rhino. As of today, Chris Cooper has agreed to play Norman Osborne, billionaire CEO of Oscorp and the man who eventually becomes Green Goblin. Willem Dafoe played the part in the previous Spider-Man series. When you think about it, Dafoe and Cooper have always had a similar, hard-to-describe quality about them. Now we know it's an inherent goblin-ness. ...

As if "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" couldn't be more stuffed with characters, with Jamie Foxx already on board as Electro, and Paul Giamatti as Rhino, here comes yet another. Yep, Green Goblin is coming to the franchise that has since given up claiming it will be "the untold story." This time around, the usually solid Chris Cooper will put on Willem Dafoe's green suit as the villain, playing Norman Osborne, who you already know is the father of Harry Osborne, slated to be played by Dane DeHaan. There's no word yet on if Cooper is a fully fledged baddie at his point, or will start flying around scaring people in "The Amazing Spider-Man 3." Or maybe he'll pass on his villainous steez to his progeny in an epic part two. Either way, director Marc Webb is certainly upping the ante on the followup, but whenever comic movies tend to cram in characters,...

Chris Cooper is just the latest big name to join the cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and as Spider Man's ultimate foe no less. But will he suit up or will he go the Dylan Baker route of the original trilogy?

A little more than two weeks after a shortlist emerged with for the new Harry Osborne with Sam Claflin, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Brady Corbet, Alden Ehrenreich and Boyd Holbrook all in the running, Marc Webb has announced that it's Dane DeHaan who has landed the role in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
