Exclusive: Brian Volk-Weiss’ Nacelle Company on Wednesday announced Billy Corgan’s Adventures in Carnyland, an eight-episode unscripted series that’s set to premiere on The CW app and cwtv.com on May 14th.
Directed by Volk-Weis and Ian Roumain, the series pulls back the curtain on how the legendary frontman of alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins takes on the world. When he isn’t churning out albums and touring the world with his band, Corgan works as a wrestling promoter through his storied National Wrestling Alliance, which he intends to restore to its former glory. As if being a rock star navigating the demanding politics of running both a band (Pumpkinworld) and a group of eccentric wrestlers (Carnyland) isn’t tricky enough, he’s also a father of two — and he’s planning a wedding to his longtime partner, Chloe Mendel. Can he possibly keep all these balls in the air?...

An animated video for Mark Knopfler’s all-star charity single “Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)” – which brought together a stunning lineup of over 60 guitar gods to raise funds for Teen Cancer America and the Teenage Cancer Trust – has been released. It features the final recording of Jeff Beck along with contributions by Bruce Springsteen, David Gilmour, Slash, Ronnie Wood, Joan Jett, Eric Clapton, Pete Townshend, and Sting.
The song came out a week ago, but it was difficult to discern who was playing what part throughout the ten-minute song.

It’s easy to draw a lot of conclusions from the title of Ozzy Osbourne’s new single with friend Billy Morrison, “Crack Cocaine,” without listening to it. But the singer says it’s more nuanced than that. “The song’s not about crack cocaine,” the Prince of Darkness tells Rolling Stone on a call from his L.A. home. “It’s about being in love with a chick. But it’s kind of what you might think Ozzy Osbourne would do. It’s, like, the two loves in my life: drugs and women.

Mark Knopfler has teamed up with a host of fellow guitar legends to record a version of his song “Going Home (Theme from Local Hero)” to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.
The Dire Straits frontman tapped Eric Clapton, Slash (Guns N’ Roses), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Brian May (Queen), Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Pete Townshend (The Who), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Bruce Springsteen, Ronnie Wood (The Rolling Stones), Joan Jett, and many more, forming what he has dubbed “Mark Knopfler’s Guitar Heroes.” Notably, the star-studded version opens with the final recorded guitar track by the late Jeff Beck.
Knopfler’s longtime collaborator Guy Fletcher handled the production of the track, which might be the greatest assemblage of guitar talent to co-exist on a single song. The Sgt. Pepper‘s-style artwork was created by Sir Peter Blake.

A film chronicling the relationship between Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne is in the works.
A biopic about Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne is still in the works.
The as-yet-untitled film was formally announced in October 2021, when it was confirmed that both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s music will feature.
Sony Pictures and Polygram are behind the project, which will focus on a twenty year period between 1979 and 1999. Lee Hall, who won huge acclaim for his screenplay for Elton John biopic Rocketman in 2018, will write the script.
Sharon and Jack Osbourne revealed the update on their podcast The Osbournes (as picked up by Planet Rock), where Ozzy, in typically unabashed style, commented on the slow progress of the film, saying “By the time it’s eventually filmed, I’ll be dead! I wanna be alive to f—ing see it”.

A newly discovered fossil of a species of Jurassic worm has been named after shock-rock legend Alice Cooper.
Scientists have dubbed the 190-million-year-old marine worm fossil “Serpula alicecooperi” after it was discovered by amateur geologist Mette Hoftstedt on the Danish isle of Bornholm.
It was then studied by researchers Arden Basforth from the Natural History Museum of Denmark, Tomas Koči from the Natural History Museum in Prague, and Jesper Milàn and Sten Lennart Jakobsen from Geomuseum Faxe in Denmark. Hailing from the Early Jurassic period, the species of the fossil is described as a marine worm with a crown of tentacles and a protective tube-like shell in which to hide avoid predators.
“When we studied the fossil, it quickly became clear that it was a new and unknown species of serpulid worm we were dealing with,” said Milàn [via Louder].

Ozzy Osbourne is already a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer as a member of Black Sabbath, and now has a chance to be inducted again as a solo artist. The metal icon says he’s “deeply honored” to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2024.
Following the announcement of the 2024 nominees on Saturday morning (February 10th), Ozzy took to Instagram to express his gratitude:
“I’m deeply honored to receive this news from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined. Ozzy Osbourne is done touring, confirmed his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne, who also revealed that the metal legend plans on playing two hometown shows in Birmingham, England, to “say goodbye” to his fans.
Sharon made the declaration during her “Cut the Crap” spoken-word tour stop in London on Sunday night (January 21st). “He won’t tour again but we are planning on doing two more shows to say goodbye as he feels like, ‘I have never said goodbye to my fans and I want to say goodbye properly’,” stated Sharon (as transcribed by Rolling Stone UK).
She went on to say that the two shows would take place his hometown of Birmingham, presumably the soccer stadium Villa Park. “We will do it in Aston Villa where Ozzy is from,” Sharon revealed.
Sharon concluded, “His voice is still absolutely perfect. And all the time he has been off he still...

As far as guitarists are concerned, it doesn’t get much more legendary than Queen’s Brian May and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi. The two icons come together in a new video as they perform the Sabbath classic “Paranoid.”
The pairing of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers comes courtesy of the Sky Arts documentary series Greatest Guitar Riffs. The UK television channel premiered the clip via Guitar World, and it shows the guitar masters discussing the first time they met in the early ’70s, with Iommi declaring that they’ve been “best friends ever since.”
When May asks Iommi where all his great riffs come from, the Sabbath legend responds, “I think it’s within. Normally, we’d jam around and play something, and Ozzy [Osbourne] would go, ‘What the fuck’s that?’ But it just feels right.”
From there, the two go into a specific discussion about “Paranoid,...

Black Sabbath founders Tony Iommi and Bill Ward each took to social media to give fans and followers an end-of-year update, and it turns out both are in the studio working on separate projects.
Iommi shared a short video on Facebook, recapping his 2023 and dropping some hints of what we can expect from the Sabbath guitarist in 2024.
While he didn’t offer any specifics, Iommi has been “working in the studio” and “writing and doing plenty of stuff,” presumably for his previously mentioned solo LP.
“It’s sounding really good,” he said. “I’m very happy with it. I might use some orchestration, I might not. So we’ll see how it goes.”
Iommi also shared an update on the long-awaited Tony Martin-era Black Sabbath box set, which Iommi teased in his year-end message last year. The collection is now expected to drop in a May after a period of delay.

Ozzy Osbourne has called out his longtime Black Sabbath bandmate Geezer Butler for not checking in on him while he was dealing with a series of health issues in recent years. However, the bassist has responded by saying he made multiple attempts to send Osbourne “get well” messages.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone UK, Osbourne expressed frustration at Butler for the apparent radio silence. Ozzy also stated that their friendship has deteriorated in part because of a feud between his wife/manager Sharon Osbourne and Geezer’s wife/manager Gloria Butler.
“[Black Sabbath guitarist] Tony Iommi has been so supportive of me since my illness,” said Osbourne, adding: “Geezer Butler hasn’t given me one fucking phone call. Not one fucking call. When his son was fucking born, I phoned him every fucking night even though we were at war with each other, Black Sabbath and me [following Ozzy’s exit in 1979]. I thought, ‘Fuck it,...

Ozzy Osbourne acknowledges he may never take the stage again after years of medical issues — including a recent spinal surgery that also uncovered a tumor — in a new interview with Rolling Stone UK.
The singer, named the first-ever Rolling Stone UK Awards icon in a new cover story, talked about his fourth spinal surgery, aimed at remedying the damage from a 2019 fall that dislodged the metal rods from a previous surgery.
“It’s really knocked me about,” Osbourne said of the procedure. “The second surgery went drastically wrong and virtually left me crippled.

Tony Iommi made a surprise appearance during the premiere performance of a new Black Sabbath ballet Saturday night (September 23rd) at The Hippodrome Theatre in the band’s hometown of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The ballet was commissioned by Birmingham Royal Ballet’s director Carlos Acosta and Ballet Now, and features eight re-orchestrated renditions of iconic Black Sabbath songs, as well as new compositions inspired by the heavy metal pioneers.
Iommi had been present for some of rehearsals for the ballet and made his cameo during the final number, playing guitar on “Paranoid.” The guitarist then took a bow with the cast and crew at the conclusion of the performance.
Other notable names in attendance for the premiere were Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, Sharon Osbourne, Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, and Electric Light Orchestra drummer Bev Bevan (who served as the touring drummer for Sabbath from 1983 to 1984 and played drums on...

Rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires — featuring Johnny Depp, Alice Cooper, and Joe Perry — played a UK date on Tuesday night (July 11th) in Birmingham, home of heavy metal legends Black Sabbath.
Since they were in the neighborhood, the Vampires invited none other than legendary Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi onstage for an encore performance of “Paranoid.”
Given the wealth of talent involved, it’s a rousing rendition of the classic song with Cooper commanding lead vocals. Iommi even got a chance to rip through the song’s guitar solo, much to the excitement of the Birmingham crowd.
It’s certainly good to see the Sabbath guitarist back onstage and having a good time. In a recent interview, Iommi said he declined Black Sabbath’s invitation to the Power Trip festival and that his days of extensive touring were over.

For as long as there’s been classic rock, there have been musicians more than willing to sing about their vices. Namely sex, booze, and drugs. As with so many other things they did, The Beatles turned songs about smoking pot into mainstream successes. Let’s look at their tune “Got to Get You Into My Life” and six more of the best classic rock songs about weed.
1. ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’ Artist: The Beatles
The Fab Four incorporated marijuana into their creative process soon after Bob Dylan got them high and pranked them in 1964. Two years later, Paul McCartney wrote an ode to pot, “Got to Get You Into My Life,” disguised as a boy-girl love song. Which it was, if the boy was McCartney and the girl was nicknamed Mary Jane. Paul’s song appeared on The Beatles’ 1966 album Revolver, which many music fans considered the first psychedelic record.

Tony Iommi has revealed that Black Sabbath were approached to play a reunion set at the inaugural Power Trip festival, but he turned the offer down.

Speaking on Sirius Xm’s Trunk Nation, Iommi confirmed that Black Sabbath were considered for the fest, but the guitarist shot down the idea himself, mainly due to uncertainties concerning the health of the original lineup members, including Ozzy. During the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, attendees became enamored with the 33-foot-tall mechanical bull sculpture that stole the show during the opening ceremonies. Now, thousands have voted to have the bull named after Ozzy Osbourne.
The bull was initially scheduled to be dismantled following the games. But it was such a crowd pleaser, a petition to keep the sculpture intact generated over 10,000 signatures, and now the bull will stand under the atrium of the Birmingham New Street railway station.
After it was announced that the sculpture would live on, a public vote was held to give it a formal name. Over 28,000 votes were cast, with “Ozzy” sweeping over 70 percent of the vote.
It’s a fitting choice considering the singer was raised in the UK city and will forever be linked to the 2022 games after making a rare live appearance alongside Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi to perform “Paranoid” during the closing ceremonies.

Rock’n’roll musicians have a habit of thinking of themselves like secular gods, but the truth is they’re not infallible. No matter how successful a band may or may not have been in the past, there’s never any guarantee their next record will live up to the heights they’ve previously scaled. Sometimes, everything that once went right just all goes wrong.
There are often extenuating circumstances, of course. Band members may leave due to death, drugs or just good old-fashioned “musical differences”, or an ambitious new direction may turn out to be more like a swerve into oncoming traffic.
Whatever the cause, the fact remains that just because an album has the name of a classic band slapped across the cover, it doesn’t necessarily follow that the album itself will be a classic.

Ozzy Osbourne is infamous for his rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. He partied hard and rocked out with Black Sabbath on tour for years. However, even the guys in the band eventually had enough. Osbourne was actually fired from Black Sabbath for his hard-partying ways.

Osbourne linked up with the men that would make up Black Sabbath in 1967. But it took a few years for them to land on the name and lineup. Their debut album, Black Sabbath, and its follow-up, Paranoid, were both released in 1970 and the band quickly became stars.
Black Sabbath was incredibly prolific, releasing six albums in just five years. Some of their hit singles include “Paranoid,” “Iron Man,” “War Pigs/Luke’s Wall,” and “Children of the Grave.

Geezer Butler, the bassist who cofounded Black Sabbath and wrote the majority of the band’s lyrics on their classic albums, will release his autobiography this summer. Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath — and Beyond will chronicle his childhood in post-war Birmingham, England, the formation of Black Sabbath, and the stories behind “War Pigs,” “Paranoid,” “Iron Man,” and several other of the band’s biggest hits. Founding Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler is set to release his autobiography, Into the Void: From Birth to Black Sabbath — and Beyond, on June 6th via the HarperCollins imprint Dey Street Books.
The book will follow both Butler’s personal life as well as tell his side of the Black Sabbath story. This includes his working-class upbringing in Birmingham, the band’s “beginnings as a scrappy blues quartet,” and the internal struggles that led to Black Sabbath’s many lineup changes over the years.
“A rollicking, effusive, and candid memoir by the heavy metal musician and founding member of Black Sabbath,” reads the publisher’s thumbnail description, “covering his years as the band’s bassist and main lyricist through his later-career projects, and detailing how one of rock’s most influential bands formed and prevailed.”

The first batch of winners at the 2023 Grammy Awards has been announced! The show is far from over, and Beyoncé has already become the most-awarded artist in the Recording Academy's history. Other performers are also cleaning up with exciting wins. This year's main event is, once again, hosted by Trevor Noah - who served as the Mc in 2021 and 2022 - who, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, teased that it'll be "the most star-studded room the Grammys has been for many, many years."
The 2023 Grammy nominee pool was stacked with heavy-hitting artists. On Nov. 15, the Recording Academy revealed the 2023 nominations across all 91 categories, some of which were presented by past Grammy winners like Olivia Rodrigo, John Legend, and Machine Gun Kelly.

Ozzy Osbourne has claimed that he and his wife Sharon had to enlist “armed guards” after a backlash against Sharon surrounding her talk show exit.
Sharon Osbourne was removed from her CBS chat show The Talk following a racism row, in which she defended Piers Morgan over his criticism of Meghan Markle.
In August, the couple announced that they would move back to the UK after 20 years in LA due to a number of recent shootings.
“Everything’s f****** ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings,” Osborne told The Observer in August.
“And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert … It’s f****** crazy. And I don’t want to die in America. I don’t want to be buried in f****** Forest Lawn,” he added.

Ozzy Osbourne Once Picketed His Own Gig and 12 Other Things We Learned Hanging out With the Iron Man
Ozzy Osbourne is a natural storyteller. All you have to do is mention Eric Clapton, Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, his Black Sabbath bandmate Tony Iommi, or any of the other guests on his new solo album, Patient Number 9, and he usually has a hilarious memory at the ready. In interviews for Rolling Stone’s recent deep profile on Osbourne and his health struggles, he shared many funny and revealing tales about his friends and himself. Here’s what we couldn’t fit in that story.
1. Ozzy has strong opinions about what makes music “heavy.

As Soon As a pair of silver vans arrive at the VIP entrance of Birmingham, England’s Alexander Stadium, the whispers start. “Is that Sharon Osbourne?” a squinting security guard asks her friend.
“I think so,” the other guard says. “Does that mean … ?”
The drivers keep security in the dark — literally — by turning off their dome lights as they wait for Prince Edward to finish a speech for the closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games, a multisport event similar to the Olympics that took place in early August. The vans creep toward the stage.

“I will get back on stage if it f***ing kills me,” bat sommelier of legend Ozzy Osbourne told The Independent recently. Aged 73, and recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Osbourne has rediscovered the determination of the devil. Patient No 9 is his second album in as many years and, like his 2020 comeback album Ordinary Man (released seven years after the Black Sabbath reunion album 13 and a decade on from his previous solo record), it’s a rejuvenated and starry proposition.
While Ordinary Man featured collaborations with Elton John, Post Malone, Tom Morello, Charlie Puth, Travis Scott and most of Guns N’ Roses, Patient No 9 is a roll-call of more hardcore heroes: alongside the returning Roses are Josh Homme, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and various members of Jane’s Addiction, Metallica, Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers. The legendary Ozzy Osbourne feels remorse for not making “more varied” music. While he is proud of the way Black Sabbath made heavy metal “big”, the rockstar said that he would have liked to have explored outside of the genre and produced some songs that were less “aggressive”, reports aceshowbiz.com.
“You know what, I would have liked to have been a little more varied,” he told The Sun newspaper when asked if he wished he had ever moved away from heavy metal.
“Black Sabbath music is very aggressive even if some of it is foot-tapping.”
“But we fought the f****** world to make it big. But mind you, it’s a good thing we didn’t get our royalties when we were 23 because I would have f***** myself into another planet.”
The 73-year-old singer said that there are some collaborations he’d loved to have been able to secure.

On Post Malone’s darker Hollywood’s Bleeding LP, he welcomes Ozzy Osbourne on one of the album’s standouts, “Take What You Want,” and in turn a contemporary legend in the making meets a rock & roll god. Osbourne’s signature vocals open the track with an automatic timelessness only a rock icon like him can achieve. For someone like Malone, getting him on a track is one thing, but getting to finally meet the guy was “absolutely fucking mind-blowing.”

Ozzy Osbourne is back. The rocker, 73, returned to the stage Aug. 8 after undergoing what his wife Sharon Osbourne described as a "very major operation" nearly two months ago. Ozzy was part of the grand finale for 2022 Commonwealth Games closing ceremonies held at Alexander Stadium in his hometown of Birmingham, England. The musician had a Black Sabbath reunion with guitarist Tony Iommi, and the former bandmates played their 1970's hit "Paranoid." Of course, his family members were thrilled to see him doing what he loves again. "No stopping him," his son Jack Osbourne wrote on Instagram Stories. Added Sharon, "He' back." While this marked...
