“Vikings: Valhalla” returns with its second season Jan. 12, but Variety has the exclusive first look at the “Vikings” prequel’s Season 2 trailer to tide fans over for another month.
Based on the History Channel series “Vikings” created by Michael Hirst, “Vikings: Valhalla” is set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century and chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
The second season, which consists of eight episodes running 49 minutes each, finds our heroes shortly after the tragic fall of Kattegat; an event that has shattered their dreams and altered their destinies, per Netflix’s official description. Finding themselves suddenly fugitives in Scandinavia they are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Kattegat.

Netflix’s new trailer for Firefly Lane season two part one shows there’s tension between Tully and Kate, but it sort of balances that out by revealing more about their lifelong friendship. Part one of the final season premieres on December 2, 2022, with season two part two arriving in 2023.
Season one of the drama, based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah, debuted in February 2021 and starred Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as lifelong best friends who stuck by each other’s side through thick and thin. Heigl and Chalke are back as Tully and Kate, respectively, for the second season. They’re joined by returning cast members Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan, Ali Skovbye as young Tully, Roan Curtis as young Kate, Yael Yurman as Marah, and Beau Garrett as Cloud.
Netflix’s official description:

More like “Fifty Shades of Beige,” “Brazen” applies an unconvincing dollop of kink into an equally by-the-numbers suburban mystery, providing a vehicle for producer-star Alyssa Milano as a crime novelist turned sleuth after her sister’s murder. This Netflix adaptation of a 1988 tome by prolific romance scribe Nora Roberts is slick but increasingly silly, its various elements so obvious and formulaic that they induce giggles more than chills by the climax. Still, whether viewers are looking for unintentional laughs or the streaming equivalent of a throwaway beach read, Monika Mitchell’s feature does offer some guilty-pleasure entertainment value.
Introduced reading from her latest “Brazen Virtue” (the actual Roberts novel this is based on) at a public event, Milano’s Grace Miller is a celebrity author with a big fanbase. Having frowned upon some of Kathleen’s (Emilie Ullerup) past life choices, she hasn’t actually seen her younger sibling in five years,...

"Careful, Grace. Reign in your over-active imagination. Or I will do it for you." Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for Brazen, a murder mystery thriller adapted from "Brazen Virtue" by Nora Roberts. Grace, a prominent mystery writer and crime expert, hurries to her family home in Washington, D.C., after her estranged sister summons her. But when her sister is killed and her double life as a webcam performer is revealed, Grace ignores the warnings of the detective and gets involved in the case... Which doesn't sound like a good idea? But "true crime" is popular these days! So why not? Alyssa Milano stars as Grace, along with Sam Page, Malachi Weir, Barry W. Levy, Colleen Wheeler, Lossen Chambers, and Matthew Finlan. This looks like the weekly "crime drama" TV special, not anything worthwhile to watch in theaters. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Monika Mitchell's Brazen,...

Your prayers have been answered, “Virgin River” fans: The romance series has scored a two-season pickup, being renewed for both Seasons 4 and 5 at Netflix, the streaming service said Monday.
Starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, “Virgin River” tells the love story of Mel Monroe (Breckenridge), who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind.
Per Netflix, the 10-episode third season of the romance series, which launched in July, “left fans with more questions about the residents of this small town after a funeral, a fire, a divorce, a hurricane and a new romance.”
Looks like with at least two more seasons to go, those fans will be getting answers — hopefully — and lots and lots more loving between Jack (Henderson) and Mel.

Netflix dropped the trailer for the third season of its romance series “Virgin River” on Friday, revealing Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) fate after the Season 2 finale ended with him bleeding out from a gunshot wound on the floor next to Melinda “Mel” Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge).
Luckily, the video shows us almost immediately that Jack is Ok, but he is going to need some downtime to recover from the injury and Mel is the biggest supporter of him staying in bed — for medical reasons and romantic ones.
Yes, these two lovebirds are finally, officially in a real relationship, which means things are about to get complicated in a different way, as the topic of having a baby together comes up between them — and pretty much everyone else in town. Mel might want to, but she’s obviously still traumatized by the death of her family. Jack might not want to...

Drama, drama, drama: “Virgin River” has been renewed for a third season, Netflix said on Friday.
That news means we’ll get some payoff on those Season 2 cliffhangers, like Jack (Martin Henderson) being shot, the whole Paige/Michelle’s (Lexa Doig) dead-husband’s-twin-brother thing, a child-sized wrench being thrown in Preacher’s (Colin Lawrence) plans to move to San Francisco and become a fancy chef and Doc (Tim Matheson) getting some mysterious — and seemingly bad — health news from another doc in another town.
Yeah, it’s A Lot.
No premiere date has been set for the upcoming Season 3. The second season debuted on Netflix on Nov. 27.
“Virgin River” follows a recently widowed big-city nurse (Alexandra Breckenridge) who moves to the redwood forests of northern California, where she meets an intriguing man (Henderson).
The series also stars Lauren Hammersley and Annette O’Toole. Joining the cast for Season 3 will be Zibby Allen and Stacey Farber.

Get ready, everyone: Netflix's The Knight Before Christmas might have a sequel on the way. The latest holiday rom-com from Netflix features Vanessa Hudgens as Brooke, a modern-day science teacher who meets Sir Cole (Josh Whitehouse), a medieval knight who has been magically sent to the future. Of course, magic and romance ensue, and as it turns out, there are already ideas in motion for what could come in a sequel.
Director Monika Mitchell revealed her idea for a The Knight Before Christmas sequel to Glamour - and it's probably not quite what you'd think. While the natural progression for a sequel might see more of Cole's adaptation to the modern world, or perhaps cast Brooke back in time for a reversal of the original, Mitchell suggests that a different focus might be ahead:

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Netflix’s “The Knight Before Christmas.”)
Netflix launched its latest original Christmas movie, “The Knight Before Christmas” on Thursday, one of six it has set to roll out this holiday season. This film, starring Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Whitehouse, is connected to those others — and the streaming services season flicks from previous years — with little shout-outs.
Eagle-eyed viewers probably noticed that Sir Cole (Whitehouse) is seen watching “Holiday in the Wild” — one of Netflix’s 2019 offerings, starring Kristin Davis and Rob Lowe — and Brooke’s (Vanessa Hudgens) parents brought her a Christmas ornament from Aldovia — the fictional country where the “A Christmas Prince” franchise takes place — when she was a child.
Hudgens says these Easter eggs are what brings “The Knight Before Christmas” into the Netflix Holiday Movie Universe (we’re dubbing it the Nhwu right now).

"Who are we to tell him he's not who he says he is?" Netflix has revealed a trailer for the holiday romantic comedy The Knight Before Christmas, which looks more like a Hallmark Channel movie than anything Netflix should be making. It's as cheesy as they come. After a sorceress transports a medieval knight Sir Cole to present-day Ohio during the holiday season, he befriends a clever and kind science teacher who's been disillusioned by love. As they grow closer, so do their feelings for each other. Can their love overcome all the odds? Of course it can, that's how all these movies end. Starring Vanessa Hudgens as the teacher, Josh Whitehouse as the knight, and a cast including Emmanuelle Chriqui, Isabelle Franca, Ella Kenion, Harry Jarvis, and Jean-Michel Le Gal. This looks face-palm terrible with the most predictable of plots. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Monika Mitchell's The Knight Before Christmas,...

In a small, quaint room on the top floor of a sprawling bed and breakfast in Bracebridge, Canada, Vanessa Hudgens curls up in a wicker armchair and releases a deep sigh. She spent the afternoon unpacking and repacking a cardboard box filled to the brim with Christmas ornaments as a picturesque sprinkle of snow fell gently outside the window, and now she finally has a moment to put down the glittery tree toppers and take a breather. No, I'm not casually hanging out with the superstar at home for the holidays - I'm getting a glimpse of what it's like on the set of Netflix's newest holiday rom-com, The Knight Before Christmas.

Vanessa Hudgens is on board to star in and executive produce a film for Netflix entitled The Knight Before Christmas. The movie is being directed by Monika Mitchell and written by Cara Russell, who have both worked on their fair share of TV movies in this genre. Think Christmas Hallmark movies, but now on Netflix. Deadline gave us this exclusive, along with this synopsis for the film:
The pic follows a gallant English knight who seeks out his true quest after a sorceress inadvertently sends him from the medieval era to present day. While there he soon finds himself falling for a caring high school science teacher who is disillusioned by love. Josh Whitehouse, who stars in MGM’s reboot of Valley Girl and the upcoming HBO Game of Thrones prequel, also stars. Cameras will roll this April in Ontario, Canada.

As a woman and a feminist, I’d like to offer this observation: There is nothing that can make you hate the word “female” like sitting in the audience of a panel devoted to women who make film or television.
The Winter 2019 Television Critics Association press tour is comprised of dozens of press conferences and panels, some of which took the forms of cooking demonstrations, musical performances, and live table reads. These gimmicks are fine; the TCAs are nothing if not a marathon, and the effort to do something different is appreciated.
However, too often the TCAs treated “women make TV” as its own gimmick, as if assembling a collection of TV producers who share a gender was enough to create a satisfying or insightful presentation.
Consider these four panels over the last 16 days:
NBC’s “Women of Drama” panel, featuring Jennifer Carpenter of “The Enemy Within,” Retta of “Good Girls,...

Lifetime Network kicked off Sunday’s TCA presentation with an announcement from Rob Sharenow, president of programming at A+E Network, saying they have 78% female directors. The industry is averaging 17%.
The network introduced a panel featuring female actors-directors including Kim Raver, Alyssa Milano, Monika Mitchell, Erika Christensen, Janice Cooke, Ginnifer Goodwin, Angela Fairley, Rhonda Baraka, Tiffany Hines, and Claire Scanlon, who discussed the importance of reaching a minimum 50/50 gender equity by 2020.
By working towards equality in Hollywood, the question as to whether male characters will suffer got a chuckle from the panel.
“I think female directors take that into consideration more than maybe a male director would,” Milano, who stars in Jane Green’s Tempting Fate, said. “I know that Kim was very adamant about making sure that all the characters were equally as developed.
The female directors I’ve worked with in the past has given people their equal opportunities.

Actress and activist Alyssa Milano responded to the news that toppled executive CBS Les Moonves had begun to make an attempted comeback in Hollywood with a new company by calling on others in the industry to protect the women around them.
“That’s gonna happen. We can’t expect that not to happen,” Milano told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour on Sunday. “We can’t put all these men on an island and say, ‘Eh, they’ll figure it out. Let them eat themselves.'”
The key, Milano said, is to implement systemic protections for women that won’t allow offenders to go on unaccountable for bad behavior.

In 1999 Monika Mitchell wrote, produced and directed a short film that she took to festivals. At the time, she recalled Sunday at a Television Critics Assn. press tour panel, when her name came up in the credits there were so few women helming projects that she overheard an executive say, “Monika’s a funny name for a guy.” In the two decades since that experience, she has crossed mediums between film and television, working most recently on Lifetime’s original movie “Jane Green’s To Have and to Hold,” while the industry around her has made slower advances. Currently there are 17% women directors, while only approximately 15 months after the #MeToo movement went viral men such as Louis C.K. and Les Moonves are getting back to work.

Exclusive: Lifetime has its leads for a pair of movies based on Jane Green novels. The cable net said today that Justina Machado, Elisabeth Röhm and Matt Passmore will star in Family Pictures and Erika Christensen, Antonio Cupo, Andy Favreau and Carmel Amit are set for To Have and to Hold.
Both movies premiere next year, along with another based on Green’s Tempting Fate, which will star Alyssa Milano.
Family Pictures stars Machado (Jane the Virgin) and Sylvie and Röhm (Law & Order) as Maggie, strangers living on opposite coasts, leading very similar lives with husbands that travel for work too much and daughters about to leave the nest. But when their daughters befriend each other on a college tour, they soon discover a shocking secret that threatens to tear both families apart. Passmore’s (Jigsaw) role was not specified.
Manu Boyer is directing from a script by Ilene Rosenzweig.

Mystery (project) solved. Lifetime has set The Christmas Contract movie with One Tree Hill alums Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Ackles, Antwon Tanner set to star, and a musical appearance from Tyler Hilton. Lifetime has acquired the film from Active Entertainment with debut set as part of the network’s annual It’s A Wonderful Lifetime holiday lineup later this year.
The former One Tree Hill cast members generated social media buzz earlier this week when they posted Instagram photos of themselves on the set of what Tanner called a “new project” with the hashtag #christmas2018. Filming on the movie began earlier this month in Louisiana. The Instagram and other social media posts were later deleted.
Jordan Ladd (Cabin Fever), Cheryl Ladd (Charlie’s Angels), Bruce Boxleitner (Tron), Jason London (Dazed and Confused), Hunter Burke (Claws), Teri Wyble (The Walking Dead), and Ritchie Montgomery (Baskets) also star.
