Exclusive: Film Bridge International has acquired international rights to the action thriller Valiant One and will be selling the film at the upcoming American Film Market.

Steve Barnett directs the flick in his feature debut. Starring are Chase Stokes (Outer Banks) and Lana Condor (To All the Boys franchise). The story follows a routine mission that goes awry when a U.S. Army helicopter crashes deep within North Korean territory. Now, a team of non-combat tech specialists, led by Captain Edward Brockman, must navigate the hostile terrain and fend off North Korean forces as they desperately race to escort a civilian tech specialist across the treacherous Demilitarized Zone.

Briarcliff Entertainment will release the film in the U.S. on January 31, 2025.

The film is produced by Bernie Goldmann (300) and Alan Powell, and executive produced by Vicky Patel. Stokes served as co-executive producer. Written by Barnett and Eric Tipton with counsel from former members of the U.

The state of horror in 2023 is strong. Familiar names such as Brandon Cronenberg and Eli Roth returned with "Infinity Pool" and "Thanksgiving" and so did "Re-Animator" screenwriter Dennis Paoli, writer of "Suitable Flesh," his first realized feature script in over 20 years. Last King of the Cross is not going anywhere. After a breakout season in Australia, Paramount+ has renewed the crime drama for a second season while it works out details for it to air in other parts of the world, per Variety. Season one of the series is expected to air in the US later this year.

Could they have saved themselves the effort of making it? The answer is a resounding “yes”. It’s just another horror telefilm and which with this supposed regeneration of the tale – without covering any new ground – loses almost everything quitessential from the novel and destroys everything that the 1984 film had about it that was good.

After experiencing long delays, the latest Children of the Corn installment was finally released in theaters on March 3. The film serves as a prequel to Stephen King's 1977 short story and gives audiences a deeper insight into the events leading up to the children's murderous rampage. Unlike the 1984 film, He Who Walks Behind the Rows is physically depicted in the latest chapter, amending what many consider to be the original Children of the Corn's biggest mistake.

Children of the Corn is written and directed by Kurt Wimmer and stars Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey, and Bruce Spence. While Kampouris is most well-known for her role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Moyer worked on projects such as Hulu's Holly Hobbie and The Handmaid's Tale. Some of Wimmer's credits include Law Abiding Citizen, Equilibrium, and Spell.

They’re back. Rlje Films presents the Stephen King reboot Children of the Corn by Kurt Wimmer on 500+ screens. It’s a redo of the classic 1984 slasher-horror film about kids possessed by a demonic spirit in a dying cornfield, with bloody, rampaging results.

King’s iconic short story features a 12-year-old Nebraska girl who recruits the kids in her small town for a killing spree of all the adults, and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival. There are some new twists, in Wimmer’s version, the corn is genetically modified. Starring Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey and Bruce Spence.

The story is great, spawning numerous spinoffs beginning with Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice in 1992 followed by Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest in 1995. Most went direct to video.

The film Children of the Corn, based on the Stephen King short story, spawned a franchise of considerable durability, but rather dubious quality. The first film was released in 1984 and the series sputtered to a halt in 2018 after the tenth entry, Children of the Corn: Runaway. But nothing ever really dies in the corn and two years later Children of the Corn got its second reboot following the TV version in 2009.

Or rather a reboot was written and directed by Kurt Wimmer. Wimmer who has directed Equilibrium and Ultraviolet is no stranger to reboots having written the new versions of Point Break, The Thomas Crown Affair and Total Recall. But after filming it seemed to disappear back into the cornfields for three years of vague mentions of release dates that came and went.

We move from February into March this week, which means the arrival of Scream VI is now just over one week away. But before we get there, we’ve got other fresh horrors to consume.

This week, Six brand new horror movies will be released, and included in the mix is the latest installment in a long-running franchise based on a classic Stephen King horror novel.

First up, Gravitas Ventures unleashes Wolf Garden via On Demand outlets today (February 28), being described by Gravitas as a “elevated horror picture in the tradition of It Follows.”

The latest entry in the ever-growing canon of Stephen King screen adaptations is Children of the Corn, based on the horror legend’s 1977 short story of the same name. Rlje Films has today released its official trailer ahead of its theatrical premiere March 3rd.

Though Children of the Corn was already made famous thanks to the polarizing 1984 slasher flick, this new version by writer and director Kurt Wimmer is a “chilling new re-telling” of the story about a cult of children who aim to kill every adult in their small Nebraska town. While the main antagonist of the original story and the ’80s film was a nine-year-old boy named Isaac, the 2023 iteration focuses on the tween, pigtailed villain Eden (Kate Moyer).

“Prepare to witness the horrific rise of the next generation of evil,” narrates an eerie, gravelly voice at the beginning of the trailer, as we see vignettes of Eden’s blood-soaked malevolence.

Children of the Corn trailer finally reveals the long-delayed Stephen King remake. King’s Children of the Corn short story appeared in his legendary collection Night Shift, and later went on to be adapted as a somewhat-maligned 1984 feature film. This seemingly minor King adaptation then somehow spawned a string of sequels, many released direct to video, concluding with 2018’s Children of the Corn: Runaway.

But now Children of the Corn is back (again) via a remake film that promises to put a new prequel spin on King’s original story.

The first trailer for the long-delayed film is indeed now out via Rlje Films, and those religious fanatic killer kids are definitely up to no good in this latest iteration. As the synopsis reads:

Nearly three years have gone by since we first heard that Equilibrium writer/director Kurt Wimmer was at the helm of a new adaptation of the Stephen King short story Children of the Corn – and the project (which was filmed in Australia) was one of the few productions that didn’t have to shut down during the first wave of pandemic lockdowns back in early 2020. In October of 2020, the movie was given a theatrical release… in just two theatres in Sarasota, Florida. But now we finally know when those of us who didn’t see the movie in Sarasota are going to have the chance to watch it. Wimmer’s Children of the Corn has been acquired by Shudder and Rlje Films and will be getting an 18 day theatrical release beginning on March 3rd. A digital and VOD release will follow on March 21st.

King’s short story about a small farming town taken over by murderous religious zealot children was first adapted into a feature film back in 1984. That movie is not exactly considered a classic, but nevertheless, nine more Children of the Corn films have been released over the decades, the last arriving in 2018.
