Three years since Elizabeth Banks was honored as Pioneer Of The Year in 2019, the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation returned Wednesday night with their Pioneer Of The Year dinner, this time honoring James Bond franchise producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. It was a welcome return for the industry charity which earned what co-chair Erik Lomis (with Heather Morgan) announced was a healthy haul of 1.5M dollars for the cause.

“Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives” is the latest documentary from Chris Smith, the director of “Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened” and “100 Foot Wave,” and an executive producer of “Tiger King.” The four-part Netflix docuseries, which Smith executive produced and directed, explores how New York City celebrity restaurateur Sarma Melngailis went from being the queen of vegan cuisine to fugitive on the run. In 2011, Melngailis – owner of Manhattan’s Pure Food and Wine – began draining the restaurant’s funds and funneling the money to Shane Fox, a con man. Fox convinced Melngalis that he could make her pet pitbull terrier immortal if she obeyed his every request without question. After stealing nearly $2 million from the restaurant and its staff, Melngalis and Fox were found holed up in a Tennessee motel by law enforcement. Their undoing? A charge made under Fox’s real name, Anthony Strangis, for a Domino’s pizza.

Forbes Entertainment and Entertainment One have partnered to produce multiple projects based on the alleged bitcoin laundering operation of Heather Morgan and Ilya Lichtenstein, the companies announced Wednesday.
As reported by The New York Times, Morgan and Lichtenstein were arrested on Feb. 8 under charges relating to a 2016 hack of the Bitcoin virtual currency exchange. The two reportedly stole over 120,000 Bitcoin assets, and then laundered the cryptocurrency through fake identities and online accounts. The two stand accused of laundering around $3.6 billion in Bitcoin. Prior to being arrested, Morgan worked in financial journalism, and from 2017 to 2021 was a contributor for the ForbesWomen vertical on Forbes.com.
Forbes and eOne’s projects will be based on Forbes’ reporting on the couple. Under the partnership, the companies have begun production on a documentary film about Morgan and Lichtenstein, which is executive produced by Geno McDermott and Jordan Rosenblum for Blackfin, a subsidiary of eOne.

The companies have teamed to produce a scripted series and a documentary about the scandal following the Feb. 8 arrest in Manhattan of so-called “crypto couple,” Heather Morgan and Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein, who are awaiting trial on charges alleging they tried to launder $3.6 billion in stolen bitcoin. The scripted project is co-produced by eOne, Forbes Entertainment and Tucker Tooley Entertainment, and the documentary hails from eOne’s Blackfin and Forbes Entertainment.

At their bail hearing, Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan — who have been accused of conspiracy to launder billions in cryptocurrency — argued that they would not flee the country between now and their trial in part because the married couple’s frozen embryos are stored in New York. Judge Beryl Howell delivered an excoriating ruling in which she released Morgan and detained Lictenstein, saying evidence indicated he had the knowledge and the means to flee rather than appear at their trial.

Mere days after rapper and self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur” Heather Morgan was arrested for conspiring to launder $4.5 billion in stolen Bitcoin, Netflix announced it has ordered a docuseries on her and her husband, Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein, who was also picked up by the feds.
The docuseries will be directed by Chris Smith, who will also executive-produce alongside Nick Bilton. Smith helmed Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary, as well as the recent HBO surfing docuseries 100 Foot Wave. Bilton, meanwhile, is a Vanity Fair journalist who also served as a producer on...

As reported by the New York Times, Lichtenstein and Morgan were arrested on Feb. 8 for charges relating to a 2016 hack of the Bitcoin virtual currency exchange. Allegedly, the two hacked into the exchange and stole around $120,000 Bitcoin. The team behind Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary and HBO’s Elizabeth Holmes doc have teamed up to produce a docuseries about a pair of alleged bitcoin money launderers.
Netflix has ordered a series about Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, who were arrested and face charged for conspiring to launder around $3.6B worth of Bitcoin.
Morgan, a hipster rapper otherwise known as Razzlekhan and Forbes contributor, and her husband Lichtenstein were arrested earlier this week in New York after being accused of conspiring to launder nearly 120,000 Bitcoin tied to the 2016 hack of a virtual currency exchange.
The value of the stolen Bitcoin soared from $71M at the time of the hack to nearly $5B and they allegedly tried to liquidate their digital money by creating fake identities and online accounts, and buying physical gold, NFTs, and more – all while investigators raced to track the money’s movement on the blockchain.

The recent arrest of Heather Morgan and her husband Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein had everything: a pair of serial entrepreneurs conspiring to launder $4.5 billion in stolen Bitcoin, Morgan’s side hustle as a rapper named Razzklekhan, and, of course, the ultimate Status Cat: a Bengal named Clarissa, which is apparently illegal to own in New York City, where the couple lived.

Heather Morgan is a lot of things: A 31-year-old economist and self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur” who’s worked in tech for a decade, a Forbes contributor from 2018 to 2021, a surrealist artist whose beyond-trippy pieces are often inspired by her synesthesia and sometimes include prosthetic eyeballs, and an outlandish rapper who spits about villainous capitalists. She has also been accused by the Department of Justice of participating in criminal activities.
On Tuesday, February 8th, feds arrested Morgan and her husband Ilya “Dutch” Lichtenstein for allegedly conspiring to launder $4.5 billion in stolen Bitcoin.

Brett Eldredge all but reinvented his sound with 2020’s Sunday Drive, leaving behind overly polished mainstream country for nuanced story-songs. To his credit, he’s not only sticking with the vibe of that album but building on it. His new song “Holy Water,” surprise-released on Christmas Eve to coincide with Eldredge’s association with the season, is a grand piano number that shows off the Chicago-area native’s range. It’s decidedly not a holiday song, but it does paint in similar tones of hope and redemption.

Some of the major nominees at Sunday night’s 61st annual Grammy Awards are women working in the genre of country music, from Kacey Musgraves to Margo Price. But those artists still aren’t gaining traction at country radio, an ongoing issue that NBC’s Today Show addressed in its “Sunday Spotlight” segment.
The report centered on the work of the “Girls of Nashville” collective, a group of singer-songwriters, including Caitlyn Smith, Heather Morgan and Mags Duval, who stage regular all-women concerts in Nashville. In the Today clip, they’re shown performing at City Winery,...

The world has gotten to see a whole new side of Scotty McCreery in 2018, and now the former American Idol winner will round off the year with a fresh U.S. tour in support of his latest LP, Seasons Change, with support from Jimmie Allen and Heather Morgan.
Far from the deep-voiced kid who won the 10th season of the reality TV show before he’d even turned 18, the now 24-year-old McCreery reinvented himself this year with his first release since leaving Mercury Records, scoring a Number One with “Five More Minutes.

At the end of the most recent season of his superb FX series, Louis C.K. made an unusual pass at long-form storytelling. “Late Show” finds Louie at its most overtly dramatic and—for a show that regularly exults in narrative ellipsis and melancholia—its most accessible as well. It tells the story, over three episodes, of our hero’s unlikely journey to succeed an apparently retiring David Letterman. As an increasingly confident director, C.K. has continued to explore more adventurous possibilities. Louie is essentially a hybrid of the comedian’s impulses as a stand-up and as a straight-ahead sketch writer. The man on stage, with all his fear and responsibility and desire and dread, is dropped into a world conceived to afflict these very qualities, a world that must be endured. The jokes come later, when we can make sense of it all. Whatever truth is to be discovered...

Gather 'round fans, step right up and experience an old timey black & white film from 1998 for only 5 bucks! After premiering at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival over 15 years ago, one of comedian/filmmaker Louis C.K.'s first films has finally been released. The film is titled Tomorrow Night and is an odd B&W comedy featuring one hell of a classic cast: Steve Carell, Robert Smigel, J.B. Smoove, Chuck Sklar, Martha Greenhouse, Heather Morgan, Rick Shapiro. The full 87-minute film is now available to buy for only $5 on LouisCK.net. It's worth it to see a rare but hilarious indie comedy, plus these comedians a while ago. Louis has been making the rounds in press and movies (he's in American Hustle and Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine) recently, promoting his show and this film release, and can be heard ranting about Gravity and All is Lost over here; plus he's now...
