Curtis got her on-screen debut in John Carpenter's Halloween. Her role as Laurie Strode immediately marked her out as a young actor worth watching, and she has returned to the franchise periodically throughout her career. She soon gained a reputation as an iconic scream queen of her generation.
Following her success in the horror franchise, Jamie Lee Curtis starred in comedy movies to diversify her repertoire. Starting with Trading Places, Curtis showed that she was also one of the best comedic actors in Hollywood. Curtis became much less prolific in the 2000s and early 2010s as she took a step back from Hollywood to focus on her family. Since returning, she has enjoyed a career renaissance, including some of her most famous roles.

Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be a streaming event for the first time on the Netflix YouTube channel. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute.
Among that group will certainly be Oscar winners Louise Fletcher, William Hurt and Irene Cara, plus nominees Angela Lansbury (a SAG life achievement recipient) and Melinda Dillon. Emmy champs Mary Alice, Kirstie Alley, Leslie Jordan, Ray Liotta, Stuart Margolin, Robert Morse and Barbara Walters.

Watching Bound you can’t help but be impressed with its style and understand why people cite its importance to the Matrix movies which were the Wachowski next movies to work on. Then you realise that this was their first movie and see just why it is so impressive and brave. Bound is a modern noir that takes two female leads and puts them in the place of power and most importantly a realistic love affair. This may sound nothing surprising now, but at the time it had never been done in this style, especially by two writer/directors who wanted to make an impact in Hollywood. Now that it’s getting the Arrow Video treatment, it’s time for Bound to get the attention it definitely deserves.
