The new iteration of “The Office” currently in development has started to flesh out its cast.
Variety has confirmed with sources that Sabrina Impacciatore and Domhnall Gleeson are attached to the project, which remain in development at Universal Television. They would occupy two roles in what would be an ensemble cast, like the original versions of the show.
Reps for Utv declined to comment.
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman are co-creating the new series. It has previously been reported that it is not a reboot of “The Office” but is set in the same universe, meaning it would likely be set in a different office setting with all new characters.
Gleeson has recently starred in shows such as “Alice & Jack,” “The Patient,” “Frank of Ireland,” and “Run.” He is perhaps best known for his role as General Hux in the new “Star Wars” film trilogy. He has also starred in films such as “Frank,...

As “The Office” showrunner Greg Daniels looks to create a new series in the world of Dunder Mifflin, he’s tapped “Nathan for You” co-creator Michael Koman to help lead the project, sources tell Variety.
Daniels and Koman would serve as co-creators of the prospective series, which has not yet been greenlit to series and is still in development at Universal Television. It is not a reboot of “The Office” but is set in the same universe, meaning it would likely be set in a different office setting with all new characters.
Daniels opened a development room in January 2024 to begin working on the new iteration of the hit NBC mockumentary sitcom, which ran from 2005 to 2013 and was adapted from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s British series of the same name. Earlier this month, it was reported that The Office showrunner Greg Daniels was meeting with writers for a potential follow-up to the acclaimed comedy series, and the project seems to have taken another step forward. Deadline reports that Daniels has teamed up with Michael Koman, co-creator of Nathan For You, for this new Office series.
The new series would not be a reboot of The Office but take place in the same universe, just set in a new office with new characters. This would potentially allow for cameos or guest spots from cast members of the original series, but sources tell Deadline that a full-blown reunion isn’t in the cards. Daniels has said that the new series could follow a film crew doing a documentary about a different subject, which could mean just about anything.

Exclusive: As Greg Daniels continues to work with a group of writers on what could become an expansion of The Office universe, Nathan For You co-creator Michael Koman has emerged as a leading creative voice. If Daniels’ new mockumentary exploratory project gets greenlighted to series, Koman will serve as the offshoot’s co-creator, Deadline has learned.
The potential Office follow-up, from Universal Television, remains in development.
As Deadline revealed exclusively in January, the prospective new series, which is not a reboot, would likely be set in a new office with new characters but live within the same world as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series which follows employees at the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Writer Paul Mayhew-Archer has penned comedy drama But When We Dance based on his own experience of Parkinson’s. Here are the details:
Work has finally started on veteran comedy writer Paul Mayhew-Archer’s next project: But When We Dance, a feature length drama which was meant to go into production for the BBC over three years ago, but the pandemic threw the schedule into chaos.
Johnny Campbell is on board to direct from Mayhew-Archer’s script, while the BBC is currently finalising the cast.
The story “centres on two people with lots in common: a great sense of humour, a love of dance, and Parkinson’s,” according to Deadline.
Mayhew-Archer is probably best known for co-writing every episode of The Vicar Of Dibley with Richard Curtis. He has worked behind the scenes in BBC comedy since the 1980s, script editing shows as diverse as Steven Moffat’s Chalk to...

A wrestling legend producing a biopic about another wrestling legend? Dwayne Johnson is producing a film about Ric Flair called The Nature Boy.
Professional wrestling is a bit weird. From the overblown pageantry to the predetermined outcomes, it’s certainly unique, especially when you figure in the dark underbelly the strange hybrid of sport and entertainment possesses.
You may have seen in the news of late that Vince McMahon, the longtime billionaire owner of the WWE being the subject of intense media scrutiny having being accused of some particularly abominable behaviour. That may only be the tip of the iceberg, too.
The dark side of wrestling was previously explored in Barry Blaustein’s 1999 documentary, Beyond The Mat. In more recent years though, dramas such as Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler and this year’s The Iron Claw have explored the human cost of wrestling.

Ewen MacIntosh, the British character best known for his scene-stealing work as Keith on the original U.K. version of "The Office," has passed away at the age of 50. His cause of death remains unknown, but the BBC reports that he died at the Willow Green Care Home in Darlington. In a statement, MacIntosh's friend Ed Scott praised those who cared for him before his death:
"Thanks to the incredible care and love provided by the wonderful medical staff and especially the nurses who all loved him when he brought a smile to their days."
MacIntosh was not a household name, but comedy fans, and especially those who are familiar with the original incarnation of "The Office," surely remember Keith. A dull, slow-speaking, Scotch egg-devouring weirdo with a passion for DJ-ing, Keith embodied what the series did so well -- he genuinely felt like a very real, and very awful...

The Academy’s tendency to award trophies to Holocaust movies has long been whispered about — and even occasionally joked about by cheeky comedians.
In 2009, shortly after Kate Winslet won a Golden Globe for her performance as a former Auschwitz guard in “The Reader,” presenter Ricky Gervais pointed to her in the audience and deadpanned, “I told ya, do a Holocaust movie; the awards come.”
Winslet, who would go on to receive an Academy Award for her part in Stephen Daldry’s film, had several years earlier appeared on Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s HBO comedy “Extras” as an actor who stars in a film about the Holocaust in the hopes that it will earn her an Oscar.
The night of the Globes, Winslet laughed at Gervais’ ribbing, as did many in the crowd. It was a much a jab at the industry as much as it was at her.

The Office could finally be returning in some shape or form as the show’s executive producer, Greg Daniels, has opened a development room with his most trusted writers. According to Deadline, Daniels and his team will begin work on Tuesday, January 16, to explore ideas for a spinoff of the hit NBC sitcom. It will Not be a reboot but a new series set within the same universe as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series, which followed the lives of office workers at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Daniels was the man behind adapting the show — based on the original BBC series of the same name from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant — for American audiences. After a lukewarm reception to the first season, the show went on to become a critical and ratings success, winning multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series, in 2006. Fans have long wanted a reboot, but Daniels...

Exclusive: The long-awaited expansion of The Office universe appears to be getting closer to becoming a reality.
Greg Daniels, who adapted NBC’s The Office for American audiences based on the hit BBC series of the same name from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, is setting up a development room with his trusted writers, sources tell Deadline. It is set to begin work on Tuesday to explore ideas for a follow-up series.
The potential new series, which is not a reboot, would likely be set in a new office with new characters but live within the same world as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series which follows employees at the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
A documentary crew doing a documentary about a different subject is a possibility as a premise for a possible Office universe extension, Daniels has said.

Now that actor Hugh Jackman has decided to resurrect the role of 'Logan'/'Wolverine' in the upcoming feature "Deadpool 3", from the movie review site TheGoodTheBadandtheUgly.Ca, take another look at director James Mangold's "Logan":
Michael Stevens For: The Good
"R-Rated for 'strong brutal violence and language', actor Hugh Jackman cuts like a knife, in the part he was born to play, carving his initials into another fierce performance as Marvel's mutant 'Wolverine'.
"In the near future, the scarred, 150 year old, adamantium-clawed 'Old Man Logan' is reduced to guzzling liquor and cranking drugs, while his self-healing regenerative powers continue to wane.
"Logan picks up petty cash in El Paso as a driver for hire, while hunkering down in an industrial plant on a stretch of the Mexican border.

One of The Onion’s classic headlines reads: “Marilyn Manson Now Going Door-To-Door Trying To Shock People.” The satirical article, published in 2001, was a devastating blow to a musician whose career consisted of dressing like a lunatic and screaming profane lyrics. Once you shine a light on it, the shtick becomes embarrassing quickly.
That headline came to mind when reading a tweet Ricky Gervais posted in the days before the release of his new Netflix special, “Armageddon”: “In this show, I talk about sex, death, pedophilia, race, religion, disability, free speech, global warming, the holocaust and Elton John. If you don’t approve of jokes about any of these things, then please don’t watch. You won’t enjoy it and you’ll get upset.”

When The Office UK graced our screens, it left an indelible mark on the landscape of television comedy. Its sharp wit, uncomfortable silences, and unflinching portrayal of everyday office life made it a critical darling and a fan favorite. But what is the real reason behind its notably concise two-series run? Let’s explore the specific reasons that led to the show’s brief but impactful existence. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creative minds behind The Office UK, were newcomers to television writing. Steve Carrell portrayed iconic character Michael Scott for five seasons in The Office. But before he was cast as the character, he turned to Ricky Gervais’ Office performance for help. Only to realize that might’ve been a bad idea.
Why Steve Carrell refused to watch the rest of Ricky Gervais’ ‘Office’ performance as David Brent Ricky Gervais, Stuart Brothman, Bill Hilary, and Matt Roush | Bryan Bedder/Getty Images
Office initially started off as Gervais’ brainchild. The UK mockumentary series was originally created by the frequent Golden Globe host and his partner Stephen Merchant in 2001. Although it was short-lived, only lasting for a couple of seasons, it left an incredible impact on the television industry. So much so that the series lived on through the American version of The Office, which was considerably more successful than its predecessor.
Gervais played David Brent, who was the manager to the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company.

Okay, nobody panic, but we think we might be onto something… we think comedian Jack Dee might be in Taskmaster series 17. And it’s about flippin’ time.
You see, quite predictably, Alex Horne has been asked many times over the years who his dream Taskmaster contestant is – and he’s been blissfully, almost eerily, consistent.
It’s Jack Dee. Yep, again, Jack Dee. Dream Taskmaster contestant is definitely Jack Dee. He really couldn’t make it any clearer: he wants Jack Dee on the show.
Even as recently as this March, when The Express asked him, he said:
“Jack Dee, and I say this anytime anyone asks me this question. I think it’s the only way to persuade him to do it. So, Jack Dee, if you’re listening, please do the show.”
And then, yesterday, Taskmaster released a video Q&a with Alex Horne on YouTube:

You may not know who Warwick Davis is, but there’s a strong chance you’ve seen at least one of his movies. He’s starred in some of the biggest movie franchises of all time. And he’s been in some B-movie dreck. And he’s been the star of a recent streaming reboot. In each case, his career mirrors the various tiers of content, and the inherent problems for each of them in the streaming landscape.
Tier 1: 4-Star IP on One Platform
Davis’ breakout role was as the lovable Ewok Wicket in 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.” As part of the Star Wars franchise, the movie remains safely locked within the gates of Disney+. Although the film does air on broadcast TV from time to time, we expect it will never appear on another streaming platform.
Most streaming platforms have at least a handful of standout titles they will likely never share.

In terms of their narrative structure, superhero stories and soap operas are nearly identical. In both formats, writers strain for literally decades to keep the same characters active and interesting. Characters die and return. Rivalries last for years, are settled, and then rekindled anew. Evil twins appear and disappear with regularity. They marry, divorce, marry, divorce, and marry again. In both soaps and superhero comics, it's vitally important to keep the story going indefinitely. The same approach has been taken with superhero movies, as characters enter a universe where they are expected to be crimefighters in perpetuity. "Batman would never retire" is such a sad phrase, indicating that Batman will be eternally trapped in an endless cycle of violence. No one is allowed to have a third act.

"The Office" is one of the most beloved TV comedies in recent memory. An adaptation of the British comedy series of the same name created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, after some early struggles, the US version of "The Office" on NBC carved its own path and became a massive hit, thanks to the mockumentary hilarity following the employees of a Pennsylvania paper company. In fact, even after the show came to an end back in 2013, it dominated streaming charts on Netflix, finding a whole new audience, which inspired stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey to launch a hit podcast looking back at each and every episode of the series. With that level of success, it should come as no surprise that NBC may have a reboot of "The Office" in the works.

Big Talk boss Kenton Allen described Vulture as a cross between Below Deck and Narcos.
Penned by BAFTA-nominated Cyberbully writer David Lobatto, the series, which is being developed in association with ITV Studios, follows the crew on-board a ‘narco-sub’ on its way to deliver a $200 million payload of base cocaine to the Albanian mob. After a perilous journey across the Atlantic, the sub is ambushed by a rival cartel. It’s hard to believe it took network TV audiences more than a full season to pick up on the burning brilliance of Greg Daniels’ “The Office.”
On March 25, 2005, the pilot episode of a mockumentary series about a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania debuted to just over 11 million viewers in the United States. The show wasn’t immediately acclaimed, with numerous TV critics arguing the so-called remake failed to adequately justify itself in Season 1.
Yes, the history-making NBC sitcom seemed at first like little more than a bastardization of the popular U.K. series, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant in 2003. But for audiences lucky enough to binge the show in the streaming age, already knowing what it and its myriad talents (Mindy Kaling! B.J. Novak! Rainn Wilson! John Krasinski!) would become, the lovable goofs of Dunder Mifflin had us at jello.

Getting caught up in a deadly kidnapping, being torn away from your loved ones and forced into witness protection, tracking down a serial killer of vulnerable young girls… none of the above exactly scream ‘Lol’, and yet they’ve all become the subject of British crime comedy-dramas in recent years. The “you’ve got to laugh” mentality is clearly in our national DNA, no matter how bleak the circumstances.
Attracting huge names in comedy, from Matt Berry, Stephen Merchant, James Corden and Joanna Scanlan, to the brilliant Gbemisola Ikumelo, Emer Kenny, Kerry Howard, and created by the writers behind People Just Do Nothing, Peep Show, Succession and more, here are some of the best darkly funny crime comedy series of recent years.

Stephen Merchant could be set for an Emmys return after amassing a whopping 19 Emmy nominations across an illustrious career as a writer, director, producer, and actor. This year, he’ll be in the mix for further nominations for his work on his hit Amazon Prime Video series “The Outlaws,” which he co-created with Elgin James.
The crime-comedy, which some over here in the UK have described as Britain’s answer to “Ozark,” follows the misadventures of several strangers who are thrown together to undertake a community payback sentence. Led by Merchant’s hapless, hopeless divorcee lawyer, Gregory Dillard, the group stumbles across a huge sum of money that belongs to someone very dangerous (Claes Bang‘s gangster).
The cast is full of stand-out performances, including from the legendary Christopher Walken, but Merchant leads the pack with his expert comedic skills. Merchant is a master of the awkward, self-deprecating humor he...

Christopher Walken could be walkin’ his way toward a third Emmy nomination with his sparkling role in Stephen Merchant‘s hit Amazon Prime Video series “The Outlaws.”
The show, which aired on the BBC over here in the UK, follows the misadventures of seven strangers who are thrown together when each has to complete a community payback sentence in Bristol, Britain. There, they find a huge amount of money that belongs to Claes Bang‘s dangerous gangster. Walken is one of the many shining lights in the series and plays American Frank Sheldon — a former conman who now lives in the West Country with his estranged daughter and grandchildren.
It’s no understatement to say that Walken is one of the most watchable actors ever. Whether it’s delivering a monologue about a watch in “Pulp Fiction” or regaling a proverb about two mice and a bucket of cream in “Catch Me if You Can,...
