Has run for President of the United States as a Green Party candidate (1996 & 2000) and an independent (2004 & 2008). He received his highest percentage of the popular vote in 2000 (3%).
During the 1960s, was a major campaigner for laws requiring the
existence and use of seatbelts, padded dashes, shatter proof
windshields in every car in America, saving literally hundreds of
thousands of american lives.
Was once chosen to be the keynote speaker for a convention of Chevrolet Corvair collectors.
