Alfred Hürmer Born 1949 in Munich. Since 1960 he lived in Paris and
after his studies at the INSAS in Brussels Alfred Hürmer founded his
first production company in 1969 in Switzerland together with Patrice
Leconte, Bruno Nuytten and Luc Béraud. In the 70s he worked in Germany
as director of photography among others with Alexander Kluge, Edgar
Reitz and Ula Stöckl. He worked from 1980 as producer in his production
companies (alert Film, Integral Film, Diana Film). In this function, he
has produced among others films of Monto Armendarix, Marcel Carné;,
Helmut Dietl, Benoît Jacquôt, Erwin Leiser, Benoit Lamy, Joaquim
Leitao, Dusan Makavejev, Jeanine Meerapfel, Helma Sanders-Brahms, Peter
Woditsch, Dagmar Wagner, Jaco van Dormael, Philippe Claudel. His films
participated in various worldwide Film Festivals (e.g. Jerusalem,
Toronto, Montreal, Melbourne, Sydney, New York, Seattle, San Francisco,
Tokyo, London) and were prizewinners (e.g. Bundesfilmpreis 1992, 1996,
FIPRESCI Prize International Film Festival Berlin 1993, Cannes
Competition 1995, San Sebastian Competition 1996, Venice Festival
Competition 1997, 2001,2004,2009). For one and a half year's he was the
managing director of the Hamburg Film Fund in 1995/1996. Since 1999 he
is also working as an consultant for different European and American
film companies. Alfred Hürmer is member of the governing board of the
Federal Film Board (FFA), Member of the board of directors of the
German association of film producers (Verband Deutscher
Filmproduzenten) Member of the German-French Film Academy, Member of
the European film Academy, Chairman of the advisory board of German
Films (Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender) and President of the German-French
Association.
