- His last major TV appearance was in 1986 on "Saturday Night's Main Event," when he was scheduled to wrestle the Iron Sheik. - Most memorable match was vs. fellow fan favorite Bruno Sammartino. Their 75-minute match, held Sept. 30, 1972 at Shea's Stadium in New York, was the result of a rift the two had a couple of months earlier (thanks to heels Mr. Fuji and Professor Toru Tanaka).
