Up for watching a royally awkward interview? Let's go back to a notorious day in 1977, when Prince Charles endured the strangest encounter with an Australian TV presenter named Molly Meldrum. Charles, then in his late 20s, was appearing on the popular show Countdown. But Meldrum, the host, couldn't seem to get his act together - flubbing his introduction of Charles over and over, and getting increasingly agitated. To help celebrate Countdown's 40th anniversary, Charles, 65, recorded the new video below, in which he comically roasts Meldrum, now 71, for his breakdown - though the new interview with Charles, displaying his sense of humor,...

While the British teen market singlehandedly keeps Neighbours on the map long after many of its homegrown viewers abandoned the Aussie soap, it seems that this trade in entertainment culture is not all one-way.
The Independent reports that British music – by which, inevitably, I mean pop and sort-of rock – is doing so well Down Under that the British Phonographic Industry is organising a trade mission to those shores, banking on the fact that the 22% of the Australian music currently belonging to UK artists can be exploited and increased. There’s only one diva big enough to publicly take on Madonna, and Elton John really went for the protruding jugular while discussing the Mdma singer during an interview with Australia’s Sunday Night host Molly Meldrum yesterday. “If Madonna had had any common sense, she would have made a record like Ray Of Light, stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly,” he rants. The fact that is by far the nicest thing he has to say about Madge during the entire segment is pretty telling. Touching on everything from Madonna’s on-going tour problems to her beef with Lady Gaga, the “Yellow Brick Road” singer had a number of choice things to say about Madge, comments that the rest of us wouldn’t even mumble under our breath lest we want a stiletto heel slashing our faces.
