Los Angeles, Nov 19 (Ians) Actress Selma Blair, who discovered in 2018 that she has multiple sclerosis and has been in remission since 2021, has said that she wants to design her own “kick ass” wheelchair.
After working on her latest venture, an accessible fashion line with her designer pal, Isaac Mizrahi, she’s already thinking of other ideas to not only help the lives of those living with disabilities but to make them look bougie.
She told Parade magazine: “Oh my gosh. I want chic. I want room to play. There are things beyond my pay grade but people with disabilities should have ostentatious fun.”
“I’d love to have a collaboration with a company to make a wheelchair. I want to make a kick-ass thing for everyone so we can all get on the same talking page. To have luxury goods coveted by all but especially the disabled community can be a real equaliser.

I really want someone to do a biopic of your life because it’s so interesting,” said Shepherd, who has recently appeared as Senator Evette Chase in HBO’s “The Sex Lives of College Girls.”
Mizrahi ran with the suggestion, responding, “Me too. My memoir. I am a memoir. I wrote a memoir.”

Sherri Shepherd praised Wendy Williams for her “fearlessness” as a daytime talk host. “She’s up there with the greats,” Shepherd told Bravo’s Andy Cohen last night.
“She made her own path, but what Wendy does nobody can re-create,” Shepherd said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen (see the clip above). “I love her fearlessness, and that is something I want to emulate and keep going. She opened a lot of doors and she’s up there with the greats.”
Earlier this week, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, the producer-distributor of The Wendy Williams Show, announced that the Shepherd-hosted Sherri will succeed Williams’ show, which is expected to continue through the end of this season with rotating guest hosts, including Shepherd, as Williams is sidelined with health issues. Next fall, Sherri will make its syndication debut on the Fox Television Stations and broadcasters nationwide, inheriting the Fox time slots of Wendy Williams.

Jenna Lyons, the former creative director and president of J. Crew, is now a reality show star. HBO Max’s “Stylish With Jenna Lyons” follows her as she builds her design firm while hosting a competition to find her new employees. Variety checked in with Lyons ahead of the series’ Dec. 3 premiere to find out some of her favorite fashion moments on film.
Favorite fashion in film: The first time I saw “Belle de Jour,” it made me want to run to the hairdresser, wear thick black eyeliner, granny shoes, silk stockings and a trench coat. Catherine Deneuve is breathtakingly beautiful, poised, with a certain darkness to her.
I also recently rewatched “To Catch a Thief.” Cary Grant and Grace Kelly are absolute visual magic. Grant’s effortless grace and style made me appreciate menswear in a way I hadn’t before.
Favorite film that takes place in the fashion world: “Unzipped.

Walter Mercado knew how to make an entrance.
Just ask the filmmakers behind the new Netflix documentary “Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado” about meeting the iconic television astrologer for the first time at his home just outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“We go into his office and meet his secretary and his nieces and they take us upstairs to one of his sitting rooms,” co-director Kareem Tabsch tells Variety. “It’s a sunken and about three steps down. It’s jammed full of books, religious iconography, pictures of James Dean, Rita Hayworth and Oscar Wilde and La Virgen de la Caridad. We’re probably kept waiting for about 40 or 45 minutes when all of a sudden, Walter just appears hovering. You know, he’s dressed like Christina, Alex, he’s dressed head to toe and white linen with his mane of hair and these gold Yves Saint Laurent glasses.

“It’s anybody’s game,” said Dmitry Sholokhov at the beginning of the “Project Runway All Stars” season finale. He had won the show twice before and was going for an unprecedented three-peat, but this season of “All Stars” featured nothing but past champions, so he was up against fellow Us winners Michelle Lesniak and Irina Shabayeva as well as Canadian “Runway” victor Evan Biddell. Who was named the “Runway” world champion at the end of the night?
The episode got off to an exciting start with the announcement of the final challenge. After weeks of unique, innovative and highly specific design tasks that ran the gamut from airplane materials to Willy Wonka inventions, the designers had no rules at all for their finale collections. This time around, the designers were given more freedom than ever, challenged with creating a six-look collection in four days with a budget of $3,000. “The specific theme can be whatever you want,” host Alyssa Milano revealed, which seemed to please everyone. Let’s see how this all panned out…

In the world of fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. Unless you’re on “Project Runway All Stars,” in which case you’re just in. At the end of “Modern Families,” the penultimate episode of season seven, the judges had to decide which designer to eliminate before sending the final three to next week’s season finale. But they ultimately decided not to decide. Instead, they made the unorthodox choice to send all four of them to the finale. What did you think of that twist? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Michelle Lesniak, Evan Biddell, Irina Shabayeva and Dmitry Sholokhov were all feeling the pressure. For the Canadian Biddell, advancing to the finale meant getting an opportunity to present an entire collection for the first time to the American “Runway” audience. For Lesniak it meant redemption...

With only two episodes left this season, Wednesday’s Project Runway All Stars presented the remaining four designers with their greatest challenge yet — and not everyone rose to the occasion.
“Recently, what constitutes a family has been debated in society; families now come in all shapes and sizes,” Alyssa Milano told the group before explaining this week’s “family” challenge: “You will each be creating outfits for three members of a modern family. Your designs must be cohesive, because each of your families will take a portrait photo together, and that family portrait will be revealed to everyone on the runway.

There are only four designers left in the special all-champions edition of “Project Runway All Stars,” so there’s nowhere to hide. One stitch out of place could mean disaster, especially with the way the competition has swung wildly all season, with contestants going right from the top of the heap to the bottom of the pack and vice versa. So who (if anyone) will be ousted in the season’s penultimate challenge?
According to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users, Michelle Lesniak is the likeliest to be eliminated. She gets leading odds of 23/10 of being sent home even though she has been one of the strongest contestants all season with two challenge wins and four other high scores. She even had a four-week streak from episodes 7-10 where she was in the judges’ top three every time.

The judges on “Project Runway All Stars” sure are unforgiving. The two designers on the chopping block at the end of “Nina Says Don’t Cry Over Spilt Silk” were Anthony Ryan Auld and Michelle Lesniak, the only two designers who had won two previous design challenges (Lesniak just won her second last week). It was Auld who ended up exiting the competition after a challenge he tearfully struggled with, but I don’t think he really deserved to go. He was one of the best designers of the season, and maybe I’m in the minority but I thought he was one of the better designers of the night too. Do you agree? Auld’s heart wasn’t really in this week’s challenge, which was to design a gown for a royal ball with luxurious silk.

Royal fever swept Wednesday’s Project Runway All Stars, which tasked the remaining five designers with creating ball gowns using luxurious silks. To elevate this experience, the challenge was presented by special guest judge Nina Garcia, a longtime member of Runway’s royal court.
And while tensions certainly ran high this week, the outcome was fairly predictable. From the moment the challenge was announced, Irina Shabayeva’s fellow contestants projected that she would win, given her extensive gown-designing experience. And even though she did come out on top with her “dynamite” design — a modern, sexier version of a ball gown...

As Heidi Klum used to say on “Project Runway,” “In fashion, one day you’re in, and the next you’re out” … unless you’re Dmitry Sholokhov. The bulletproof designer, who won both “Runway” season 10 and “All Stars” season 4, has looked just as indomitable in “All Stars” season 7, which brought together an entire cast of past champions from around the world. He won the very first challenge of the season and has been safe every week since. But in “All-Inclusive” he found himself in uncharted territory: the bottom two! My hot take is that the judges’ criticisms were overdue.
“All-Inclusive” challenged the designers to create gender-neutral street-wear looks for various male, female, and non-binary models. Sholokhov’s primary inspiration was a trench coat with a crisscross in the front and an open back, all in a silver metallic fabric. Judge Georgina Chapman praised him for his “flawless,” “polished” clothes, but...

Sean Kelly just couldn’t get it together on “Project Runway All Stars.” He won the red carpet design challenge in “Pedal to the Metal,” but that turned out to be a rare triumph for him. He was plagued by inconsistency, and he ended up with more low scores than anyone else this season so far. This week, in “All-Inclusive,” he landed in the judges’ bottom three for the fifth time, and that was the last straw. Scroll down to vote in our poll to let us know if you thought he deserved his fate.
As a male “Project Runway” fan,” the “All-Inclusive” challenge was my favorite of the season so far since it required the designers to create gender-neutral street-wear looks for variety of male, female and gender-nonconforming models — at last I could judge the designers by whether I would be caught dead in their looks! Kelly’s idea...

The remaining six designers were thrown for a bit of a loop on Wednesday’s episode of Project Runway All Stars, which required them to think a little differently about gender and fashion.
“Social awareness about gender has finally become an open conversation,” host Alyssa Milano told the contestants, each of whom would have to “design gender-neutral high-fashion street wear” for a model who either identifies as male, female or non-binary. Though the designers were given their models’ measurements, they wouldn’t actually get to meet them until it was time for the first runway fitting.

In the first six weeks of competition on “Project Runway All Stars” there had been six different design challenge winners — no repeats. That finally changed in the lucky seventh week. Or at least, it was lucky for Anthony Ryan Auld, who won the “Pure Imagination” avant garde challenge. That made him the first contestant to win two challenges. Did he deserve his repeat victory? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
This challenge, inspired by “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” was to create a never-before-seen fashion invention that would be incorporated into their looks. Auld’s idea was a coat that would aid in communication: a wearable dry-erase board. The ever-supportive Dmitry Sholokhov wondered what the point of such an invention was in a world full of smartphones, but the judges didn’t share his grumpy assessment.

Django Steenbakker‘s elimination from “Project Runway All Stars” was a long time coming. He spent three weeks in a row in the judges’ bottom three, but the avant garde challenge in “Pure Imagination” was the last straw. Did he really deserve to be sent home instead of Sean Kelly, who was convinced he would be axed after he had to scrap an idea and start over mid-challenge. Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
The avant garde challenge this week was inspired by “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” It was the two-time Tony-winning star of that Broadway musical Christian Borle who told the top nine designers that they had to create a new fashion invention for their bold designs. But Steenbakker struggled with both directives. He seemed to think inventing was fundamentally inconsistent with being a designer. And he appeared not to...

“What we’ll see will defy explanation.” Those lyrics from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” couldn’t have been more fitting on “Project Runway All Stars.” In episode seven, “Pure Imagination,” the designers embarked on this season’s avant garde challenge. So who got the judges’ golden ticket, and who was booted from this factory tour? Scroll down for our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
The avant garde challenge has always been an opportunity for designers to let their freak flags fly, but they had better fly high, especially this season. In the first six weeks of the competition the judges saw some wild, unflattering designs, but they have often been harder on contestants who created bland, uninspired looks (like Juli Grbac) than those who took big swings and missed (like three-time low-scorer Django Steenbakker). And when it comes to avant garde fashion, there’s nothing worse than boring.
