SXSW 2017 Interview: Director Joe Martin & Star Jack Roth on the Socio-Political and Economic Focus of Us And Them
For his feature film debut, UK director Joe Martin brazenly takes on the class divide of Britain in Us and Them, his crime thriller that follows a frustrated young man named Danny, played by Jack Roth, who takes out his anger on the wealthy and elite members of society by kidnapping a well-to-do family, which doesn’t go exactly as he planned.

While at the 2017 SXSW Film Festival, Daily Dead took a deep dive into the political and economical focus of Us and Them with both Martin and Roth, resulting in a fascinating discussion on the problems that have caused a great division both in the UK and the world at large.

Fantastic job on the film, guys. It has a lot to say and you put a lot of energy into some really serious issues we can all relate to.

Joe Martin: In this film, the one thing...

'Survivor' Suffers a Record Third Medical Evacuation, Thanks to Beef and Age
Blindsided by beef! "Survivor: Kaoh Rong," aka Season 32, is now down to its final four, and that last elimination was arguably the worst. Who wants to be kicked out of the game for eating too much? Joe Del Campo, a 71-year-old former FBI special agent, was evacuated from the game for medical reasons at the final five. His departure marked the third medevac of the season, which is a record for "Survivor."

It came about in the strangest way, too. Unlike Caleb Reynolds, who collapsed in the heat of a challenge, or Neal Gottlieb, whose cuts and bruises got worse to the point of dangerous, Joe just ate too much. Seriously. He won the reward challenge, his first individual win, and when it came time to eat, he just overdid it on the steak kabobs. Cydney Gillon watched him eating and figured it wasn't going to come to a...

Tom Holland
Here's How Tom Holland Won His Role as Spider-Man
Tom Holland
According to Captain America: Civil War co-director Joe Russo, newcomer Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man in the blockbuster ensemble, is downright invaluable. And this became quite apparent during the young actor's first screen tests. While there were plenty of worthy participants auditioning for the highly coveted role of Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was Holland who proved to have the upper hand in a big way.

Tom Holland, who is now 19 years-old, had to engage in screen tests with Captain America: Civil War's two leading men, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. According to Evans, Tom Holland stood out immediately. Then the actor did something that almost instantly won him the role. The man who plays Captain America had this to say to Entertainment Weekly.

"Kids came in and put on these really ridiculous Spider-Man pajamas. As the scene opens,...

Bachelor in Paradise Will Never Be the Same After Tonight's Incredible, Awe-Inspiring Episode
No joke, lie, or sarcasm: That was our favorite episode of Bachelor in Paradise of all time.  We got drama, we got comedy, we got Ashley S, we got a big return, and we got the most magnificent exit we've ever seen. Honestly, we almost never want to watch the show again because we know it's never going to live up to the brilliance we just witnessed.  First, there was the rose ceremony to deal with, in which three women were going to have to go home, with Jj and Dan pretty much in control of who those women were.  Jj and Joe had their little spat while Joe and Samantha continued to be the absolute worst, with Joe just sure that poor Juelia was about to go home, which was just fine with...

Impractical Jokers: funny, silly, and well worth watching
Comedy Central's hidden camera show Impractical Jokers may not be big or clever, but it is very, very funny...

I’m not entirely sure what made me try Impractical Jokers. It’s one of those shows Comedy Central seems to be spamming their schedules with and I think it’s likely I just landed on it while channel hopping. I’d catch the odd segment here and there and would chuckle before flipping over. Then, maybe I’d leave it on. Then I’d start taping the second half of the show when I wanted to know how something played out but couldn’t keep watching. Now I record every single one, and I have to wait for my wife to get home because she’s totally into it too.

It’s not a programme I would have consciously made an effort to sit down and watch, though. The...

Joe Jackson -- Pacemaker Surgery after 3 Heart Attacks
Joe Jackson suffered 3 heart attacks and just underwent surgery ... TMZ has learned. The 87-year-old was admitted to a Sao Paulo hospital Sunday after signs of a stroke. Joe lost his vision, and a publicist says it was the result of an artery bursting behind his eye, which triggered the stroke. Family sources tell TMZ, once in the hospital he suffered 3 heart attacks. Joe's publicist tells TMZ, in the hospital Joe's heart stopped beating for 10 seconds but he was revived.

The Bachelorette's Kaitlyn Bristowe's Blogs About a Tough Call: 'It Really Did Kill Me'
Kaitlyn Bristowe is the Bachelorette! She charmed her way into the hearts of the Bachelor Nation – and nearly the Bachelor himself, Chris Soules, on season 19 of The Bachelor. Now Kaitlyn has begun her own journey to love.

These cliffhangers are really giving me some good material to work with for the beginning of my blogs!

Let's sum things up. I quit Clint. Clint quit Jj. The romance and the bromance are officially over. Short-lived, I know. There were just too many red flags with Clint. He was great on our one-on-one date but terrible in a group setting. And I...

Gigi Hadid & Joe Jonas -- Let's See 'Em Deny They're Banging Now (Photo)
Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas' reps keep telling us they're just friends -- and if that's true ... Joe just found a way to bust out of the friend zone, because they had a little kissing sesh in public.  The couple was hanging in a bar Thursday night in New York City, and getting very cozy -- Gigi planted a smooch on Joe's hand while they were practically sitting in each other's laps. The Flash episode 19 review: Who Is Harrison Wells?
This week's Smallville-influenced episode of The Flash is a light-hearted hoot that really shows off its cast's comedy chops...

This review contains spoilers.

1.19 Who Is Harrison Wells?

The Flash has always been a bit like Smallville, in tone as well as in its willingness to have fun with easily-defeatable baddies with silly powers, but Who Is Harrison Wells? really, really went there. It was one of the first episodes to truly embrace the humorous potential of the show’s concept, as well as the comedy timing of its collective cast. The result? It’s a hoot, a lot more so than similar episodes of the aforementioned series.

The question in the title actually only makes up a third of the episode, as Cisco and Joe head to Starling City to find out what really happened after Wells’ car accident. It’s the first time either show has crossed over...

'The Americans' producers on season 3: 'It may be that our sense of bad is changing'
FX's "The Americans" just completed a third season (here's my finale review) that was as emotionally rich as the series has ever been, but that at times to my mind suffered from an over-abundance of problems for its Kgb protagonists to deal with. When I got on the phone with showrunners Joel Field and Joe Weisberg, we talked about where they left things involving Paige, Martha, Stan, Nina, and, of course, Philip and Elizabeth, about why they don't feel there's too much going on, how much longer they see their story going, and a lot more. (A couple of notes on the transcript. First, because I was talking to them on the phone for the first time in a while, I asked them at the start to identify which one was speaking so I didn't mis-attribute a quote; this later turned into a running gag where Fields would be...

‘Please Murder Me’ sees underrated greats Lansbury and Burr go head-to-head
Please Murder Me

Written by Donald Hyde and Al C. Ward

Directed by Peter Godfrey

U.S.A., 1956

*It should be noted that the following review contains spoilers pertaining to the film’s plot, including an important revelation on which most of the drama hinges. Readers have been forewarned.

Defence Attorney Craig Carlson (Raymond Burr) sits alone in his office late one night. Having turned on a recording machine he begins to narrate to a fellow lawyer that he is surely to be killed within the hour. At that moment the film flashbacks to some months ago when Craig approaches a dear old friend, Joe Leeds (Dick Foran) with terrible news: Joe’s wife and him have fallen in deeply in love. Joe appears visibly disappointed, but, curiously, less angry than one might expect. He implores Craig to give him time to mull over the situation. Shortly thereafter Joe returns home to see his wife,...

First Look Photos: Another Toy Heads to the Big Screen in 'Max Steel'
If The Lego Movie, Transformers and G.I. Joe just isn't enough toy based movies for your kids to enjoy, then you're probably in the mood for Max Steel. The first photos from the film based on the toy and animated series of the same name have arrived showing off Ben Winchell as Max McGrath, a teenage boy who learns he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend named Steel, (see, it's the title!) produce the universe's most powerful energy. Andy Garcia and Maria Bello also star in the film, because everyone needs a paycheck. This looks pretty cheesy, and likely just for kids, but they don't really make films like this just for the young ones anymore, so maybe it'll be fun for them. Photos below! Here's the first set of photos for Stewart Hendler's Max Steel adaptation, originally from Moviefone: Max Steel is directed...

Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy in The Following (2013)
The Following closed out its second season Monday night with a finale that closed some chapters, left several people dead, and had an ending that, executive producer Marcos Siega says, was always meant to be a taste of something different.

In the conversation below, Siega opens up about said finale, telling us who’s really dead, what we’ll see more of next season, why they filmed two endings, and why fans’ reaction to the ending surprised him and creator Kevin Williamson.

Entertainment Weekly: So you filmed two endings for this episode. Was the other a decoy?

'The Following' Season 2, episode 9 recap: 'Unmasked' brings a major character back from the dead
Warning: The following recap contains major spoilers, since it's recapping Monday (March 17) night's episode of "The Following." Do not continue reading if you have yet to watch "Unmasked." All others, please proceed ...

Claire's back from the dead! Bet you didn't see that twist coming.

Well, to be more accurate, Claire's just back on "The Following," since she was never really dead. While the episode didn't explain much about her fate -- since it was only revealed in the final moments that she's alive and Mike knew about it -- here's what we can put together. Claire survived the attack on her life in the Season 1 finale and went into Witness Protection with Joey (who's probably not actually with his grandma, now that we think about it) to stay hidden from the rest of Joe's followers who were still at large. Mike knew about it and kept it a secret from Ryan this whole time.

'The Following' Recap: Mike Joins Max And Ryan On The Hunt For Joe, Luke Is Fatally Wounded And Joe Leaves Lily
Mike Weston joined Ryan Hardy and Max in their rogue mission to find Joe Carroll while Lily’s plans with Joe fell apart in The Following’s “Fly Away.”

Ryan (Kevin Bacon) is still reeling from his run-in with Luke (Sam Underwood) and Gisele and the moments he thought Max (Jessica Stroup) was dead. While Max stitches up his gun wound, Ryan decides it’s finally time to call Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) and the FBI.

Mike, however, shows up alone. After seeing photographic proof that Joe (James Purefoy) is alive, he becomes convinced that there is a mole in the FBI. Someone must have gotten into the FBI records to fudge the DNA tests that proved that Joe was dead after last season. He takes his theory to Mendez (Valerie Cruz), but she doesn’t buy it and subtly urges him to take a few days off as his...

Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy in The Following (2013)
The Following Episode 205

“Reflection”

Written By: Lizzie Mickery

Directed By: Nicole Kassell

Original Airdate: 17 February 2014

In This Episode…

Max is still following Giselle as she gets off the subway - despite Ryan insisting he wait for her. She makes a call to Luke and has him meet her at “the factory.” Ryan catches up with Max and corners Giselle with a gun on a dark, empty street. “Shoot me - what do I have to lose?” she charges him. He doesn’t shoot, and Giselle turns around - right into Max’s fist. They take her to a motel and cuff her to the bed. It seems like Ryan interrogates her for hours. He tries to make a deal: Giselle can go free, Lily and the twins and everyone else can go free. He just wants to kill Joe Carroll. Giselle’s only response is to spit in Ryan’s face.

'The Following' recap: Ryan takes out 2 followers while Mike finally learns the truth about Joe
The moral of Monday (Feb. 17) night's "The Following:" Never lie to Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). Giselle (Camille De Pazzis) learned that lesson the hard way.

After Ryan met back up with Max (Jessica Stroup), they cornered Giselle while she was on her way to Lily's (Connie Nielsen) house -- where Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) now is -- and she gave up the location of a warehouse where she was going to get picked up by Luke. Ryan told Max to stay with Giselle while he went off to see what was at the warehouse. Unfortunately, Max underestimated Giselle, and the french woman broke her own thumb to escape her handcuffs, knocked out Max and went after Ryan.

At the warehouse, Luke arrived with another one of Lily's "children," and Ryan shot and killed him. Luke (Sam Underwood) injured Ryan, though, and he ran off and broke into a house to patch up his bleeding torso.

'MasterChef Junior': Gordon Ramsay isn't scary, but Joe Bastianich is
Inside a converted warehouse on land in Los Angeles where Howard Hughes once built aircraft, Fox's popular "MasterChef" franchise looks to create a new generation of culinary stars.

Starting on Friday, Sept. 27, "MasterChef Junior" opens up the cooking competition to boys and girls ages 8 to 13. Like the adult amateur chefs, they will still be under the scrutiny and tutelage of chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur and winemaker Joe Bastianich and chef Graham Elliot.

Ramsay is known for his explosive temper, tough judgment and frequently salty language, especially on his other Fox culinary competition show, "Hell's Kitchen." But to listen to two of the kids involved, he's not the one who made them nervous.

"The judges are very intimidating," says 12-year-old Molly from Pasadena, Calif. to Zap2it. "Gordon is scary once you see him on TV, but he's very, very nice once you meet him, very nice, very sweet. Joe Bastianich is the scariest,...

Questions and Answers With Tony Danza
We all know who the boss is at this point, but that doesn't make Tony Danza any less entertaining. The 62-year-old actor has a standout supporting role in "Don Jon," Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut about a Jersey guido (played by Gordon-Levitt, who also wrote the film) who can't stop looking at internet porn even when his girlfriend looks like Scarlett Johansson (literally, she plays the girlfriend). Danza portrays Gordon-Levitt's character's father, a muscled-out, football-loving senior version of his son.

The two worked together nearly 20 years ago in "Angels in the Outfield," but "Don Jon," which opens with an eye-popping sequence of sexy ladies in pop culture, bears no resemblance to that film's family-friendly fare. This is not one to see with your grandmother, folks.

NextMovie sat down with Danza in New York City prior to the film's September 27 release to talk about "Jersey Shore," Gordon-Levitt's acrobatic abilities and how...

Top Ten Most Anticipated Movies at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival
Just figuring out my schedule this year was a chore as the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival organizers certainly didn't make it easy on us. Loaded with conflicts, I've had to make two sacrifices at this year's festival in that I won't be seeing Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom of Parkland due to scheduling conflicts and one film simply has to be chosen over another. However, as I've already seen two of the films playing at the festival in Rush and Kill Your Darlings -- reviews will be posted based on the film's first screenings in Toronto -- I was able to open up my schedule a little following my first, preliminary schedule. Earlier today I posted my new schedule, which currently includes 27 films with a few gaps here and there where other films may fit in, or I may simply be able to catch up on reviews. Either way, I...

TV Reviews: Under the Dome 1.9, “The Fourth Hand”
Rating: 1 out of 5 stars

This show is like a course in how not to write a TV series. Oh sure, the acting and dialogue is generally pretty awful, but it’s the plotting that really takes the cake. This was episode nine of thirteen which means that nearly three quarters into the season the characters haven’t actually learned anything about the premise of the series nor have they made much headway in terms of reorganizing their new environment other than handing over all their guns to a guy who’s been directly involved in multiple deaths and explosions. Aside from the characters we’ve been following (for reasons which still aren’t very well illustrated other than a vague sense that we’re supposed to be intrinsically interested in their lack of intelligence), there’s no real sense of what’s going on with the community of Chester’s...

My agent was a man called Robin Fox. I was in a relationship with his son, Willy, an officer in the Coldstream Guards, who later changed his name to James. I'd already been offered the part of Vera the maid, so I said: "I won't do it unless you audition Willy for the role of the aristocrat." Nobody could have done it better. Dirk was suggesting Willy, too. And he was brilliant.

People still come up to me and say how that scene where I'm on the kitchen table, with a tap dripping, is the sexiest scene. But I didn't see anything sexy about it. It was just a very innocent, simple scene. I got up on a table and tapped my tummy – what's sexy about that?...

Beauty and the Beast Review: The Beautiful Beast
Every episode of Beauty and the Beast just gets better.

"Insatiable" was no exception, as it upped the stakes even higher. Who thought that was possible? It was on the 15th episode of Beauty and the Beast Season 1. We still have seven more to go. Can you imagine what else is going to happen or be revealed? I really can't - and that makes for great writing. The best reveal would be for a second season pickup.

I really don't like that every murder will immediately be "vigilante" related by the police force. Catherine was right, he may not be an angel, but he only kills when he's protecting someone else. Isn't that the definition of vigilante? At first I thought Gabe was going to listen to her rationally after Joe wanted to get justice at the end of a barrel (nice one, Mr. Police Chief), but then he also...

Joe Jonas
Jonas Brothers Fan: Joe Blew Me Off, Made Fun Of Me (Report)
Joe Jonas
Tsk tsk, Joe Jonas. There's a reason they say, "Do not bite the hand that feeds you."

The 23-year-old pop sensation was out with his brother Nick Saturday night and, according to one very disappointed fan who reported it to RadarOnline, was anything but nice.

College student Andy Hertfeld, 19, a self-proclaimed Jonas fan, noticed Joe and his girlfriend Blanda Eggenschwiler outside Sauce restaurant in New York that fateful night. He and his friends were so psyched, they decided to catch a glimpse of their favorite singer up close.

“As we were walking closer we saw that he was smoking a cigarette with Blanda, and the minute he saw us walking closer he threw it down," Hertfeld told RadarOnline. "After we approached him, he shook his head no."

Despite that, the excited group kept going. When they got close, one of Hertfeld's friends asked for a picture with the "Burnin' Up" singer.

Looper Movie Review
I’ll admit. At first glance several months ago, I wasn’t jazzed at all to see Looper. The bad prosthetics trying to make Joseph Gordon-Levitt look like a younger Bruce Willis didn’t inspire much confidence or interest from me.

But then I started hearing more and more about the plot and the world that was created by writer/director Rian Johnson (director of the fantastic high school crime noir Brick with Jgl.)

I also read a few of the early positive reviews, which thankfully didn’t reveal too much. Plus, its got the talented and gorgeous Emily Blunt in it. So I decided to give Looper a watch.

Its been an interesting time for sci-fi fans over the past few years. A number of films have come out that are attempting to break the whole 'new trilogy' Star Wars mold. In short, they're trying not to be bloated,...

Nicolas Cage at an event for Conduite infernale (2011)
Nic Cage Tracks Down Joe
Nicolas Cage at an event for Conduite infernale (2011)
Here’s a director / actor pairing we’re not sure we’d have guessed at: David Gordon Green has hooked up with Nicolas Cage for his next film, a gritty southern Us-set drama called Joe.From the sounds of it, it’s another shift in gear for the director who has most recently been making comedies such as Your Highness and The Sitter.Adapted from Larry Brown’s novel by screenwriter Gary Hawkins, the movie will unspool the story of ex-con Joe (Cage) who becomes something of a role model to teenager Gary Jones. Gary is trying to escape his drunken, dangerous father and homeless family, and Joe just might be his path to a better life in one of the dodgier corners of Mississippi."When Larry Brown wrote the novel, he instantly created an iconic character of contemporary Southern literature," Gordon Green says in a statement picked up by the Hollywood Reporter.

"Big Brother" Recap: Twist! Let's Rank the Remaining Houseguests
Britney. Sweet Britney. Sweet, smart Britney. Sweet, smart, redemeption-worthy Britney. It took the beleaguered Dan about an hour to reverse his own fate and seal hers, and for that, she'll be the most well-known dupe in Bb history. It stings. And it's also awesome in a damn-near-Shakespearean way.

But because Britney, my obvious favorite at this point, is now sleeping on a ping pong table in the jury hourse, we have to navigate what to do with our residual feelings. Without further ado, let's rank the remaining contenders according to how much we want them to win, starting with the cleeeeear worst.

7. Joe

There's something quaint about Joe's commitment to Shane, especially since it's one of the more randomly occurring alliances in the house. They get along! They're buds! Or Shane's just keeping it afloat as long as it's convenient. Whatever! Outside of this alliance, Joe just hasn't been a competitor,...

‘Housewives of NJ’ star explains husband’s behavior
HollywoodNews.com: ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star Jacqueline Laurita has been dealing with a lot on the show in regard to her former friend Teresa Giudice.

But now she is dealing with defending her husband’s recent actions in regard to a matter involving Teresa’s husband, states RadarOnline. Joe Giudice recently said a gay slur against Greg Bennett when it appeared that Jacqueline’s husband was laughing along.

However, it seems that was not the case: “For the record…After Joe’s comment to Greg on the bus my husband was not laughing With Joe; he was laughing At Joe because he couldn’t believe that he said what he said to Greg, out loud and on camera.”

“My husband covered his face from embarrassment and laughed uncomfortably because he was just in shock over what Joe just said,” Jacqueline continued to explain.

What did you think about what happened?...

Rap Fire Starter Joe Cool Just Wants The 'Fame'
The Vernon Parish, Louisiana, Mc didn't have Lil Wayne or Boosie connections, so he made his own way.

By Rob Markman

Fire Starter: Joe Cool

There weren't any local rap heroes for Vernon Parish, Louisiana, Mc Joe Cool to pattern himself after, but that didn't deter the 23-year-old upstart. He was too far from New Orleans to have any Cash Money connection, and hip-hop hot spot Baton Rouge wasn't exactly nearby, so Joe just looked to his close buddies for support. And now it is all starting to pay off.

"I started rapping when I was like 15. All my friends rapped — I was just chillin' in the background. I used to make funny songs and stuff," Joe told Mixtape Daily during a February interview.

It was those "funny" little songs that then turned into hooks for more-developed local rappers. But at the urging of a friend,...

Friday Noir: ‘Side Street’ runs on bustling energy from start to finish
Side Street

Directed by Anthony Mann

Screenplay by Charles Schnee

U.S.A., 1950

There is a favourite saying used among film reviewers when espousing the virtues of a film that uses the story’s locale to the full extent: location ‘x’ is a character in of itself. While an admittedly clever term, it has been slightly overused in recent years to the point where it seems that just about any film’s geographical setting can be deemed a figurative character. Rare are the movies for which a director will take that saying to heart to the extent that the location actually feel like its own character, perfectly complementing the overall picture. Anthony Mann is one such director, whose stunningly brings Manhattan, the city that never sleeps, to life in Side Street.

Struggling through life as a part-time mail carrier, Joe Norson (Farley Granger) is not the most accomplished fellow in the world.

Tna Impact 5/1/2012 Review – Genesis Go Home Show
Tna Impact Wrestling!

5/1/11

This weeks Impact begins with Sting coming to the ring. I love how no matter what other clothes hes wearing he never forgets his skeleton gloves. I once knew a Goth like that. Sting calls out another man reliving his teenage years, Jeff Hardy. If he ever left them that is. Sting tells him hes been impressed lately. Jeff Hardys face is half painted, half not. Sting says he once took his second chance and made something of it, just like Jeff Hardy is now. “There’s creatures out there that adore you and look up to you.” Some of his fans are definitely creatures. Hardy chant amongst them now as Sting gives Jeff his full 100% Endorsement. This brings out Roode, Angle and Bully Ray. They get in the ring and call him out on endorsing Jeff Hardy and that not being fair and square. He accuses...

Los Angeles! The Exorcist is Coming to the Stage
My buddy Joe just tipped me off the Geffen Playhouse site where a place holder has been made for a stage production based on "The Exorcist."

It's coming to L.A. July 3 to August 12. Read on:

The most chilling test of faith come to life on stage. This world premiere adaptation of the famous 1971 novel documenting the terror and redemption of a ten-year-old girl remains as frightening and relevant as when first experienced. Under the direction of Tony Award winner John Doyle and adapted by acclaimed playwright John Pielmeier (Agnes of God), The Exorcist transforms the unsettling battles of good versus evil, faith versus fact and ego versus ethos into a uniquely theatrical experience as sophisticated as it is suspenseful.

We'll have more on this as it comes...

Next Factor: 'Super' Star Joel Courtney
Fifteen-year-old Joel Courtney had only ever acted in a few school plays before when he scored the lead role in director J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated movie "Super 8" (on DVD & Blu-ray Tuesday).

Looks like Courtney won't be hoofing it to commercial auditions in his home state of Idaho anymore. In his film debut he plays Joe Lamb, a Midwestern boy who, grieving the loss of his mother, devotes his time to helping his friends make a Super 8 zombie movie. "His dad, being the town deputy, is never really around," explains Courtney. "So, Joe finds his only comfort with his friends. His dad wants him to be a regular kid and play baseball, but Joe just wants to make movies."

After the kids witness a mysterious train crash, strange things start occurring in their small town. Courtney calls the film "a total adrenaline rush," and even though he’s now...

50/50 Interview: Will Reiser Brings His Real Life Story to the Screen
Will Reiser, along with his good friend Seth Rogen, lived the story of 50/50. In fact, the film is a slightly fictionalized version of what Reiser went through when he came an inch of his life in a battle from cancer in his mid-20s. At Rogen’s urging, Reiser put pen to paper to craft a story of how two friends bound together to fight a friend’s cancer ultimately all coming out the other side better people, friends and frankly, filmmakers.

Reiser and Rogen began their lifelong friendship when both worked on Da Ali G Show starring Sasha Baron Cohen. It is his personal journey from cancer survivor to crafter of one of the best films of 2011 in 50/50 that is the pure essence of an inspiring story. Capturing a fictionalized and often funny take on one’s life and death battle takes talent. To audiences’ benefits, 50/50 is funny, tragic,...

'The Avengers' Shooting, 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance' And 'Conan' In Today's Twitter Report
Labor Day weekend has arrived, and most of the creators in our feed seem to have been ramping up their output in anticipation. Kevin Colden, meanwhile, is hoping to catch a glimpse of "The Avengers" filming in New York over the three-day holiday.

Elsewhere, Gail Simone opened up to the idea of seeing "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance," and Jimmy Palmiotti offered some thoughts up for anyone going to see "Conan." All of that, along with some more George Lucas reactions and Rick Remender's brilliant response to his haters made our favorite tweets list of the morning.

Wonder Woman Becomes Lady Jaye: Adrianne Palicki Joins G.I. Joe Sequel
Lady Jaye Breyer P'Orridge in The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye (2011)
Jon M. Chu and the producers of G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes keep expanding the cast of the Joe sequel.  They've retained a few actors from the first film: Channing Tatum, Ray Park and Byung Hun-lee, and have roped in a couple of significant new cast members, notably [1] Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock. RZA is on board, too, and now Adrianne Palicki from Friday Night Lights, who got some good notes for her work in the Wonder Woman pilot that NBC decided to can, will play the female lead: Lady Jaye. Also in the cast are D.J. Cotrona as Flint [2] and Elodie Yung as Jinx [3]. We don't know a lot about the story, and there isn't even too much to extrapolate based on the character set that we have so far. Here's the rundown on Adrianne Palicki's character, however: Lady Jaye is the G.I. Joe Team's covert operations specialist.
