She was awarded the C.M. (Member of the Order of Canada) on October 18,
2001 for her services to performing arts in Canada.
She still has the puppets at her home on Hornby Island, British Columbia. Her will bequeaths them to the CBC Museum, where other props from the show reside.
She purposely made Casey androgynous, picking a name which could be either a girl's or a boy's name.
She made Casey and Finnegan, the child and dog puppets on Mr. Dressup (1967), and provided their voices.
Upon her retirement Ernie Coombs had announced that Casey and Finnegan were on their way to kindergarten to explain the pair's absence from the show .
