The film is based on Max Brooks' best-selling novel about a worldwide infestation of flesh-eating zombies. Brooks -- the son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft -- wrote a detailed tale in which a researcher for the U.N. Postwar Commission interviews survivors from countries all over the world, 10 years after the crisis, to gather a first-person post-mortem on a war that obliterated every country on the map. With productions ramping up to start or already in the midst of shooting, casting announcements are pouring in for several upcoming movies.
With Brad Pitt headlining Paramount's adaptation of World War Z as a U.N. researcher, the Marc Forster-directed production has been adding cast members at a slow trickle, with Mireille Enos (AMC's The Killing) cast in April as Pitt's wife and James Badge Dale (HBO's The Pacific) recently added as a soldier looking to warn humanity about the zombie uprising. Finally, they're getting some company.
Deadline reports that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris are in talks to join the cast in unspecified roles. According to Bloody-Disgusting, Fox will play a part called "Parajumper," which, considering his lack of an actual name, doesn't sound like he makes it for long, but we could be wrong. No details on Harris' role have been revealed yet.

Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby has a lot of big names so far. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jay Gatsby alongside Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, and Isla Fisher.
The role of Myrtle’s (Fisher) husband has now been filled by Jason Clarke (The Wettest County in the World). He looks like a perfect fit: character actor, blends into roles well, and looks like he could be a gas station attendant. I approve of this message. [THR]
The Marc Forster-directed adaptation of Max Brooks‘ novel World War Z has begun shooting (after much financial strife). Thank goodness. Now we’re hoping for news that they’ll consider an R rating. A girl can dream, okay?
Brad Pitt is still set to star as the Un researcher investigating the zombie encounters, alongside James Badge Gale as Captain Spake and Mirielle Enos as Pitt’s character’s wife. Some new faces...

World War Z is an upcoming Marc Forster’s adaptation of Max Brooks’ zombie novel of the same name, and a project that we already wrote about.
But, today, we’re here for a little casting update, because we’ve just learned that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris will join the whole thing!
The cast of this movie is definitely getting bigger and I’m sure you all remember that World War Z already stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Anthony Mackie, Julia Levy-Boeken and James Badge Dale.
The screenplay was originally written by J. Michael Straczynski, and will be re-written by Matthew Michael Carnahan and as we previously said, we’ll soon have a chance to watch a zombie apocalypse from the first-hand accounts of those who survived it, and the project that will tell us the story of a man researching a zombie pandemic that killed a large amount of world’s population.

With the cameras set to start cranking and the undead scoundrels ready to start stumbling and groaning for director Marc Foster this month, the cast for World War Z is beginning to swell. The latest names looking to sign on? Ed Harris, Matthew Fox and French actress Julia Levy-Boeken.Brad Pitt is at the head of the ensemble, playing a Un worker investigating the worldwide zombie crisis/conflict that happened ten years before the event of Max Brooks’ bestselling novel.Mirelle Enos and James Badge Dale are also already aboard for the film, which Paramount is hoping to have in cinemas next year, particularly if it turns out that the Star Trek sequel can’t be ready in time. There’s no word on what Fox and Harris might be playing, though there’s a meaty role for a military man in the book that we could see Harris taking on.

As the Marc Forster-directed adaptation of Max Brooks' novel World War Z gears up to shoot, one might marvel at the fact that the film will exist at all. It was on the brink of being scrapped for months, but then came back from the dead [1] with a new financing plan. And just in time for Paramount, since it is looking like there is no way that the Star Trek sequel will hit in time for summer 2012. Brad Pitt, against all odds, remains set to play the lead role of a Un researcher investigating a zombie outbreak. James Badge Dale was recently cast [2] as Captain Spake, and Mirielle Enos will play the wife of Brad Pitt's character. Now Matthew Fox and Ed Harris are on board, too. Deadline [3] reports that the two are in talks, but doesn't have any significant detail on their roles. Julia Levy-Boeken is cast as well,...
