Four years have gone by since it was announced that Channing Tatum was teaming up with It producer Roy Lee to develop an adaptation of the Image Comics property The Maxx – and while that would sometimes be enough time to for us to assume a project has fallen by the wayside, apparently that’s not the case here. Tatum has taken to social media to confirm that The Maxx is still in the works, and to express his excitement for the project.
Tatum wrote, “Oh my god I’m so excited for this I can’t even explain. The Maxx!!!! This is a childhood love of mine. The truly brilliant genius creation of Sam Kieth. When I was grounded and wasn’t allowed to watch TV this was the cartoon on MTV’s Oddities I would risk it all for. Sneak out of bed and put it on and pray I didn’t get caught.

Netflix has resumed production on Season 2 of “The Sandman” in London after it was initially interrupted by the Hollywood strikes.
The news comes on the 35th anniversary of the DC comic book series on which the show is based. Neil Gaiman, who wrote the comics and developed the TV series, celebrated the occasion with a letter to fans promising that “good things are coming.” Netflix also shared a new photo that shows Tom Sturridge, who plays Dream, and Mason Alexander Park, who plays Desire, on set.
Season 1 of “The Sandman” premiered in August of 2022 with a surprise 11th episode arriving on Netflix a week later. The series was generally well received, with Variety‘s review saying that “the show works hard to set itself apart from those Netflix attempts at reanimating beloved properties that instead flattened them out.”

“The Sandman” is returning to Netflix. The streaming platform has officially renewed the Neil Gaiman series based on the DC Comics universe, expanding the franchise with new episodes based on other stories from the graphic novels.
Leading up to Wednesday’s evening announcement, there was rampant speculation among Netflix subscribers about whether “The Sandman” would be renewed or was even canceled, despite its success, even leading Gaiman to dispute a tweet from a fan account online. And while Netflix has renewed “The Sandman,” it’s not exactly coming back for a Season 2, as the show will focus on other aspects of the conflict between Dream and the forces of Hell, exploring the many challenges facing the universe in the wake of Morpheus’ century-long absence. The number of episodes and all plot specifics have been kept under wraps to this point.

This The Sandman review contains No Spoilers and is based on all 10 episodes of the first season of the show.
After decades of failed or blocked film adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, Netflix has finally broken through with a new 10-episode series, released on Aug. 5.
And it was all worth the wait. The Sandman is spectacular.
The series, adapted for television by Allan Heinberg, David Goyer, and Gaiman himself, follows Dream of the Endless as he is captured by a human warlock and held in captivity for 100 years. He escapes captivity and returns to his realm, The Dreaming, to rebuild and reorient himself, and that process leads to personal growth and deeper relationships with his subjects and his siblings.

Of all the graphic novel adaptations to hit the small screen this year, “The Sandman,” based on the Neil Gaiman and Sam Keith series published by DC Comics’ now defunct Vertigo imprint, is one of Netflix’s most anticipated. Spanning seven years and 75 issues, the Sandman universe chronicles The Endless, a dysfunctional family of siblings that anthropomorphize Delirium, Desire, Despair, Destiny, Destruction, Death, and Dreams.
The first season of Netflix’s “The Sandman” primarily focuses on Morpheus, The King of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), his attendants, Lucienne (Vivienne Acheampong), the librarian who catalogs all of human existence, and Matthew (Patton Oswald), a talking raven. He serves as Dream’s eyes and ears in the waking world. However, when Morpheus unexpectedly disappears, leaving the Dreaming unattended for a century, his realm and humanity are left vulnerable.

As a newcomer to Neil Gaiman’s seminal comic book series “The Sandman”, I came to Netflix’s adaptation with an open mind and curious eye. Knowing this 1989 title had spawned onscreen spinoffs of “Sandman” characters — “Lucifer,” “Constantine,” etcetera — but never one of its own, it was hard not to wonder what about it might have made a live-action version so hard that it never happened until now. As I went back and forth between the TV show and the original volumes, though, the difficulty that any production would have in tackling its scope became clearer — and made Netflix’s result more impressive, too.
As adapted by Gaiman, Allan Heinberg (“Wonder Woman”), and David S. Goyer, TV’s “The Sandman” errs toward a literal translation of the comics as often as possible. For as complex as the series’ mythology becomes, the show finds a way to introduce new fans without completely confusing them.

“The Sandman” series, adapted from Neil Gaiman’s 1989 comic series — co-created by Sam Keith and Mike Dringenberg — will creep into consciousness in the first week of August. The ten-episode series follows the story of The Dream King Morpheus, a powerful being aiming to correct past mistakes he made, both cosmically and more minutely.
Names behind the television interpretation of the DC comic include Allan Heinberg as showrunner, executive producer and writer, as well as David S. Goyer and Neil Gaiman as executive producers and writers. Many minds have combined to produce a series that walks between dream and waking worlds.
Fans of the comic, Gaiman and/or the sprawling ensemble cast may be wondering how to watch the haunting story, and the answers are pretty simple.

The Netflix show follows Dream of the Endless, who is the living embodiment of dreams and master of the Dreaming itself. The series is based on the seminal comic of the same name by Neil Gaiman and a host of incredible artists including Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg, Colleen Doran, Jill Thompson, and Marc Hempel, among many others.

In its original 75-issue run from 1989-1996, the DC Comics series The Sandman weaved a massive story about the return and downfall of Morpheus the Dream Lord. Written by Neil Gaiman, with pencils by legends such as Charles Vess and Sam Keith, The Sandman often functioned like an anthology series, focusing on the various characters who interacted with Dream and his family, whether they be a house cat who remembers a world of rodent-sized humans or William Shakespeare himself.

This Easter weekend in between eating chocolate and re-watching The Defenders on Netflix I did some comic collection housekeeping. There was a two pronged attack to the housekeeping: First I wanted to update my want lists both into a new notebook and in order of priority. Next I came across a new website for cataloguing your collection so I wanted to put that through its paces and give it a review. So I will start things off with some notes on my want lists then dive into my review of zapkapow.com
Daredevil: When I first started collecting Daredevil it was a case of getting and digesting all the Frank Miller stuff first. I done so relatively quickly and without breaking the bank. I think now I am aiming to get as many of the first run as possible. Realistically I think #1-#20 are more than likely out of my price range.

The “Lucifer” Season 5B premiere date has risen. Netflix revealed Monday that the second half of the fifth season of the Tom Ellis-led drama will launch May 28.
That upcoming installment of “Lucifer” is set as the show’s penultimate, following Netflix’s June 2020 renewal of “Lucifer” for a sixth and final season. The eight-episode Part 1 of Season 5 launched last August.
“Imagine running a marathon and then getting right to the end and then they go, ‘Oh, by the way, the finish line is a little bit further.'” That’s how Ellis, who plays Lucifer Morningstar, described to TheWrap Netflix’s decision to renew “Lucifer” for a sixth and final season, after previously picking it up for a fifth and final season, after rescuing it for a fourth season following its cancellation at Fox after its third season.

According to writer Neil Gaiman ("American Gods"), production is continuing on the Netflix live-action TV series "Sandman", adapting DC Comic's 1998, 75-issue Vertigo title, created by Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, depicting the 'Dream of the Endless', who rules over the world of dreams:

Netflix dropped the trailer for the first half of Season 5 of “Lucifer” on Monday, revealing that Lucifer (Tom Ellis) will be returning from hell much sooner than you probably anticipated. Oh, wait, that’s because it’s not actually Lucifer — it’s his evil twin, Michael.
In the trailer for Season 5A, which you can watch via the video above, Chloe (Lauren German) is trying desperately to move on with her life after Lucifer’s decision to return to run his fiery kingdom at the end of Season 4. She has been focusing on work and hanging with Maz (Lesley-Ann Brandt) in hopes of healing — and then Lucifer pops right back up from the depths of hell. Except, um, we soon find out that who we think is Lucifer is his twin — and a rather evil one at that — Michael.
Here’s the official description for the first half of “Lucifer” Season 5, which launches Aug.

“Lucifer” will live on, with Netflix announcing that they have renewed the show for a sixth and final season. The announcement was made on social media Tuesday morning.
This now marks the second time the show has been renewed for a “final” season at Netflix. After airing on Fox for three years before being canceled, Netflix revived it for a fourth season in 2018. It was announced last year that Season 5 would be the last. The show made a tongue-in-cheek reference to its surprising longevity, saying Season 6 will be the “Final final” season in making the announcement. No episode count was announced with the renewal. The longest season to date was Season 3 on Fox, which was 26 episodes.
“Lucifer” centers on Tom Ellis as the titular fallen angel and the Lord of Hell, who works with the LAPD to take down Earth’s criminals. The series also stars Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro,...

Netflix has saved “Lucifer” once again. The streaming service has renewed the Tom Ellis-led drama for a sixth season and final season after previously announcing the show’s upcoming fifth season, which premieres this August, would be its final.
The announcement was made via a tweet from the show’s official account Tuesday morning: “the devil made us do it. #lucifer will return for a sixth and final season. like, Final final.”
Netflix resurrected “Lucifer” back in June 2018, picking the series up for a fourth season after it had been canceled by Fox. Season 4 debuted on the streaming service almost a year later, in May 2019, and one month after the launch, Netflix renewed “Lucifer” for a 16-episode fifth and final season set to debut in 2020.

Netflix has finally set the premiere date for the first half of Season 5 of “Lucifer” with an announcement that is missing any mention of this being the show’s final season.

A sixth season of Lucifer is moving closer to reality after star Tom Ellis has closed a deal to return as the title character.
Netflix earlier this year started talks with series producer Warner Bros. TV about another installment of the comic book drama beyond the upcoming fifth season, which had been billed as a final installment. Executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, who have been steering the show, quickly closed new deals for another season.
It took lengthy, difficult negotiations with Ellis but he also recently signed on to return. The rest of the cast are also on board, sources said. With all key pieces in place, Netflix is expected to proceed with the pickup.

The upcoming fifth season of Lucifer may not be as final as it seemed.
Netflix is in talks with series producer Warner Bros. TV about another installment of the comic book drama, sources have confirmed to Deadline. I hear executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, who have been steering the show, would need to make a new deal but would like to do another season.
If all comes together, I hear the plan is for Lucifer to go back into production in September. Star Tom Ellis and other Lucifer cast members already have been approached for broadcast pilots and new series on various platforms, so Netflix and Wbtv would need to step up their efforts to secure the actors. But they are available, and sources close to the situation are optimistic that a renewal would happen.

Channing Tatum’s Free Association and Roy Lee’s Vertigo Entertainment are going to The Maxx with their latest project. The partnership is developing the reality-bending superhero saga called The Maxx for a live-action adaptation .
The title character of The Maxx is a masked hero who protects the Jungle Queen in the Outback, a realm that resembles primordial Australia, but he also exists in our world as a homeless man whose masked face and fantastical mutterings are dismissed as mental illness.
The Maxx was created by writer and artist Sam Kieth and published first in 1993 by Image Comics but the brand’s widest reach was with the award-winning animated adventures that aired on MTV’s Oddities in 1995. The Annie Award-winning adaption melded traditional animation, CG craft, and live-action interstitial content in an off-kilter amalgam that suited the story’s surreal premise (which at times evoked Terry Gilliam’s The Fisher King...

Netflix will divide the fifth and final season of Lucifer into two eight-episode segments. The first eight will arrive, then a little break of indeterminate length, then the final eight will appear, according to series star Tom Ellis.
The revelation was made today during The Kelly Clarkson Show. Clarkson was giving her mom and sister a tour of the Lucifer set guided by Ellis.
Clarkson’s family are huge Lucifer fans, with her sister a particular fangirl who introduced Clarkson to the series.
Netflix expanded the final Season 5 episode order for Lucifer, adding six more hours to bring the season total to 16 episodes. The move to add additional episodes came from the impassioned fan support, the same base that got the former Fox show moved to Netflix.
Buoyed by strong fan support, which made Lucifer the No. 1 trending topic worldwide on the day of its May 2018 cancellation, series producer Warner Bros.

The premium cabler has given the project a script-to-series order and will co-produce along with Fremantle, with a writers room set to be opened soon. Fremantle announced last year that they were developing a series based on the books.
The books center on the inhabitants of the city-sized castle Gormenghast. Its denizens are only vaguely aware of how or why the castle came to be, but over the course of the series the powers that have held the castle in place are challenged and the ensuing disruptions reveal its fantastical secrets.
Toby Whithouse will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Neil Gaiman, Akiva Goldsman, Dante Di Loreto, Oliver Jones, Barry Spikings, and David Stern will also executive produce.
Whithouse previously created the BBC series “Being Human,” with an American version airing on Syfy in the U.

Netflix has decided to give the devil his due. The streamer has expanded the final Season 5 episode order for Lucifer, adding six more hours to bring the season total to 16 episodes.
The addition was announced Friday on the official NetflixUS Twitter account. The move to add additional episodes might have come from impassioned fan support, the same base that got the former Fox show moved to Netflix.
Last month, Lucifer executive producer Ildy Modrovich tried to break the news gently to fans that their beloved TV show is entering its final season.
In a Twitter post, Modrovich tried to head off efforts by fans who already were contemplating lobbying for a sixth season of the show. Netflix picked up a fourth and fifth season of the comic book drama after it was canceled by Fox after three seasons, in part because of the huge outpouring of support from fans of the series.

Hallelujah! Netflix has blessed the fifth and final season of “Lucifer” with an additional six episodes, bringing the grand total for the supernatural drama’s last run to 16.
The streaming service announced last month that it would end the Tom Ellis-led drama with a 10-episode fifth and final season to launch in 2020. No premiere date has been given for what is now a 16-episode Season 5.
“Lucifer” Season 4 dropped May 8 on Netflix, close to a year after the streamer revived the show following its cancellation at Fox. The 10-episode fourth season ended with one hell of a cliffhanger, which Ellis broke down for TheWrap here.

Lucifer fans rejoiced when the series was picked up by Netflix for a fourth season following its cancelation at Fox, and now there's a new reason for fans to celebrate (albeit bittersweetly), as the streaming service has renewed Lucifer for its fifth and final season.
The Lucifer renewal news was announced on Twitter in a video (see below) featuring Tom Ellis exulting in the announcement's wake.
The tweet also revealed that the fifth season will be the show's last. It's not yet known how many episodes season 5 will contain, but the fourth season (the first one to premiere on Netflix) consisted of 10 episodes.
We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on future Lucifer announcements. In the meantime, what do you hope to see in the show's final season?
thanks to the lucifans, #lucifer's story will come to an end the way it should: the fifth and final season is coming to @netflix.
