‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’ Is One Long Tom Cruise Victory Lap
Image
Eight movies. Five directors. Three dozen character actors. Two dozen exotic locales, each one of them the perfect background for globetrotting espionage. A dozen action set pieces. A half dozen peeled-off masks. One best-of-show brawl set in a public bathroom. Numerous car chases, motorcycle chases, helicopter chases, explosions, collateral-damage relationships, and falls and near-falls from both modest and great heights. Too many running scenes to count. So, so many running scenes.

For nearly 30 years, the Mission: Impossible franchise has managed to take the bare-bone elements of spy thrillers, summer blockbusters...

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Rotten Tomatoes Score Revealed As First Reviews Race Online
Image
The reviews are in for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (via ActioNewz.com), but is this a worthy conclusion to Tom Cruise's nearly three-decade run as Imf agent Ethan Hunt?

It seems the answer to that question is yes and no. The action sounds phenomenal, but the story appears to be a little too jam-packed—you might want to rewatch the previous instalments before heading to theaters for this one—with a villain who fails to reach the high bar set by his predecessors.

Cruise, however, is receiving plenty of praise, and for longtime Mission fans, it seems The Final Reckoning is a win.

The Hollywood Reporter calls the movie "dull" and adds, "If it’s going to be the last we see of one of the most consistently entertaining franchises to come out of Hollywood in the past few decades...it’s a disappointing farewell with a...

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Review — Tom Cruise Is the Greatest Movie Star in History
Image
iEnthralling and packed with nail-biting, armrest-grabbing tension, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning cements Tom Cruise as the greatest movie star in motion picture history! Perhaps no other actor puts more on the line—or exposes himself to more real danger—for the sake of his fans than Tom Terrific, Maverick, or, as Nick Offerman affectionately calls him, “Tom Cat.”

There’s nothing “Tc” won’t do to entertain the masses. The jaw-dropping action stunts in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning are spectacular—and that intensifier is no overstatement. The sheer audacity, bravado, and maybe even outright arrogance of watching the world’s biggest star hang at 8,000 feet in 140 mph winds, without CGI, is so nerve-wracking that you can hardly stand it or sit still.

We know Cruise survives the real-life stunt, but people respond to guts, and this guy has them. He elevates the action-adventure genre to new,...

Image
Three years after screening “Top Gun: Maverick” at the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise has returned to the French Riviera to showcase his latest blockbuster stunt extravaganza, “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.”

Directed and co-written by frequent Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, the eighth and latest installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is a direct sequel to 2023’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning.” That film introduced viewers to new characters like Hayley Atwell’s Grace, Esai Morales’ villainous Gabriel, Greg Tarzan Davis’ Degas, Pom Klementieff’s skilled assassin Paris and Shea Whigham’s Jasper Briggs. Those characters and actors are all set to return, once again, in “The Final Reckoning.”

They are accompanied in it by “Mission: Impossible” newcomers Holt McCallany (“Mindhunter”), Janet McTeer (“Ozark”), Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Katy O’Brian (“Twisters”) and Tramell Tillman (“Severance”), as well as returning franchise veterans like Simon Pegg,...

Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025) Movie Review: A Bloated, yet Heartfelt Closure to an Iconic Action Saga
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
It’s safe to say that the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is the most consistent recurring saga in Hollywood’s recent history, as nearly every installment in the series contains the type of creative storytelling, stylistic flourishes, and inventive spectacle that most blockbusters are devoid of. While John Woo’s “Mission: Impossible II” stood as the only real failure in the series, the franchise took on a more serialized format with the fifth entry, “Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation,” the first of which to be directed by Christopher McQuarrie. By deepening the character arcs and adding more insight into the psychology of Ethan Hunt, McQuarrie was able to heighten the stakes with each subsequent entry, with the final two installments serving as a grandiose sendoff to the series that began in 1996.

“Mission: Impossible- The Final Reckoning” may have originally been intended to be “Part Two” of 2023’s “Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning,” as...

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning – Tom Cruise Delivers The Reckoning of All Reckonings!
Image
Wamg’s St. Louis and Los Angeles teams attended the screening of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on Monday evening. Starring Tom Cruise and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the last film ended on a literal cliffhanger, having just survived a vast locomotive plunging off a bridge, Ethan Hunt and his fellow Imf team members – Ving Rhames’ Luther, Simon Pegg’s Benji, and converts to the cause, Grace, played by Hayley Atwell – face an uncertain future.

St. Louis writer Jim Batts first reaction out of the early preview was “Tom Cruise and his cast, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, along with a talented behind-the-camera crew, once again take movie audiences on a spectacular around-the-globe “thrill-ride”, combining a “ripped-from-the-headlines” plot with some of the most amazing action stunt sequences ever committed to film. From a sunken submarine search to a breathtaking bi-plane battle, this fantastic film is a superior entry in the nearly thirty-year-old franchise.

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Social Reactions Reveal What To Expect From Ethan Hunt's Send-Off
Image
Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is expected to be the end of the line for Tom Cruise's iconic Imf agent, Ethan Hunt, and the first critic reactions have been shared on X following screenings across the globe last night.

The response is largely very positive, though it does sound like you'll need to do your homework and rewatch each of the previous instalments to get the most out of this conclusion. Some seem to feel it's a little self-indulgent, comparing Hunt to the Fast & Furious franchise's Dominic Toretto.

Overall, though, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning sounds like a fun time at the movies, with plenty of edge-of-your-seat action and a story that does right by Cruise's most iconic silver screen role.

Of course, we know better by now than to put too much stock into social media reactions like these. Ultimately, it will be the...

In this behind-the-scenes photo from the Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning set, Tom Cruise went shirtless while filming one of the movie’s memorable underwater scenes. The film is the eighth installment of the American spy franchise and is a direct sequel to the seventh film, Mission: Impossible—The Dead Reckoning.

The film’s runtime is an impressive 2 hours and 49 minutes, packed with intense action sequences, emotional high stakes, and Cruise’s epic repertoire of stunts.

No stunt could prepare Mission: Impossible star Hayley Atwell for an encounter with a polar bear
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
The Mission: Impossible films are known for their death-defying stunts, but for The Final Reckoning star Hayley Atwell, the most hair-raising moment didn’t come from a high-octane action scene — it came from an unexpected encounter with a polar bear.

“The hairiest thing was coming into close proximity with a polar bear who visited the boat we were staying on,” Atwell told Entertainment Weekly. “He was very curious, but thankfully for us, looked well fed. He looked majestic.” If you’ve watched any nature documentaries (or encountered any in the wild), you’ll know that a hungry polar bear can be downright ferocious.

Despite the close encounter with the polar bear, Atwell said he “absolutely adored” working in the Arctic, adding “It’s not lost on me that where we were able to go and how I was able to work there was a lifetime opportunity and only one that...

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Featurette & Photos Preview Dangerous Underwater Sequence
Image
With just weeks to go, the marketing campaign for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is starting to ramp up and Paramount has just shared an insane new featurette, spotlighting the film's high stakes underwater sequence that will be unlike anything you've ever seen on screen.

Teasing the sequence, star/producer Tom Cruise said, "From Legend in 1985 to Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, I have been studying and filming underwater sequences for over 40 years. We have always tried to push our filmmaking to the next level… In this movie McQ and I saw an opportunity to create an underwater sequence unlike any other. We are excited to share it with you."

While the context of the scene remains mostly under wraps, it seems probable that this unprecedented moment will have something to do with the missing Sevastopol, which Ethan Hunt and his Imf team will be racing to locate...

Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning Tracking For Franchise-Best Opening; Plus Popcorn Bucket & New Photos
Image
With a few weeks to go, the first tracking data for Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is out and it seems as though his ace Imf agent Ethan Hunt is gearing up to go out with a bang.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, The Final Reckoning is currently looking at an opening in the $72 million to $88 million range, with box office pundits targeting a $80 million domestic launch over the course of the four-day Memorial Day holiday weekend, which would be a franchise-best, topping the $61.2 million three-day launch for Mission: Impossible - Fallout in 2018.

Meanwhile, Disney's Lilo & Stitch is expected to open around $120 million over the four-day holiday, with projections expecting something in the $110 million to $130 million range, so based on these early estimates, it seems like we're in for one of the biggest movie weekends since 2023's Barbenheimer.

If the tracking holds, and if buzz continues...

How many eggs does Tom Cruise eat before hanging off the side of a plane?
Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Tom Cruise is a machine—and machines need fuel, especially when you’re clinging to the side of a biplane for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. So, what keeps Hollywood’s most relentless action star running? Eggs. Lots and lots of eggs.

“I actually eat a massive breakfast,” Cruise told People about preparing for the high-flying stunt. “The amount of energy it takes — I train so hard for that wing-walking. I’ll eat, like, sausage and almost a dozen eggs and bacon and toast and coffee and fluids. Oh, I’m eating! Picture: It’s cold up there. We’re at high altitude. My body is burning a lot.“

I can’t imagine wanting to do anything after eating a dozen eggs, let alone dangling hundreds of feet in the air, but I’m certainly no Tom Cruise.

The sequence features Cruise hanging from and crawling along the wings...

Image
Cancelling Mindhunter is still one of Netflix’s biggest unforgivable mistakes, but that’s a conversation for another day. We tuned into the show because not only was it chilling and intriguing, but also because the chemistry between Jonathan Groff’s Holden and Holt McCallany’s Bill was electric.

Their wide-eyed intensity and stoic pragmatism were the show’s greatest strengths. But you’d be happy to know that even behind the scenes, McCallany had the same respect and admiration for Groff. So let’s deep dive into his character and the surprising self-doubt about the off-screen relationship with his co-star.

‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Will Be Longest in the Franchise
Image
The final “Mission: Impossible” will be the longest film in the whole franchise.

TheWrap confirmed with a source close to production that “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” will have the longest runtime in the entire action franchise. The Tom Cruise-starring film is being touted as the final entry in the series that began back in 1996.

“Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” will reportedly clock in at 2 hours and 49 minutes. That beats out the last film – “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning” – which ran for 2 hours and 42 minutes. If the movie is indeed the finale to the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, it seems they are leaving as much in the last cut as possible.

Christopher McQuarrie returns to direct after steering “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.” The eighth film in the franchise was initially titled “Dead Reckoning Part Two...

Mission: Impossible 8 Sets Record-Breaking Runtime for the Franchise (& Almost Tom Cruise's Filmography)
Image
Mission: Impossible fans will want to use the bathroom before sitting down for The Final Reckoning. The runtime for the eighth Mission: Impossible movie has reportedly been revealed, and it's a record-breaker.

After trusted runtime scooper Cryptic HD Quality reported on X that Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning would clock in at a whopping 2 hours and 51 minutes (171 min), Paramount revealed to ComicBook.com that the official runtime would actually be two minutes less. Even so, The Final Reckoning's 169-minute runtime is still a massive leap from the first Mission: Impossible film, which came in at 110 minutes. The runtimes for the other six entries in the long-running action spy franchise are 124 min (M:I:2), 126 min (M:I:iii), 133 min (Ghost Protocol), 131 min (Rogue Nation), 147 min (Fallout), and 163 min (Dead Reckoning). With the exception of 2015's Rogue Nation, the Mission: Impossible movies have progressively gotten longer with each new installment.

Surprisingly, Mission: Impossible –...

The epic runtime for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has been revealed
Image
The latest trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning gives the impression that this is likely Tom Cruise’s last go around as Ethan Hunt with the whole “everything you’ve done has led you to this” talk. The title was even changed from Dead Reckoning Part 2 to The Final Reckoning, which gives the movie the vibe of a conclusion. While one may think that Tom Cruise may not be able to do these movies forever, he’s still been effectively fighting off father time and finding ways to keep the franchise exciting.

However, if this does happen to be the curtain call for Cruise’s Imf agent, it does stand to reason that he will go out with a bang. World of Reel recently revealed the runtime for The Final Reckoning, which will be nearly three hours at two hours and forty-nine minutes (with credits).

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Stars Tom Cruise & Hayley Atwell Tease Brutal -40° Shoot In Svalbard
Image
Paramount Pictures has released another amazing new behind-the-scenes featurette from Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, this time shifting the spotlight away from the stunts and onto one of the franchise's most breathtaking shooting locations: Svalbard, Norway!

If you're wondering what brings our heroes to the Arctic, well, it's probably safe to say it'll have something to do with the missing Sevastopol, which sank at the beginning of the previous film.

Dead Reckoning spoilers ahead, but, as we all know now, the completed key that Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) managed to swipe at the end of that film opens a chamber in the Sevastopol that contains the Entity's source code, allowing it to be destroyed or controlled.

The sub's location has remained a mystery until now, but, it looks like, in the two months between adventures, Hunt and company will have cracked its hidding spot in the Arctic Ocean.

Lacey Von Erich Criticizes A24’s ‘The Iron Claw’ for Misrepresentation
Lacey Von Erich
Lacey Von Erich, daughter of late professional wrestler Kerry Von Erich, has criticized The Iron Claw for its portrayal of her father in the A24 biographical film. Speaking in a preview for an upcoming episode of Hollywood Demons on Investigation Discovery, she said the film left out significant aspects of his personal life.

“My sister and I were not in the movie as my dad’s children and he didn’t have a wife or anything,” she said. “And that was a really big part of my dad. So how he was portrayed in the movie is so inaccurate that it was heart-wrenching.”

Kerry Von Erich, played by Jeremy Allen White, is depicted in the film during a period that includes his motorcycle crash, the resulting foot amputation, his use of painkillers, and his death by suicide in 1993. The film does not mention his wife, Catherine Murray, or their daughters,...

The Von Erich family is speaking up to say A24 got it wrong.

In a forthcoming episode of Investigation Discovery’s docuseries “Hollywood Demons,” which airs Monday, Lacey Von Erich, the daughter of Kerry Von Erich (played by Jeremy Allen White), said A24 left out some crucial details with its portrayal of her professional wrestler father.

“My sister and I were not in the movie as my dad’s children and he didn’t have a wife or anything,” Lacy Von Erich said in a preview for “Hollywood Demons” (via The Independent). “And that was a really big part of my dad. Tom Cruise Hangs At 8000 Feet With 140 Mph Winds In New Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Sneak Peek
Image
Paramount Pictures has shared a jaw-dropping new look at Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, offering a quick sneak peek at Tom Cruise's most dangerous stunt yet, as he hangs off the wing of a biplane at 8,000 feet, with winds of over 140 mph blasting!

This stunt, which will undoubtedly be this final installment's signature sequence. has been in the works for several years now, with Cruise ("Ethan Hunt") and director Christopher McQuarrie having meticulously shot it over the last two years. The duo actually first teased the plane sequence at CinemaCon 2023 ahead of the launch of that summer's Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning.

The previous installment received widespread critical acclaim and the follow-up is shaping up to bigger and better in every way, as Ethan Hunt and his elite team of Imf operatives race against the clock to stop The Entity once and for all.
