- Led American League in Hit Batsmen (12) in 1965.
- Acquired by the Mets along with outfielder Billy Baldwin on December 12, 1975 for outfielder Rusty Staub and minor league pitcher Bill Laxton. Retired after one season with the Mets, then returned to the major leagues in 1978.
- Is actually right handed. He learned to throw left handed after suffering a broken collarbone and damage to his right arm as a child.
