"What we visualize, we can actualize!" An early promo trailer has been unveiled for an indie horror thriller titled The Activated Man, from filmmaker Nicholas Gyeney. The film is premiering at the Dances With Films NYC Festival in a few weeks, hence this trailer arriving now just before its big debut. After Ors Gabriel loses his beloved dog to cancer, the shock from the trauma produces strange vision projections that force Ors to wrestle with two possibilities: That his mind has fractured, or that it's actually real... Drawing on the universal theme of grief with a twist that Gyeney's work is noted for, The Activated Man stars Jamie Costa as an everyman who loses his beloved dog. His grief spurs disturbing visions that cause him to wonder if he's dealing with the usual highs and lows of a painful loss, or if darker forces are preying on his mind. The cast also includes Tony Todd,...

Growing up action movies were, for me, second only to horror flicks as my go to genre. I used to scour the pages of Impact for news on the latest films and then pre-order the VHS at my local video shop – because yes, back in the day you could actually pre-order a video rental and I Always had to be first to rent my most-anticipated flicks! I mention this only because it was back in that era that the action movie star was king. Starting out with the likes of Stallone and Schwarzenegger, the VHS era gave birth to a myriad of action movie superstars: guys like Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Jeff Speakman, Jeff Wincott and the queen of action films Cynthia Rothrock… all of whom carved out careers in what were – for the most part – direct to video films.

"She gave it up way too easy, French." Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted the first official trailer for Debt Collectors, also known as The Debt Collector 2, a sequel to the 2018 action crime thriller also titled The Debt Collector (also with Scott Adkins and also directed by former stuntman Jesse V. Johnson). As the title indicates, this time there are Two debt collectors who get into a whole load of trouble trying to collect from a dirty casino owner in Las Vegas. "Facing danger from all angles, the pair will have no other choice but to fight their way out of an explosively dangerous situation." Of course. Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor star as French and Sue, along with Vladimir Kulich, Mayling Ng, Louie Ski Carr, Charity Collins, and Marina Sirtis. This looks exactly like the extra dumb, packed with pointless action, barely bargain bin, pile of filmmaking junk you're expecting it to look like.

"Without fear, we are free!" Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for the war film The Legion, from Spanish producer / director José Magán. Mickey Rourke and Bai Ling star in this epic tale of courage and heroism in a time of war. Set during the Roman–Parthian Wars, the film is about a Roman legion stuck in the snowy mountains of Armenia. Their only hope for survival is Noreno, a half-Roman soldier, who is entrusted with the impossible mission of crossing the deadly terrain to seek help for his men and turn the tide of the battle. Also starring Lee Partridge as Noreno, plus Joaquim de Almeida, Vladimir Kulich, Max Matveev, Bosco Hogan, Tristan McConnell, and Ciaran O'Grady. This looks a bit too bland, an excessive focus on one-on-one fights, and mostly people running through the wilderness. Still might be cool. Here's the official trailer (+ new poster) for José Magán's The Legion,...

"So we're supposed to be debt collectors, yeah? We didn't collect anything." An official international trailer has debuted for an action comedy titled The Debt Collector, which is the same title as a 1999 film starring Billy Connolly & Ken Stott. This new The Debt Collector is executive produced by and stars Scott Adkins, who plays a classically-trained martial artist who takes a job as a debt collector for the mob. The typical plot involves a client that "pulls him into a situation deeper than could ever be expected." Also starring Louis Mandylor, Michael Pare, Tony Todd, and Vladimir Kulich. This looks like a crazy violent, awkward dark comedy, buddy movie and I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Could be good, could be bad? Take a look. I will readily admit that I have fallen into debt in the past and experienced not so charming people encouraging me to pay up. But. If Scott Adkins knocked on my door and asked me to pay what I owed, I would never dream of saying no. In the first trailer for The Debt Collector, however, we see a few people who haven't gotten that message yet. Watch it below and start saving up money now so you can see The Debt Collector when it opens in June 2018. Louis Mandylor, Michael Pare, Tony Todd and Vladimir Kulich also star. Jesse V. Johnson directed. P.S. Note that the trailer may be considered Nsfw (Not Safe For Work), due to profanity and glimpses of certain bare...

When a film opens with Scott Adkins rising from the mud with a scream in Indochina circa 1959, you begin cultivating expectations. You forgive the ham-fisted voiceover narration and the quick slow motion cuts disorienting place and time. You forgive the lack of context as to why this man (and a woman too) was trapped under mud in the first place because you’re re-situating yourself in your seat to brace for the impact of the actor’s fists against the flesh of whomever put him there. Maybe the woman is a love interest. Maybe she won’t survive. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I hoped she wouldn’t so the bloodlust could increase further towards revenge. Sadly, vengeance — why I sat down at all — is still an hour away.

Ok, let’s all just say it together. Scott Adkins is the saviour of Dtv action movies. Charismatic, skilled and just a downright badass (and likeable) actor, whatever Adkins seemingly touches turns to gold – the Universal Soldier franchise was improved by his addition, as was the Undisputed series: in fact he made that particular fighting franchise Better with each and every sequel. Even the football-themed series Green Street was made watchable by the appearance of Adkins in the third installment, and that coming from someone who, typically, refuses to watch movies based on idiotic football hooligans.
Hold on… Turns out I may have a man-crush on Scott Adkins! And that’s not a bad thing.

You've gotta watch this trailer for the upcoming action thriller Savage Dog, which features Scott Adkins (Doctor Strange, The Expendables II) kicking ass as he embarks on a mission for revenge.
The movie looks like it came straight out of the early 1990s, which is why I'm kind of looking forward to watching it. I've seen a few trailers for upcoming action films recently that reminded me of movies from the 90s. Are 90s-style action movies making a comeback!? Yeah, it looks like a very low-budget flick, but sometimes it's just fun to sit back, relax, and watch a fun movie like this. Here's the synopsis:
Indochina, 1959. A Wild West town controlled by the criminal class: Vietnamese warlords and European war criminals. The worst prison in the land, it is here that a European, former-champion boxer Martin Tilman (Scott Adkins) has made a name for himself fighting tournaments. When Tilman is due for release,...

"There's a tale told somewhere south of Burma. The tale tells of a man..." XLrator Media has debuted an official trailer for an action movie titled Savage Dog, which looks like it's straight out of the 90s as an action movie mixing guns and martial arts and a ridiculous revenge plot and so much more. Scott Adkins stars as a former champion boxer stuck in a prison in Indochina in the late 1950s. When he is released, the people running the jail don't want him to leave and so he must figure out a way to get home. The full cast includes Marko Zaror, Juju Chan, Cung Le, Vladimir Kulich, Charles Fathy, Matthew Marsden, Sheena Chou, and the incomparable Keith David. I really don't know how to describe this, it has some cool action but it seriously looks like this was made 30 years ago and kept in a vault until now.

It’s taken a while, and was expected a fair few weeks ago, but the first trailer for The Equalizer is finally here! The movie remake of the TV series which ran from 1985 – 1989 and starred the late Edward Woodward. Along with Denzel Washington, it stars up and coming Kick-Ass actress Chloe Grace Moretz.
The Equalizer will see Washington and director Antoine Fuqua reteam after previously working together on Training Day over a decade ago in 2001.
This first sneak peek at the movie doesn’t offer up a lot more in terms of plot details than the synopsis below, but it does highlight some great action sequences and the fact that the lead actor is once again playing a stone cold tough guy who will do whatever necessary. In short, it looks like a lot of fun!

You do not want to mess with Denzel Washington when he re-teams with Antoine Fuqua in “The Equalizer,” a big-screen adaptation of the ’80s TV show about a badass English guy in America who fights for the little guy. This version features a badass American guy in the role, which is ironic, I thought Brits got all the American roles and not the other way around these days? Anyways, take a gander at the first trailer for “The Equalizer,” where Denzel busts heads and kicks ass. Sure, he’s a little older and slower these days, but no one’s perfect. A former black ops commando who faked his death for a quiet life in Boston comes out of his retirement to rescue a young girl and finds himself face to face with Russian gangsters. Starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Denzel Washington, Melissa Leo, Marton Csokas, Bill Pullman, Haley Bennett, Vladimir Kulich,...

Denzel Washington is a bad man in director Antoine Fuqua’s “The Equalizer.” It’s a good thing, then, that there are even badder people in need of having their asses kicked, because that’s exactly what Washington’s character will be doing lots of in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of the ’80s TV series of the same name. In the flick, Denzel plays “a former black ops commando who faked his death for a quiet life in Boston. He comes out of his retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri, and finds himself face to face with Russian gangsters.” “Kick-Ass’s” Chloe Moretz will play Teri, the girl in need of saving. Which is amusing given that, well, Moretz played Hit-Girl in the “Kick-Ass” movies, and I don’t think anyone is going to confuse Hit-Girl with someone who needs saving. Anyways, the film co-stars Marton Csokas, Bill Pullman,...

Today we get our first look at Denzel Washington in director Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming film, The Equalizer. Originally set to be directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, the upcoming crime thriller, which is based on the 80s TV show of the same name, reunites Washington with his Training Day director in a film that is already sounding very promising.
The always reliable actor, who is currently coming off a very, very hot streak, will step into the role of Robert McCall, “a retired covert operative who, seeking redemption for his dark deeds, quits a CIA-like agency and puts an advertisement in the paper that reads simply: Got a problem? There’s a moment in Ironclad where the full, forceful reality of medieval combat may divide those who relish their violence visceral and bloody, and those who prefer the power of suggestion. That the theme of division neatly describes what the Templar Knight anti-hero Marshall (James Purefoy) does to one of the bad guys from shoulder to groin with a five foot broadsword is neither here not there.
The director, Jonathan English, has said that one of his commitments in making Ironclad was to create the most brutal action carnage yet seen in the genre, and on that level success is assured – the action kicks off in the first five minutes and rarely stops – but what sets the film apart is that the brutality is just part of an engrossing, and well-acted tale.

While the idea of ceasing the overall usage of adapting stories, classic or otherwise, into feature films is laughable, there are those stories that just should not be touched again. Whether they have been done so many times that it seems trivial to adapt onto the silver screen or an adaptation has come along that so definitely captures the essence of the story, there are those classic stories that should simply be left alone. Certainly, there are those stories that we will have left off this list, and some of you may think some of these classic stories deserve another go in the feature film realm. For now, and in honor of Robert Zemeckis’ adaptation of A Christmas Carol, we give you our 10 classic stories that should Not be adapted ever again.
