The combination of family drama and quirky comedy has always been dominant in the Japanese movie industry, with a plethora of titles following the rules of the category. The most distinctive aspect of Pff’s scholarships is the element of freedom. Pff offers their filmmakers freedom in terms of planning the script, as long as it is within the budget.

This year’s Pia Film Festival (Pff) was held from 10 to 23 September at the National Film Center of the National Museum of Modern Art, in Tokyo, with the award-winning ceremony taking place on the last day. The jury was comprised from Shuichi Okita, Naoko Okigami, (directors), Hitsohi Endo (producer) Yohei Sadoshima (editor) Yojiro Noda (Artist/Musician).
