She was the first American-born female pianist to become a renowned
international performing and recording artist. She helped bring the
piano compositions of Scriabin into the mainstream, recording all of
his sonatas. She made her orchestral debut at age 11, playing a
movement of a Beethoven concerto with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra at
the Michigan State Fairgrounds.
