While we wait to find out if Universal is bringing back “Chucky” for Season 4, Syfy has announced this week that they’re bringing the comic book Revival to the small screen.
Deadline reports today that Syfy has given a series order to the small screen adaptation, with the Revival television series set to premiere on the network sometime in 2025.
“Revival is set on one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin when the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the “revived” appear and act just like they once were. When local Officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.”

Syfy has given a series order to Revival, a drama based on the comic book series of the same name, for a 2025 debut. The announcement was part of Syfy’s upcoming slate reveal ahead of the NBCU upfront presentation Monday.
It also included Reginald the Vampire, starring Jacob Batalon, whose second season premiered May 8, and The Ark, whose second season will follow this summer.
Not mentioned in the release are the two high-end, homegrown, UCP-produced Syfy scripted series, Chucky, which it shares with USA Network, and Resident Alien. While Part 2 of Chucky‘s third season just ended its run, the future of Resident Alien is in serious limbo.
As Deadline reported exclusively earlier this week, there are talks about the sci-fi series starring Alan Tudyk moving from Syfy to NBCU cable sibling USA Network, with a return to Syfy for Season 4 unlikely.

If you're like us, the broadcast shows are not hitting their marks.
They're beyond formulaic (everyone's out to tear down Firehouse 51 on Chicago Fire? Give us a break already) and have lost their pizazz.
Watching TV barely cracks our faces with a smile.
But the streamer that is part of our return to classic TV (Dark Shadows? Check! Family? Check! Columbo? Check!), Tubi, has a new original series on the way starring Gilmore Girls and Parenthood star Lauren Graham.
Neither show is on Tubi, so why not create one to bring the talented actress into their world?
That's what Tubi is doing as the Fox Corporation's ad-supported VOD service announced today that it has greenlit the new original comedy series The Z Suite starring Graham.

Lauren Graham Stars In ‘The Z-Suite’ Comedy Ordered By Tubi As Its First In-House Live-Action Series
Exclusive: Fox Corporation’s Tubi has greenlighted The Z-Suite, a comedy series starring and executive produced by Lauren Graham. The multi-generational workplace comedy, from writer, executive producer and showrunner Katie O’Brien, is AVOD service’s first homegrown live-action original series.
The Z-Suite is set at a boutique New York ad agency where generational divides see the established C-Suite and rising Gen Z employees collide. After a company decision spirals out of control, the agency’s reigning executives are pushed out and the Z-Suite employees are suddenly put in charge, ultimately testing both generations’ skills and patience.
Graham plays Monica Frazier, an advertising agency mogul who is fired as CEO and finds herself clawing her way back into the company she helped build.

Updated: Netflix has renewed Ginny & Georgia, starring Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry, for a third and fourth season. Sarah Glinski (Degrassi: The Next Generation) has been named showrunner for the upcoming seasons. She replaces Debra J. Fisher, who served as showrunner on the first two seasons.
Given Ginny & Georgia’s very strong performance and very appealing economics, the two-season order is not a surprise; Netflix has done it on other series with similar pedigree, including Virgin River.
What is surprising was the four-month wait for a series of that level of ratings success to be renewed. According to sources, the pickup was done awhile ago but held for Netflix’s upfront.
As for the showrunner change, there had been rumors about friction between Fisher and Ginny & Georgia creator Sarah Lampert. By April, there was speculation that Fisher would be departing the series.

The show’s name is Ginny & Georgia, so it clearly wasn’t going to keep the mother and daughter apart for long. Following the Season 1 finale cliffhanger, in which Ginny and her little brother skipped town after she discovered that their mom had poisoned their stepfather, the Season 2 trailer features Georgia and her kids back under the same roof in Wellsbury.
Ginny is trying to live with her mom’s deadly secret while acting normal, which is proving rather difficult, and tensions rise between the two.
“I’m not normal, I’m a damaged trailer park teen mom murderer,” Georgia exclaims at one point.
While Maxine still appears mad at Ginny for hiding her relationship with her twin brother from her, Ginny and Marcus’ romance is back on despite the “mistake” comment he made in the Season 1 finale.
“You make sense to me,” Marcus tells Ginny but also adds, a little ominously,...

The second season of Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia starring Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey will premiere on January 5, 2023. Series creator/executive producer Sarah Lampert told Netflix’s Tudum that fans can expect the new season to pick up just a few weeks after season one left off.
“We spent all of season one breaking these characters down and putting them in certain places,” explained Lampert. “So, we wanted to honor that by picking up season two just two weeks later. We jumped right back into where we emotionally left everyone at the end of season one.”
The premiere date announcement was accompanied by a batch of photos from the 10-episode second season.

Netflix has set January 5 for the Season 2 premiere of Ginny & Georgia, starring Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry. The streamer also released some first-look photos of the upcoming season, which shed some light on what happens after the Season 1 finale cliffhanger that saw Ginny and her little brother on a motorcycle, leaving town after she discovers that her mom had poisoned her stepfather.
The photos (you can launch the gallery above), indicate that Ginny (Gentry) and her brother return home. The expectation was that they fled to Ginny’s father Zion in Boston, which still could be the case as a photo has Zion confronting his ex in the family kitchen. Ginny also is back with her friends at school and shares a moment with her on-again off-again love interest Marcus, while Georgia (Howey) is seen embracing her fiancé Paul.

Netflix debuted a trailer for Season 4 of “Cobra Kai,” which premieres on Dec. 31.
The series takes place more than 30 years after the events of the 1984 film “The Karate Kid,” which culminated in Daniel Larusso’s (Ralph Macchio) triumph against Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) at the All Valley Karate Tournament. Their rivalry lasts throughout the decades, but in Season 4, Daniel’s Miyagi-Do and Johnny’s Eagle Fang dojos join forces to take down the Cobra Kai dojo led by their enemy John Kreese (Martin Kove) at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament.
“If Johnny and I can actually work together and we win, Cobra Kai will be out of business,” Daniel says to his wife Amanda (Courtney Henggeler) in the trailer, which you can watch below.
“You gotta take things to the next level,” Johnny says to his students. “Eagles do not respond. They swoop down and take whatever they want.

Exclusive: Syfy‘s Astrid and Lilly Save the World has found its leads in Jana Morrison and newcomer Samantha Maureen Aucoin.
Astrid is described as bold and unfiltered with a knack for “sciencey” gadgets. Her friendship with Lilly proves that being classically unpopular is actually “pretty damn cool.”
Lilly is sweet-natured and intuitive with a passion for investigative photography.
“This world isn’t just made up of one type of person and representation on screen matters,” said creators Noelle Stehman and Betsy Van Stone. “Astrid and Lilly will hopefully help remind us that heroes come from all walks of life. There’s an effervescent charm to Jana and Samantha that immediately captivated us, and their chemistry was undeniable. We can’t wait to see these talented actors take on the roles of Astrid and Lilly to save the world!”

While the concept of new scripted shows may already feel like a bygone idea in this era of pandemic-frozen productions, Syfy is actually moving forward with one such offering in The Surrealtor. Moreover, the main cast of the series has been officially announced, with a headliner familiar to viewers of the channel in Wynonna Earp’s Tim Rozon.
The Surrealtor, which landed a 10-episode series order back in February—alongside its touted Day of the Dead series—signals momentum with the announcement of its main cast players. The series puts a fixer-upper spin on the Ghostbusters paranormal exterminator dynamic, showcasing the exploits of realtor Nick Roman (Rozon), who leads an elite team who specialize in dealing with property-polluting poltergeists, fixing the things that go bump in the night so that deals can be closed, all while struggling with personal demons of their own.

Vault Comics’ space-set action title, Vagrant Queen, is getting a TV adaptation, which Syfy has ordered to series.
Vagrant Queen is bound for live-action glory. Pollak will play Jack Adams, aka “Trader Jack,” the Detroit Red Wings General Manager. Reilly takes on the role of Patricia Morey, who became first Sawchuk’s girlfriend, then wife.
The story follows Swchuck’s charracter being haunted by the void left from his troubled childhood, which he tried to fill with cheering crowds. The story will explore Sawchuk’s youth in Winnipeg to Detroit, Boston, Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York between 1950 and 1970 — during which he recorded 103 shutouts and 400 stitches to his face.

IFC Films has acquired Us rights to writer/director Ruba Nadda's survival thriller "October Gale." The film world-premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, where it played well with a hometown crowd. But clearly IFC believes that this tense two-hander has commercial potential. "October Gale" stars an excellent Patricia Clarkson as a wealthy doctor marooned alone on her island home during a raging storm with a man (Scott Speedman) she has rescued from the water who could be a killer. Also starring Tim Roth and Callum Keith Rennie, this is Nadda's second collaboration with Clarkson, who starred in her 2009 romance "Cairo Time." "October Gale" was produced by Blue Ice Pictures’ Daniel Iron. The film was executive produced by Kirk D'Amico, Christine Vachon, Emily Alden, Lance Samuels, Steven Silver and Neil Tabatznik. A release date is forthcoming.

If the out of synch supposed “live” telecast wasn’t bad enough (all awards including the winning film were announced almost one hour prior to on twittersphere), the show’s producers gave Gabrielle winning producers Luc Déry and Kim McCraw the equivalent of end of toilette paper roll in terms of time.

We’ve learned two more casting details for Ruba Nadda‘s Inescapable, as THR reports Saad Siddiqui and Oded Fehr have joined Maria Tomei, Joshua Jackson and Alexander Siddig for the romance drama.
Siddig is set to portray a “Syrian expatriate whose journalist daughter goes missing in Damascus.” He enlists his former love (Tomei) as well as an embassy official (Jackson), who may end up having his own agenda. Nadda recently directed the 2009 film Cairo Time, which also starred Siddig. Daniel Iron and Lance Samuels are set to produce the thriller, with Luc Montpellier leading as cinematographer.
Aside from having some small roles in various TV shows over the past few years, Siddiqui hasn’t really had much exposure for bigger projects, which means that this could be a decent break for him if he ends up playing a relatively big character. And you may remember Fehr as the vindictive...

Tribeca Film has acquired Us rights to The Bang Bang Club, a gripping drama based on the incredible lives of a group of young photojournalists whose graphic images drew the world’s attention to South Africa during the last stages of apartheid while enduring the stresses, tensions, and moral dilemmas of working in situations of extreme conflict.
The Bang Bang Club was the name given to four young photographers, Greg Marinovich, Kevin Carter, Ken Oosterbroek and Joao Silva, whose photographs captured the final bloody days of white rule in South Africa and the final demise of apartheid. Toronto -- Ryan Phillippe, Malin Akerman and Taylor Kitsch are set to headline director Steven Silver's indie drama "The Bang Bang Club."
The Canada/South Africa co-production about four young combat photographers capturing the final days of apartheid is being produced by Daniel Iron of Toronto-based Foundry Films and Lance Samuels and Adam Friedlander of Out of Africa Inc.
Phillippe will play Greg Marinovich, a photographer who, along with fellow cameraman Joao Silva, earned Pulitzers for their photos of the final bloody days of white rule in South Africa, and penned the book on which the film is based.
The true-life story of the four photographers, who became known as the Bang Bang Club, has an element of tragedy as one of them, Ken Oosterbroek, was killed by stray bullets in 1994 while in a battle zone, while another, Kevin Carter, committed suicide that same year.
