10 Game of Thrones Characters Who Make Daemon Targaryen Look Like a Hero
Image
Daemon Targaryen is one of the most polarizing characters in House of the Dragon. In Fire & Blood, he is described as "made of light and darkness in equal parts," but the showrunner has chosen to highlight his darker traits. Despite this, Daemon remains an enigmatic and somewhat unpredictable character. Some fans admire him, while others despise him. However, he is certainly not the worst character in George R. R. Martin's universe.

Many characters in Game of Thrones have committed far worse acts than the Rogue Prince. Although Daemon can be ruthless and selfish, he also loves his family and is loyal to his soldiers. This list will highlight the worst individuals in Westeros based on the TV show adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire.

7 Best Movies Like ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ To Watch If You Love The Film
Image
The prequel film we have all been waiting for is finally here and I am really happy to say that it is as brilliant and bombastic as the original film. Obviously, we are talking about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to George Miller‘s 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road. Directed by Miller from a screenplay by Nico Lathouris and Miller, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga follows the story of a young Furiosa as she is taken from Green Place of Many Mothers and tries to survive in the wasteland while trying to get back home but the war between great biker horde’s warlord Dementus and Immortan Joe makes it harder. Replacing Charlize Theron from Fury Road, Anya Taylor-Joy takes over the role of Furiosa in the prequel film and it also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Lachy Hulme, John Howard, Angus Sampson, and Nathan Jones. House Of The Dragon Season 2 Has A Major Difference To Game Of Thrones Season 2 That I'm Very Excited About
Image
House of the Dragon season 2 won't just be following Game of Thrones season 2's formula. Game of Thrones season 2 was more like another season 1, with a huge amount of major new characters and locations introduced. House of the Dragon's story will be faster-paced, and remain focused on the characters from season 1.

House of the Dragon season 2 wont be following the same formula as Game of Thrones season 2, and it makes me more excited about the prequels sophomore outing. The spinoff had some broad similarities in season 1, with a lot of table dressing in service of the wars to come, and a major twist towards the end of the season. House of the Dragon season 1s ending wasnt quite Ned Stark gets beheaded levels of shocking, but Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar killing Lucerys Velaryon was brutal nonetheless.

House of the Dragon season 2 will be building on from that moment -...

10 Best Movies Like Mortal Engines
Image
The post-apocalyptic steampunk film "Mortal Engines" bombed at the box office but had a praised cast and intriguing story. Similar films like "Valerian," "City of Ember," and "Blade Runner 2049" also faced box-office challenges. "Oblivion," "The Chronicles Of Riddick," "Mad Max: Fury Road," and others contain similar themes to "Mortal Engines."

Mortal Engines chronicles a very unique tale, making it difficult to find films, but, thankfully, numerous post-apocalyptic, steampunk, and fantasy movies have been made over the years. The 2018 post-apocalyptic steampunk film, directed by Christian Rivers and written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and Peter Jackson, depicts a world set more than a thousand years in the future where cities have become motorized on wheels and try to destroy one another following the Sixty Minute War. Although it is based on Philip Reeve's 2001 novel of the same name, Mortal Engines contains several changes from the book.

Mortal Engines Cast & Character Guide
Image
Mortal Engines is a fun action-packed sci-fi flick with a cool steampunk world and intriguing characters. Despite box office flop, the film offers an entertaining post-apocalyptic adventure with unique cities on wheels. The cast of international veterans and Hollywood newcomers deliver standout performances in this visually stunning movie.

Mortal Engines, while flopping in theaters when it was released in 2018, is nonetheless an enjoyable action sci-fi-fantasy romp thanks to its great cast of characters. Based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Philip Reeve, the 2018 movie adaptation of Mortal Engines was directed by Christian Rivers after Peter Jackson purchased the rights to the book. Unfortunately, Mortal Engines bombed at the box office, which is a shame as the interesting story and world had promise.

Mortal Engines takes place in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world where giant, moving cities known as "Traction Cities" roam the land and consume smaller traction cities and settlements as predators.

How 'Game of Thrones' Kicked Off the War of the Five Kings
Image
While the whole of Game of Thrones may be considered a landmark in modern television, it's almost a consensus that its first half was better than the second. The battles, the political intrigue, the family drama... All that was more intense, and not for nothing. During the series' first four seasons, Westeros was engulfed in a civil war called the War of the Five Kings, which saw its major houses clash with each other. Some players were vying for the Iron Throne — like Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) and his two uncles, Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony). While others were seeking independence for their own territories — like Robb Stark (Richard Madden) and Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide). The complex politics behind the different claims of legitimacy and independence can get complicated, let's take a look back at this violent time in Westeros history.

Luther: The Fallen Sun Trailer - Idris Elba Hunts Andy Serkis On Netflix
Image
The Luther: The Fallen Sun trailer has been unleashed upon the world, revealing the return of Idris Elba's iconic detective John Luther. He originated the role on the BBC series Luther, which ran for five seasons from 2010 through 2019. The series followed Luther, the Detective Chief Inspector for the Serious and Serial Unit, as the crimes he is so skilled at stopping begin to eat away at his soul and fill him with a raging darkness.

Today, Netflix dropped the trailer for their Luther follow-up movie Luther: The Fallen Sun.

The trailer opens on returning character Dsu Martin Schenk (Dermot Crowley) being informed that Luther has escaped prison. However, the troubled detective has a very good reason for doing so in Luther: The Fallen Sun's story: Andy Serkis’ tech mogul serial killer David Robey is on the loose, wreaking havoc with his control over surveillance technology, and must be stopped.

Every Season Of Luther Ranked Worst To Best
Image
"Luther" is a TV rarity. A show beloved by fans the world over, it never overstays its welcome, and shows up just when you need it. Created and written by Neil Cross, "Luther" follows Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, an officer consumed with the weight of the crimes he investigates. Across the series, Luther and the other members of his unit, including Detective Sergeant Justin Ripley (Warren Brown), Detective Superintendent Martin Schenk (Dermot Crowley), and DS Benny Silver (Michael Smiley), take to the gritty streets of London and go up against the worst the city has to offer.

When "Luther" first aired in 2010, Idris Elba's star was on the rise. He had supporting roles in films like "28 Weeks Later," "Rocknrolla," and "American Gangster," and had received critical acclaim for his turn as Stringer Bell on "The Wire." Since then, Elba has become a bonafide international star, and Dci...

Luther’s Scariest Scene: the London Bus Moment Fans Will Never Forget
Patrick Malahide
Warning: contains spoilers for Luther Series 5.

There are many things that set Luther apart from the plethora of UK prime-time detective shows, but two things, in particular, stand out: shock value, and its willingness to embrace proper horror.

While Luther’s series arcs—his run-ins with other police departments, his bitter feud with gangster George Cornelius (Patrick Malahide), and his twisted relationship with nemesis Alice (Ruth Wilson), to name a few—offer a deep dive into the character and psyche of Idris Elba’s antiheroic cop, it’s the killer-of-the-week plots that really up the fear factor.

Take series two’s Cameron Pell (Lee Ingleby), for example: a sadistic art student turned serial killer who wears a Mr Punch puppet mask and terrorises the streets of London with his trusty machete in the vein of notorious Victorian bogeyman, Spring-Heeled Jack. Or series three baddie Paul Ellis (Kevin Fuller), a fetishistic...

Luther: What’s Happening With the Idris Elba Netflix Movie?
Idris Elba at an event for Les Misérables (2012)
Warning: contains spoilers for Luther series 1-5

It’s been nearly four years since London’s most morally dubious detective, Dci John Luther, last graced our screens. In January 2019, the fifth series of the BBC’s gritty crime drama premiered to much fanfare, with decent reviews and ratings success paving the way for a long-awaited, feature-length mystery for Idris Elba’s grizzled antihero.

Since then, details of the Luther movie have been mainly classified, with only a few tidbits escaping. There’s not even a concrete release date yet.

What we do know is that the film is a co-production between BBC Films and Netflix—the two are reportedly splitting distribution between the UK (BBC) and the rest of the world (Netflix)—which means one thing: a bigger budget. That gives series creator and screenwriter Neil Cross and returning series five director Jamie Payne a much bigger canvas to work on.

Film Review: ‘The Protege’ Understood the Assignment and Studied Up On Action Films Past
Chicago – I’ve always felt that the line between being a spy or an assassin has always been blade-thin. Both kill people based on the orders of someone else.

They are always highly trained in fighting and gun-fu. There is a great chance that they will be absolutely charming and unusually attractive because the job demands it.

Rating: 4.0/5.0

Hell, they might even be prone to age-inappropriate relationships that stem from mommy or daddy issues. The true deciding factor on your future path will depend on who picks you to be your mentor, and here is where we find the origin of The Protégé.

There are few genres as forgiving as the action genre. Here you’ll find that the plot is the least important element as long as the leads are charismatic enough, and the fight choreography is on point. There is so much more than that to love in...

‘Luther’ Season 5 Review: Idris Elba’s Detective Series Returns With Feature Film Ambitions
[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for all five seasons of “Luther.“]

For fans of BBC America’s “Luther,” after waiting five long years for the fifth (and likely final) season, it might be somewhat anticlimactic that the entire experience ends in just four roughly hour-long episodes, although it’s a season that comes packed with a wallop. Star Idris Elba has called this season “‘classic’ Luther,” and it very much is. It’s a celebration of what’s come before with deliberate connections to the very first season – although each is more of an emotional one than directly narrative – as the title character is forced to reconcile with the psychology and relationships that defined the series’ inaugural, definitive season.

Season 5 picks up where the last episode of season 4 left off, with the aftermath of Benny Silver’s (Michael Smiley) devastating death. Serial killer Jeremy Lake (Enzo Cilenti) is on the loose, on a murderous spree after his and Dr. Vivien Lake...

‘Mortal Engines’ Blu-ray Review
Stars: Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheenan, Hugo Weaving, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide, Stephen Lang, Colin Salmon, Mark Mitchinson, Regé-Jean Page, Menik Gooneratne, Frankie Adams, Leifur Sigurdarson | Written by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens | Directed by Christian Rivers

If Mortal Engines succeeds at anything it’s officially ending any chance of the original blockbuster existing in cinema from this point forward. Although the writing has been on the wall for a significant amount of time now, the Peter Jackson produced vehicle ultimately cements the death of a much-needed ideal in cinema.

Mortal Engines isn’t horrendous, nor is it quote-unquote “bad”, it’s just a calamitous bore from start to finish. Mortal Engines Review
With a book series already published and Peter Jackson’s writing team on board to convert, Mortal Engines ticks the boxes for any film studio looking for a money-making franchise with a pre-existing fanbase.

Still, even with Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens converting, and Jackson protege Christian Rivers directing (he worked on storyboards across all of Jackson’s movies), Mortal Engines is a movie with a great deal of promise, but finds itself running out of gas before the credits roll.

Society as we know it has long collapsed and transformed into what is described as ‘Municipal Darwinism’. The ’60 Minute War’ destroyed much of the world, and the survivors grouped together to form ‘predator cities’, cities that no longer sit-in one place, rather, they have been converted into giant, roaming fortresses that rumble around the country looking for smaller societies to claim as their own.

Led by the Lord Mayor...

‘Mortal Engines’ Review

Opening in such an effulgent and prolific manner undoubtedly engaging the full concentration of its audience with a tremendous scale and scope of outstanding visuals, but never from that moment forward can it successfully surpass such a...

Review: Mortal Engines Is an Epic and Adventurous Thrill Ride
I’ve been pretty excited about seeing producer Peter Jackson’s epic new film project Mortal Engines. I’ve really enjoyed everything that I’ve seen in the trailers for the film and what we see in those trailers is exactly what this movie delivers.

If you like what you’ve seen from the footage that has been shared, chances are you’re going to enjoy the movie. If you’ve scoffed at the trailers, and you think the movie looks like it’s going to be a silly and/or piece of crap movie, then that’s what you’re going to get.

With a movie like Mortal Engines, you just can take it too seriously. You’ve kinda got check your brain out at the door. This is an epic and adventurous popcorn flick, and I personally enjoyed the hell out of it! I loved the massive scale...

Peter Jackson Considers Returning to Horror, Promises a New Level of Disgusting
Earlier today we passed along the awesome news that Lord of the Rings and King Kong director Peter Jackson plans to restore his early splatter films onto 4K for an all-new box-set. That news had a horror fan like me over the moon excited. But hidden in the article over on THR, there was another super interesting bit where Jackson was asked if he'd ever be interested in returning to the world of gore films, to which he responded:

"Oh, I'm very happy to be disgusting again if the right project comes along. It would be interesting to see how disgusting Fran [Walsh] and I could be in our older age compared to our younger years because we've learned a few things since then. We know a little bit more about the world than we did then, so maybe our levels of disgusting could go into whole new places!"

To reiterate...

New TV Trailer for Sci-Fi Movie 'Mortal Engines' Starring Hera Hilmar
"We have to stop London before it destroys us...!" Universal has debuted a new 90-second, "extended" TV trailer for sci-fi adaptation Mortal Engines, based on a popular book series. We've already featured three trailers for this so far, and each one has looked better and better as the intensive VFX by Weta are closer to being finished. I honestly still think this looks massively epic and seriously entertaining. The fantastically eccentric cast includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide, and Stephen Lang. This sci-fi epic lands in theaters right in the middle of December, hoping to find an audience during the crowded holiday season. The final battle scenes near the end of this trailer look incredible, I'm actually kind of excited to see this. Maybe that's just me? Take a look. Here's the extended TV trailer (+ another poster) for Christian Rivers' Mortal Engines,...

Third Trailer for Colossal 'Mortal Engines' Movie Starring Hera Hilmar
"Nothing can stand in the face of this..." Universal has released a full-length third official trailer for sci-fi adaptation Mortal Engines, based on a popular book series. This movie has been in the works for years, in development by Peter Jackson and the Lotr/Hobbit team. We've already featured two good trailers for this so far, with this one being the pay off, big time, final push. And it looks seriously epic The fantastically eccentric cast includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robert Sheehan, Jihae, Ronan Raftery, Leila George, Patrick Malahide, and Stephen Lang. The detailed VFX shots from Weta are looking better and better. The plot in this, which still reminds me a bit of Dune, is about huge cities that move around and battle against each other and a woman who threatens everything. This looks, and sounds, like a mix between John Carter and Transformers or something like that.
