The unique skill set that allows game show hosts to keep the action flowing as excited contestants vie for prizes is not something everyone has. It’s why certain hosts last for a long time and helm multiple games.
Today, some of that game show community saluted a true master of the art in Bob Barker, who passed away at his home after nearly a half-century of gamesmanship.
Some of the reactions:
Peter Marshall – Hollywood Squares:
“Long before I became an emcee, I admired Bob Barker very much. He was great at what he did, quite wonderful. I can’t claim to have been close to Bob, but when together at events we always talked about our shared love of animals. I hope everyone knows what he did for animal welfare.”
Wink Martindale – Tic Tac Dough:
“In the history of televised game shows, no one is more synonymous with host than Bob Barker.

I first met him when he was working in San Diego, then I met him again later on The Joey Bishop Show, I guested on that. And then of course, the really fun part was when I got to be his co-host on Khj for two and a half or three hours live every day for the interview and call-in show.
Regis always had a wonderful easy sense of humor, he never got pissed off about things; if he did, it was a very rare circumstance. He was able to smile and laugh his way through everything, and that taught me ...

Ruta Lee most definitely belongs to the group of actors and personalities that made it big before a lot of us were old enough to understand who she was and why she was so important. The fact that she has her own star on Hollywood Boulevard isn’t exactly a big deal to many people any longer since the boulevard has kind of been filled with many upon many personalities, but like so many others she’s still an important person to remember since she is another individual that helped to pave the way for future generations that would come after. The most-read book since Gone with the Wind looked at the coming of age struggle of an ambitious, upwardly mobile Jewish girl in the 1930s. This glossy film version gives Natalie Wood an ‘adult’ role and provides Gene Kelly with the seemingly optimal character of a troubled theatrical artiste. Good intentions aside, the show lacks guidance — and may have harmed Kelly’s acting career.

Friends, family and fans have gathered together to celebrate the beautiful lives and legacies of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher with a public memorial service at the Freedom Theater at Forest Lawn Cemetery Hollywood Hills on Saturday. The late mother-daughter duo died just one day apart from each other back in December.

The memorial, which was also live-streamed on DebbieReynolds.com, was organized by Debbie's son and Carrie's brother, Todd. While speaking with Et earlier this week, the producer anticipated that there wouldn't "be a dry eye in the house" -- and he wasn't wrong.
Once all guests were seated in the theater, Todd came out onstage to welcome local members of the Coast Guard in, who helped kick off the memorial. "My mother would have liked that," Todd revealed. "This entire thing I'm calling a show, not a memorial...
