Zahra Newman, Josh Quong Tart, Natalie Tran and stand-up comedian Geraldine Hickey have joined the cast of the fourth season of the ABC’s Rosehaven, which is now shooting in Tasmania.

Jonathan Brough and Shaun Wilson are sharing the directing duties on the eight episodes for What Horse? and Guesswork Television.

Creators/writers Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola are again producing with Andrew Walker, with Fiona McConaghy as co-producer, co-funded by Screen Tasmania and the ABC.

The new series sees best friends Daniel (McGregor) and Emma (Pacquola) finally getting into the groove of being real estate agents.

That’s until McCallum Real Estate, the only agency in town, faces competition from another agent, forcing the duo and Daniel’s formidable mother Barbara (Kris McQuade), who’s still in charge, to draw on all their skills and local knowledge.

The Rosehaven TV show is an Australian production. It got its start on Australia's ABC TV in 2016. SundanceTV then boarded as a co-producer and aired the first two seasons stateside, in the fall of 2017. Now that it is back for its long-awaited third season, will the audience still care? I’m fairly confident that all casting for The Great Gatsby from this point on will only be for smaller characters, with every addition over the past few weeks not feeling like anything too momentous. This is only continuing, as Variety has learned that Callan McAuliffe is set to play a young Jay Gatsby in Baz Luhrmann‘s 3D adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel.

Previous film credits for McAuliffe include a lead role in Rob Reiner‘s Flipped, in addition to I Am Number Four. If this is similar to the original text, then his scenes should be small, serving more of a thematic purpose than a narrative one for Leonardo DiCaprio‘s older version of Gatsby. The cast also includes Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Jason Clarke, Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth DeBicki, Jack Thompson, and Kim Knuckey. With production set to begin next month, it’s expected to open in November 2012.

Alan Dale seems to have earned a great gig at the last minute, as Variety is reporting that the Lost actor joined The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo right before production ended, playing a “career detective on the verge of retirement.” Having a) not read Stieg Larsson‘s book and b) barely remembering the Swedish adaptation means that I can’t make heads or tails as to who that might be — but him being cast so late tells me that this isn’t a big part. The guy is a good actor, though, so having him involved in any capacity is fine by me.

Directed by David Fincher and written by Steven Zaillian, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo stars Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Robin Wright, and Stellan Skarsgård, and will open on December 21st.

Baz Luhrmann‘s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby won’t begin shooting until next month, but many of the actors have already started to make their way down to Sydney, Australia, where production will take place. Some new photos have shown up that feature Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire in the area, driving around in a period-appropriate vehicle, while our first look at both the latter actor and Isla Fisher in character has been revealed.

Out of everyone shown in these pictures, Fisher stands out the most, as her makeup and costumes render her near-unrecognizable; Maguire, meanwhile, doesn’t look all that different. The shots of DiCaprio and Maguire don’t seem to have them dressed for shooting, with their driving apparently being a practice for when they’re required to drive in scenes. It’s also possible that the two of them saw this vintage car and seized...

Of all the 3-D productions that are being lined up right now, the one that has us most intrigued is director Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

Luhrmann has assembled an impressive cast for the movie, with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the title character of Jay Gatsby, Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway, Carey Mulligan as Daisy, Gatsby's love interest, Joel Edgerton as Daisy's husband Tom Buchanan, and Isla Fisher as Buchanan's mistress Myrtle. That's a scandalous amount of affairs for a movie based on a 1925 novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, but, outside of a sequence toward the book's finale, we can't understand what 3-D will bring to the story. Admittedly, we're curious.

Great Expectations, the classic Charles Dickens novel that Mike Newell will adapt for an upcoming film, has built up a steady group of actors over the past few months. First, Jeremy Irvine — the star of Spielberg‘s upcoming War Horse — and Helena Bonham Carter were cast in lead roles, which was soon followed by the news of Ralph Fiennes jumping on board, along with Holiday Grainger. It’s now being reported by The Daily Mail (via ThePlaylist) that Jason Flemyng has joined the film, where he’ll be playing Joe Gargery.

In the original novel, Gargery was the blacksmith husband of Pip’s sister, and he also serves as a father figure for the protagonist. Flemyng has had a wide-ranging career, with parts in movies from X-Men: First Class to Benjamin Button; the former even had him in an unrecognizable state, due to him playing the demonic character, Azazel. With the four-month shoot on Baz Luhrmann's $150 million 3D adaptation of "The Great Gatsby" getting underway in Sydney in two weeks, the minor roles are finally being locked down according to The Daily Telegraph.

Screen veteran Jack Thompson has scored a role in the project, though the role is unspecified one possibility is that of Henry C. Gatz - the father of Leonardo DiCaprio's Jay Gatsby character. "Underbelly: Razor" star Kim Knuckey has also scored a role as a senator.

The film's female lead Carey Mulligan says "there is no singing" when questioned about an old rumour that the adaptation could be a musical.
