The trailer for the action-thriller cop film ‘The Purvanchal Files’ features a full on ‘Singham’ style masala beat out by a ‘Dabangg’ style police officer played by Siddharth Gupta. We see the actor fighting against a corrupt system in the town of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh while clashing with a corrupt minister.
A very typical action fuelled masala film, the trailer shows the town of Ghazipur being a complete mess and an unsafe place as everyone comments, that the system of law and order is broken, and corruption runs deep through the veins of the system, rotting it from inside.
The villain of the film is played by senior actor Govind Namdev, the root of all problems in the city, and pretty much its total boss who runs everything from the police, finances and the city’s industry, essentially running it like his own mini kingdom.

It is said that life is nothing without love and love doesn’t happen going by someone’s caste and religion. But in India, especially Hindu-Muslim couples have to face discrimination, harassment and suffer mental agony even at the hands of their loved ones.
This film brings an important lesson about respecting other’s religion and allowing lovers to choose their own fate; but nowhere does the films get preachy, and that is the best part of ‘Shubh Nikah’.
The film will linger on in one’s mind for long enough, making it difficult to forget. It is not only a shining example of cinema with a purpose but it is equally a very entertaining film.

Director Pawan Nagpal, whose latest film ‘Bal Naren’ is all set for release said that the movie isn’t receiving that kind of support from the industry. He also opened up about the challenges his upcoming film ‘Ganga’ is facing in terms of casting as most of the actors being approached do not want to be part of social issue-related film.
‘Bal Naren’ is all about the idea of cleanliness and how a 14-year-old boy, with his determination and efforts, prevented his village from getting any case of Coronavirus.
He said: “Even today, no senior producer, actor or director from the fraternity is in my support, no one is even talking about my film ‘Bal Naren’. I have sent this to many other big directors, but never got any revert.”

Jhalki
Starring Aarti Jha, Sanjay Suri, Divya Dutta
Directed by Brahmanand S Siingh
Jhalki is not a great film. It is riddled with imperfections and the plot careens dangerously towards manipulative sentimentality.
But this is film that comes straight from the heart, warts, moles, smothered screams and all. It is a must-see for anyone who cares for the underprivileged children of the country who are often left at the mercy of savage exploiters and vulnerable to attacks of all sorts due to poverty.
Little sprightly Jhalki and her baby-brother Babu, almost like speckled cousins of Durga and Apu, with not a care in the world (except perhaps where the next meal would come from) are torn away from their village and parents, when a ruthless middleman whisks them away to the city.

Rangeela Raja
Starring Govinda & Govinda, Shakti Kapoor, Govind Namdeo
It is karma hooting dharma, albeit with a cruel whoop of taunting joy, that the once-flourishing flamboyant and quite simply fantastic Govinda returns to form in a double role, one of which requires him to play the decadent debauch to the hilt.
In one devastating sequence of sexual violation, one of the many starlets who walk through the film in skimpy blouses and little else, is raped by the villainous Govinda and then offered anti-pregnancy pills.Just to be safe.
And no sorry, no thank you.
Which is really thoughtful of him, From now on, if a shady man is caught with those pills in his pocket you know what he has on his mind.
The villainous Govinda as Rangeela Raja sows wild oats at a rapid rate. He hits on any woman below 30, invites them to sit on his lap and massage his back,...

One of the best aspects of 2012 was the sheer range of films that were released, from the masala heavies by Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn, to the surprises in Kahaani, Vicky Donor, and Gangs of Wasseypur. While the “100-crore club” was given much hullabaloo in the newspapers, it was the content of these films that made a Barfi! part of this club. The films were packed with impressive ensembles and featured some standout performances from the unlikeliest of actors who went that extra mile to prove their detractors wrong. Yet it was a stellar year for actors who brought some brilliant performances in some of the best films of the year.

Issue-based films tend to get themselves into trouble. And we don’t mean just the trouble caused by disgruntled parties, political or otherwise. The balance that needs to be struck between headlines and their cinematic interpretation often tends to get lost thereby defeating the noblest of purposes and the best intentions of conscientious filmmakers who look at the cinematic medium as more than just entertainment.
Ajai Sinha who has his roots in meaningful television entertainment, boldly takes on the theme of khap (community) justice in rural Haryana, whereby any marriage between two individuals of the same gotra (clan) is punished by local village panchayats.
