- Janet Jacme was born on October 22, 1967 in Chicago, Illinois. Jacme moved to Los Angeles, California at age seventeen and worked as a hairdresser prior to starting out in the adult entertainment industry as a stripper. Janet first met her frequent co-star Julian St. Jox at a nightclub and began performing in explicit hardcore fare in the early 1990's. Jacme founded her own production company called Janet Jacme Enterprises in 2005. Moreover, Janet was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame in 2006; she has the distinction of being the third black woman to be inducted into said Hall of Fame after Jeannie Pepper and her friend Heather Hunter. Her porn pseudonym is not only a tribute to Janet Jackson, but also a play on the sexually suggestive expression "jack me." In addition, Jacme rates as one of the few black performers to eke out a successful career in the MILF porn genre.- IMDb Mini Biography By: woodyanders
- Most frequently works with her lover Julian St. Jox.
- [about her early porn career] I only did movies with Black men my first year because that's what I was used to [laughs]. I really didn't see the white side of porn for a while. And then they started calling me. There was one white boy who rocked my world, so that's when I figured, "This is not bad." But the white girls wanted to get more money for having sex with a Black dude than they would get for a normal scene. That was pretty much the first thing that made me go, "Wow, that's pretty damn racist." Of course I saw the unequal pay between whites and Blacks. I realized I couldn't get a contract with certain companies because I was Black. I didn't have that certain exotic look that they wanted.
- I don't like it when prejudice comes into a business, especially when you're doing something as "out there" as pornography. Take features with titles like Buttman -- there are no black women ... I give a good performance in every video, and everyone tells me that, "You are a good actress, all your scenes are so hot." I would like one chance to be on a Vivid box cover, to just see how terrible sales would be ... None of my fans are picking up Vivid boxes because it's not what they want to see.
- Stay true to yourself. You can get lost in this industry. There are a lot of temptations that could rob you of your health, your money, and your sanity. It's best to try to surround yourself with positive people, in and out of the industry. Have some "real world" around you at all times.
- [on the biggest misconception about women in porn] That we always want to fuck. Why is it that I get two gazillion e-mails from guys going, "Janet, I'll pay you $350 for a date." It doesn't work like that, dude. I'm not a whore. I have sex for a living, on set, in films to make money. I think there's a difference. And I guess people think we always want to fuck. No. I have my bad days like anyone else. And really, porn stars don't fuck as much as some of the girls do in real life. Some of them get a lot more than we do.
