Imagine a music-filled kids’ cartoon about saving the ocean, with characters voiced and sung by Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, and Grammy winner Pharrell Williams. Nearly ten years ago, it almost happened.
Hoppus recently guested on Kroq’s “Kevin and Bean Show,” where he and “Kevin & Bean” co-host Jensen Karp revealed that together they once pitched an animated series, titled “Bronze Blue,” to networks like Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Much to their disappointment, the show never happened.
“Bronze Blue” would have starred Hoppus, Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, and others as various characters in an underwater punk/pop band singing catchy, eco-friendly tunes. The band toured the beaches of the world to share their message; however, they would have to stay one step ahead of their ultimate villain: The Sushi Chef.

The best soundtracks of 2010 are somewhat varied and random. Not always does a great film produce great music and sometimes a horrible film can have decent music, there is no pattern. Thus, I have made my own very subjective selective pattern. Using my main theory that a soundtrack is best when it reflects and capitalizes on the moments and story of the film and weaker when its motive is good music placed thoughtlessly in scenes, each inclusion still has its own exceptions. For instance, monotony is not a highly praised quality, but see how many Brian Eno and Broken Social Scene tracks are present on this list! So read, enjoy, agree or disagree because it is all in good fun.

Mel Torme aside, the soundtrack for "Jack Goes Boating" is heavy with highly revered indie rock acts like Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes and Cat Power. Some incredible 70's soul and 60's Reggae round out Philip Seymour Hoffman's directorial debut and it looks like this might be the soundtrack to beat this Fall. And who doesn't like a little Mel Torme anyway?
The film follows a limo driver named Jack, played by Hoffman, whose love for reggae inspired him to sort of grow dreadlocks. He dreams of working for the Mta while hanging out with fellow driver Clyde and his wife Lucy. When the couple set Jack up with Connie, Jack decides takes swimming lessons from Clyde so he can "give Connie the romantic boat ride she dreams of."
Character driven relationship dramady ensues. Listen to some of the tracks I found most compelling, including the strangely beautiful "Dearly...
