Following soap opera star Billy Miller’s death on Sunday, his mother has spoken out about her son’s battle with bipolar depression.

In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, Patricia Miller confirmed the 43-year-old’s death and stated that he was struggling with “manic depression” when he died.

“I want to personally thank the many fans and personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers and condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son Bj — Billy Miller,” she said. “He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end, the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.

“The other causes of death being told are not true,” Miller asserted. “I wish they were but they just aren’t.

Billy died Friday, two days before what would have been his 44th birthday. In an interview published Monday evening, Patricia clarified her son’s cause of death, which was not released with initial reports over the weekend.

“He fought a long, hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans. But in the end, the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life,” Patricia told Soap Opera Digest. “The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were, but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say.

Soap opera star Billy Miller’s mother is speaking out in the wake of her son’s death at 43 years old.

In a statement to Soap Opera Digest on Monday, Patricia Miller said the Daytime Emmy-winning star died after “a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression.”

Billy — who is best known for roles on “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” — died on Friday Et confirmed on Sunday — which would have marked his 44th birthday.

Billy’s family said that Miller died in Austin, Texas, and that “The actor was struggling with manic depression when he died.”

The mother of soap star Billy Miller, who died Friday at 43, released a statement that thanked fans and explained how her son “fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression.”

Patricia Miller said via X that her son “loved his friends, his family and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life.”

Miller was a three-time Daytime Emmy winner known for his roles on The Young and the Restless and General Hospital. He would have celebrated his 44th birthday Sunday.

The outpouring of support from colleagues and fans has been a constant on X over the last 24 hours, with many posting pictures and video from his time on the daytime dramas. Although Miller is best known for his soap roles, he also played Marcus Specter — Harvey’s younger brother — on Suits for several seasons.
