"You don't have to be your mother. You get to define you, mama." Film Movement has debuted an official trailer for an indie dramedy titled Queen of Glory, featuring actress Nana Mensah who writes, directs, and stars in this film. It first premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival last year, and also played at tons of other fests including Melbourne, Reykjavik, Vancouver, Hamptons, London, Warsaw, and San Diego. Queen of Glory is a "tightly-conceived, witty and compassionate love letter to the Bronx" that's at once a view into a tight-knit community, and an intensely relatable drama-comedy for anyone with a family. It looks quite good and especially authentic. Ghanaian-American Sarah is set to abandon her Ivy League doctoral program to follow her married lover across the country, until she must take over running a small Christian bookstore in the Bronx. Nana Mensah stars with Meeko Gattuso, Russell G. Jones, Oberon K.A. Adjepong,...

CBS has given a series order to Tommy, a police drama starring Emmy winner Edie Falco. The project hails from Homicide creator Paul Attanasio, Amblin Television and CBS TV Studios.
Tommy had been the last CBS pilot in serious contention at CBS. The network already picked up dramas Evil, FBI: Most Wanted and All Rise and comedies Bob Hearts Abishola, Broke, Carol’s Second Act and The Unicorn.
CBS is not specifying whether series are for fall or midseason, but I hear Tommy is earmarked for midseason to accommodate Falco’s schedule. The series is currently searching for a showrunner.
This is the second pilot by Attanasio with Amblin TV and CBS TV Studios to go to series at CBS, following Bull, which was just renewed for a fourth season. (Amblin TV ended its involvement in that series in the wake of the sexual harassment controversy involving series star Michael Weatherly.

Exclusive: Russell G. Jones (The Americans) and Olivia Lucy Phillip (Frozen) are set as series regulars opposite Edie Falco and Michael Chernus in CBS drama pilot Tommy (fka Nancy), from the Bull team of co-creator Paul Attanasio and producer Amblin TV.
In Tommy, written by Attanasio and directed by Kate Dennis, Falco plays the title character, a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female Chief of Police for Los Angeles and uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to navigate the social, political and national-security issues that converge with enforcing the law.
Jones will play Looper. Phlegmatic but sharp as a tack, Looper is the Chief of Staff, whose job is to keep the trains running while the new Chief of Police performs the political aspects of the job. Part of Tommy’s inner team, Looper proves to be instinctual and insightful, a good cop with good instincts...

"Anyone can fall for scams..." Vertical Entertainment has debuted the official trailer for an indie drama titled Nigerian Prince, which first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. Made by a New York-based Nigerian-American filmmaker, the film tells the story of a Nigerian-American teenager who is sent back to Nigeria indefinitely by his mother. There he joins forces with a dangerous internet scammer in order to figure out how to return to the United States. Antonio J Bell stars as Eze, along with Chinaza Uche, Tina Mba, Bimbo Manuel, Ebbe Bassey, Rita Edward, Craig Stott, Dean Cameron, Omar Maskati, and Russell G. Jones. This looks like it gets extra violent and way more intensely thrilling than it seems at the start. I'm definitely curious about this, looks like a well-made indie film. Take a look below. Here's the first official trailer for Faraday Okoro's Nigerian Prince, direct...

Oscar and Emmy nominee Lena Olin will guest-star on an episode of "Law & Order: Svu" later this season.
Olin will play the attorney for a billionaire (Richard Burgi of "Desperate Housewives") who becomes entangled in a kidnapping case in the episode, NBC says. Russell G. Jones, who has appeared on the other "L&O" series in the past, will also guest as Burgi's head of security, who discovers a young woman has been abducted from his building.
The episode, titled "Confidential," is scheduled to air in February.
"Ever since I first saw Lena Olin in 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being,' I've been a huge admirer of her work," "Svu" executive producer Neal Baer says. "To have her guest on 'Svu' in this intense role is what makes my job so gratifying."
Olin earned an Emmy nomination in 2003 for "Alias" and an Oscar nod in 1989 for "Enemies, a Love Story.
