    • Pee Wee King was born on February 18, 1914 in Abrams, Wisconsin, USA. He was an actor, known for Planet Terror (2007), Gangster Squad (2013) and Natural Born Killers (1994). He was married to Lydia Frank. He died on March 7, 2000 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.

  • Country and pop music performer. His band was known as the Golden West Cowboys.
  • Had one of the earliest hit versions of "The Tennesee Waltz"; his version hit No. 3 on Billboard magazine's country charts in 1948.
  • His biggest hit, and only Billboard No. 1 country hit, came in 1951 with "Slow Poke"; the song was also a major pop hit.
  • A talented songwriter, usually with lyrics by Redd Stewart, his band's long-time male vocalist. Among the King/Stewart compositions that have become standards are "The Tennessee Waltz" and "You Belong to Me".
  • Pee Wee King's composition "The Tennessee Waltz" became the State Song of Tennessee in 1965.
