There aren’t a whole lot of comparisons between Netflix’s teen rom-com “Never Have I Ever” and the HBO drama “Succession”, but the disparate series wrapped their fourth and final seasons within weeks of each other, both sticking the landing.
Finishing a TV show is an inherently gargantuan/intimidating/daunting task, and very few achieve the holy grail of doing so without disappointing or infuriating even a small faction of their fandom. Shorter seasons and scheduled endings are less rare in the streaming age, but still satisfying for the devoted viewer. It's the end.
Ending a show as iconic as Never Have I Ever is always hard, and one cannot envy the writers who have to figure out a proper ending.
Yet, Never Have I Ever Season 4 Episode 10 was a full circle moment that delivered on its four-year-long promise and its recent expectations.
Everything was tied nicely, and I couldn't have asked for a better ending.
Devi finally got her acceptance letter into Princeton, and while it was a joyous occasion, she had been working towards this her entire life. A bigger surprise would have been if they had rejected her after that essay.
Devi bared it all in the essay, which couldn't have been easy.
The therapeutic essay gave her some perspective on what she wanted. Even though Princeton was tied to her memory of her dad, it was also a great opportunity for her to achieve her dreams.

Despite knowing that Never Have I Ever Season 4 would be the show's last, it hadn't felt like it for the past seven episodes.
It felt like a typical day in Devi's life as she tried to excel in her studies and become as sexually experienced as possible before she got into Princeton.
The show's tone changed considerably as many big changes started happening, and everyone felt ready for the next steps of their lives.
Never Have I Ever Season 4 Episode 8 was packed with many significant moments that made it truly feel like the end was near. It was heart-warming to see these people grow and accept the good things they had coming their way, but it was also sad realizing this was it.
The end was closing in.
After texting a lot with Ben for the past few days, Devi was almost convinced that he was ready to jump into team Bevi again,...

"Never Have I Ever" fans still can't believe this is the end of the road for the Netflix show after four seasons - and neither can series star Lee Rodriguez. Never Have I Ever’s final season concludes the story for all of our favorite characters in a perfect way, balancing the necessary emotional beats with a hopeful future for each. Plus, after three seasons of shipping, the love triangle is officially over.
The series, which premiered back in 2020, follows the messy life of Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), a modern-day first-generation Indian American teenage girl. Along with Devi, many of the characters provide great representation and are actually relatable for teens, specifically young women of color.

Actress Poorna Jagannathan, who plays the role of an Indian immigrant mother named Nalini in the Netflix series ‘Never Have I Ever’, has opened up about how the show has broken all barriers of type casting South Asian characters.
Asked if it feels like a pat on the shoulder with ‘Never Have I Ever’ helping to break Asian stereotypes, Poorna told Ians: “I always say this about the show that finally our outsides are matching our insides. What I mean by that is our representation in media… we are finally being represented and reflected as who we are inside our house and how we feel inside. There’s a balance…”
The actress agreed that Indians have been typecast and given characters with absolutely no dimensions.

Devi Vishwakumar isn’t ready to say goodbye, and neither are we.
After losing her virginity to Ben Gross (Jaren Lewinson), Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is ready for her final year of high school, with eyes on the Princeton prize in the trailer for “Never Have I Ever” Season 4 — the final batch of episodes for the Netflix series, which drop June 8 on the streamer.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without her besties Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriquez) by her side as they conquer college applications, prom and graduation.
It looks like some special guest stars will appear in this final season of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s comedy series. Ken Marino can be glimpsed driving the girls to prom in a limo. Michael Cimino (“Love Victor”) has been crowned new king of the hot pocket, and his character Ethan has gotten, well, hotter over the summer.

“Never Have I Ever” is nearing the final installment of its hilarious depiction of adolescent chaos, and showrunner/co-creator Lang Fisher already expects fans will have feelings about how the story ends.
The Netflix comedy series follows Sherman Oaks teen Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she juggles high school, grief over losing her father and love interests aplenty between hearthtrob Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) and academic frenemy Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison).
Fisher tells TheWrap that the show’s final season, set to premiere Thursday, June 8, will see Devi make a clear choice between her two suitors — and not all fans will be happy with the outcome.
“I think there’s gonna be a subset of people who are disappointed because, you know, the love triangle comes to an end and decisions are made,” Fisher said during the NBCU Emmys Kickoff luncheon in Los Angeles Wednesday. “But I hope that we...

Hosted by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anjula Acharia, the South Asian Excellence Pre-Oscars Celebration on Thursday on the Paramount Studio lot invited South Asian industry changemakers and honored Oscar nominees of South Asian descent.
As co-host, Chopra Jonas introduced the event by acknowledging that South Asian representation in Hollywood and at the Oscars has “been quite an arduous journey.” She said it would not have been possible without the South Asians who have “fought the stereotypes to ensure that our stories were not just a cliche, those of us who fought for actors to have bigger leading roles. Those of you who fought for stories of South Asian descent to be a norm, to not be an exception, but to be normal.”
Chopra Jonas then shouted out, one of the co-hosts, Mindy Kaling, for her decades of developing their stories with South Asian women at the forefront, including the Netflix series starring Jagannathan and Suri.

Representation of immigrant characters continues to be a work in progress, according to the third study between the immigrant culture change organization Define American and USC Annenberg’s Noman Lear Center for the Study of Entertainment, Media and Society.
Over the past two television seasons, representation of Black and Asian Pacific Islander (Api) immigrant characters at least doubled, but that coincided with a drop in Latino representation from half of all immigrant characters to just 34. That underrepresents the actual proportion of U.S. immigrants who are Latino, which is 44. On the other hand, Api immigrant characters’ 27 share (up from 12 in 2020) is now proportionate with reality.
The new report, which builds on findings released in October 2018 and September 2020, analyzed 167 characters across 169 episodes of 79 scripted series that aired or streamed between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2022.

From the very first episode of Never Have I Ever, Devi has professed to want to lose her virginity Asap. Though her heart has not always been 100 percent behind the endeavor — as was the case in the Season 3 premiere — she enters the season finale with the determination not to be one of those “dusty” virgins who goes off to college unsullied.
The topic arises after two significant developments take place. First, Devi is chosen to attend a prestigious — if hippie-ish — program for seniors in Colorado. Admittance all but paves the way to the Ivy League, increasing her chances of getting admitted to Princeton.

With Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever” now speeding toward its senior season, series star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan shared what sets it apart from other high school shows — its heart.
“We pack a punch into a good old half-hour comedy,” Ramakrishnan told Variety in an interview ahead of the show’s Season 3 launch. “It’s very heartwarming. Real things are being spoken about, in a way that it’s natural. It’s organic, it’s relatable. And that’s why many people — not just young South Asian, brown girls — can relate to it.”
Crediting the show’s uniquely-drawn characters and smart, poignant writing, fans have now devoured three seasons worth of high school hijinks, watching as Ramakrishnan’s Devi Vishwakumar evolved from hot-headed over-achiever (with John McEnroe as her inner narrator) to a slightly-less impulsive teen still trying to find her place in the world. And as the comedy follows Devi...

Spoiler alert: The following article discusses the entirety of “Never Have I Ever” Season 3.
“Never Have I Ever” Season 3 could have ended much, much differently.
As much as the show is grounded by its lovably irreverent protagonist Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), its junior season makes strides in maturity, displaying growth in both its central character as well as its ensemble cast. In one of the finale’s concluding scenes, the high schooler makes a tearful decision to stay at Sherman Oaks High because she’s not ready to leave her mother — with whom she’s continually grieved the loss of her father, Mohan — for the progressive and posh Colorado Ivy-prep school to which she’s been invited for her senior year.
“We actually pitched out an intro to Season 4 that was her going, like we had her just leaving at the end of Season 3,” showrunner, executive producer and co-creator Lang Fisher told TheWrap.

This article contains spoilers for Never Have I Ever season 3.
Never Have I Ever started its journey on Netflix as a unique perspective on the trials and tribulations of teenage life told from a South Asian perspective. Mindy Kaling and her team have found all the right notes through the last three seasons to capture the experience of growing up as a first generation Indian-American. Romance has always been at the heart of the story, but the third season takes the relationships to an entirely different prevalence.
Nearly every character is tied to another, and they change partners quicker than a game of musical chairs. This can make it hard to process who is compatible with who, but we will do our best to rank the couples by their chemistry. Note that just because a couple ends up together at the end of the season, it doesn’t mean they...

Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is back for a third season of high school love and life lessons, with this year also exploring some more adult struggles and of course, a new heartthrob.
“What I thought was interesting in this season is this idea of when my parents immigrated here, my mom didn’t have female friends. This idea that Nalini [played by Poorna Jagannathan] is a lonely woman who is an immigrant whose husband died and her having a female Indian friend was really fun to write and important to see,” co-creator Mindy Kaling told The Hollywood Reporter at the show’s Los Angeles premiere on Thursday. “I’d never seen that on TV and I wanted to see that.”
And after the show has already divided its audience into Team Paxton (played by Darren Barnet) and Team Ben (played by Jaren Lewison), Kaling added a new boy into Devi...
