Canada's 'King of Swing' started with Guy Lombardo's band at the age of 14. He led his first orchestra in 1931, eventually becoming resident bandleader at the Palais Royale dance hall from 1932 to 1950. He was adept at playing trumpet, as well as trombone, saxophone, clarinet and flute. In the mid-1950s, Niosi became music director for CBC Toronto, working on many television programs until the late 1970's.
