In 2021, Pointless fans had to come to terms with the fact that change is the only constant in this crazy, crazy world when the show’s co-creator and co-host Richard Osman left to pursue other career opportunities such as being an incredibly successful crime novelist, and taking the main seat on his own game show Richard Osman’s House of Games.
Good for Richard Osman, it all seems to be very going well for him. But for Pointless?
Taking its cue from satirical current affairs show Have I Got News For You?, which settled on a revolving carousel of guest hosts when its regular host Angus Deayton was forced to step down instead of plumping for a permanent chair, Pointless has welcomed a series of co-hosts in the past couple of years.
First up were Sally Lindsay, Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne, Alex Brooker, Konnie Huq and Ed Gamble. Next came Andi Oliver,...

It takes many people to fill Richard Osman’s shoes, and not just because he wears a size 14. Back in April 2021, the TV presenter, producer and novelist announced that he was leaving his co-presenter role on Pointless to focus on his hugely successful Thursday Murder Club book series and other projects. Due to the ‘stars we see in the night sky are actually hundreds of years in the past’ nature of TV broadcast, by that point, Osman was already four months out of the job. His final episode of the regular Pointless (he’ll still appear on the celebrity editions) was filmed in December 2021 and aired in July 2022, with this touching message to Alexander Armstrong.
When Pointless returned for Series 28 in September 2022, it came with a rotating clutch of new guest-hosts sitting behind Osman’s fact-checking desk. First up was Sally Lindsay, and following her were Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne,...

British audiences have been graced with a new season of The Masked Singer.
Debuting on New Year’s Day, the top-secret singing competition welcomed a new batch of 13 incognito celebrities to compete in its fourth season.
During the first episode of the competition – which sees celebrities dressed in head-to-toe costumes to conceal their identity while they perform – Knitting was the first to display her talents.
Performing her rendition of Becky Hill’s song “Remember” for the panel of judges, Knitting narrowly escaped elimination.
Among the first-round competitors were Ghost, Jellyfish, Jacket Potato, Phoenix, and duo Cat and Mouse.
Ultimately, Ghost was this season’s first elimination, later revealing his identity as former footballer Chris Kamara. Cat and Mouse were unmasked as Martin and Shirlie Kemp in episode three.
Who is Knitting?
Ahead of Knitting’s performance, her clue video showed her standing in a crafty scene as she cut scraps of paper into geometrical shapes.

Richard Osman has feigned outrage over the fact that the laptop in the Pointless studio actually works.
In April, the BBC announced that Osman had quit Pointless after almost 13 years.
The TV personality had presented the show since its very first episode in 2009 with Alexander Armstrong, with the latter now being joined by a rotating cast of co-presenters for the new series.
Coronation Street and Scott & Bailey star Sally Lindsay was the first celebrity to step into Osman’s shoes for last night’s episode (20 September), and she made use of a laptop in the studio to help her present.
Sharing an image of Lindsay using the computer, Osman – who was hardly seen going on the device during his years as host – tweeted: “Wait, the laptop Works Now????”
Lindsay later posted: “Thank you everyone (especially the legend @richardosman) for your comments and support regarding Pointless. It’s such a...

"Your Saturday night starts right here!"
Eight years ago, BBC iPlayer didn't exist, the iPhone hadn't been released and the first series of Mad Men was just hitting our screens.
Basically, it was a bloody long time ago.
And it was in 2007 that Dermot O'Leary began hosting The X Factor.
After proving himself to be the best thing (well, the only thing) about Big Brother's Little Brother, we were thrilled that he had signed up to the ITV behemoth.
Almost instantly, Dermot brought so many facets to the X Factor stage that we fell in love with. Some serious, some… not so much.
From the get go, Dermot delivered a tone and charisma to the job that is inimitable. His slight irreverence and anarchy was a welcome antidote to the often po-faced seriousness of the judges. Yes, Kelly Rowland, that means you.
What Dermot did so well was give the show a pinch of knowingness.

So it may not be the third series of Black Mirror we’re all pining for, but there will be a new Black Mirror episode airing in 2014, as announced earlier this year by Channel 4. As always, details of what the episode is are being kept under wraps – but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been a few valuable nuggets of information to chew on until it premieres on Christmas. Here’s what we know so far: It’s called White Christmas, and stars Jon Hamm That’s right: even though Jon Hamm is no stranger to British television (previously starring in A Young Doctor’s Notebook with Daniel Radcliffe), it’s still a big “get” to bring him to White Christmas, where Konnie Huq (wife and creative partner of show creator Charlie Brooker) says Hamm delivers a fantastic performance, but in a part we “don’t expect him...

The X Factor has helped launch the career of dozens of pop acts over the last decade. It has also given us Chico Time. You win some, you lose some.

Rylan was already a regular on the reality TV circuit before The X Factor (he was a runner-up in the Sky Living monstrosity Signed By Katie Price), and he was a little bit more knowing and calculated than genuinely bonkers.
However, even if those floods of tears at Nicole Scherzinger's Judges' Houses were staged, they were staged brilliantly. The perfect I'm-mad-me contestant after a decade of near misses.

Simon is back. Cheryl is back. Louis never went away in the first place. But who else could do an X Factor U-turn and try to rescue the show's faltering ratings?
If 2014 is going to be the year of the comeback on the ITV talent show, here are 6 more things that could potentially return to your autumn Saturday night TV schedule.
1. Gamu
Dumped by Cheryl for Katie 'sod it' Waissel in 2010, Gamu Nhengu's exit was, and always will be, a sore point for X Factor diehards. After being set up as a potential champion with her 'Walking on Sunshine' audition in the first show, there was a national outcry (well, we moaned about it a bit anyway) when she was axed. Gamu-gate and the hastag #bringbackGamu were born and we won't let them die until she gets a second chance.

Glorious.
3. When they make Dermot dance.
What are the odds that Dermot will be twerking by the end of this year's series?
4. The incredible showmances.
Eggnog Quigglet and The Vickers way back in series 5. I bet The Vickers still has that Vote for Eggnog t-shirt under her pillow.
Harry Styles and Caroline Flack in series 7. A romance for the ages. Very different ages.
That woman who replaced Goldie Cheung. Some guy who was in a rubbish boyband. Yeah, series 8 was a bit rubbish.
Tesco Mary always denied it, but the sexual power of Wagner must surely have been too powerful to resist back in series 7.

Sold-out performance in King Richard II to be relayed live around the world and streamed into 1,000 British schools
It's too late to book tickets to see David Tennant tackle Shakespeare's flawed and doomed King Richard II: every bookable seat for both Stratford-upon-Avon and London has already been sold, even though it doesn't open until next autumn.

Charlie Brooker has revealed that his wife Konnie Huq often comes up with some of his "best lines". The Screenwipe host praised the former Xtra Factor presenter for her "dry" sense of humour, and admitted that he sometimes steals her quotes for various TV shows. When asked if Huq helped co-write the upcoming second series of Black Mirror like its first run, he told Channel 4 News: "She was busy, yes, but she chipped in with the odd note here and there. "She's far more cynical and has a dryer sense of humour than many people realize. When I'm doing the Wipe shows she often watches the footage with me and comes out with some of the best lines. Numbered lists are nothing new to WhatCulture but never has the job of putting together one been so pleasurable for us. Spending the past weekend as valuably as any other, we drew up a list of those beautiful ladies of contemporary pop culture who are undeniably talented and hot but who don’t (usually) hog the spotlight or make it onto the Top sexy lists of FHM or others.
The task we set ourselves… to highlight the 50 sexiest woman whose faces you’ve ever never seen or if you have been fortunate enough to be previously acquainted, you’ve not forgotten them. Even if you can’t quite remember their name.
You’ll enjoy this list. It’s an eye-catcher…
50: Beth Behrs
One half of the waitresses at CBS’ uber popular show Two Broke Girls, Beth Behrs is one of the sexiest blondes on TV but she so nearly wasn’t.

The first episode of Black Mirror, Charlie Brooker’s satirical Twilight Zone inspired horror series, formed a nightmare “what if?” scenario around social media, 24 hour news channels and, ultimately, audience complicity in increasingly sadistic televised entertainment. The second episode, “15 Million Merits”, could easily be that society in the not too distant future. Set in an unspecified time and place, the episode – co-written by Brooker and wife Kanak Huq, the former Blue Peter presenter – puts us in a world that’s perhaps best described as being like what you’d imagine if Apple designed a prison.
In this future society people divide their time between watching TV in cramped private living quarters and watching TV at work – spending all day peddling exercise bikes to earn the titular merits. Olly Murs is predicting that this year’s Xtra Factor series will be much more enjoyable for viewers, because he and his co-host have been granted more access to the judging panel.
The former X Factor contestant was announced as one of the presenters on the ITV2 spinoff show earlier this summer and will be joined in front of the cameras by the beautiful Caroline Flack.
However, he claims their series will be much better than Konnie Huq’s, because last year, Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole kept their presenter at arms length.
Murs told Heat magazine:
“I keep in contact with all the judges. The behind-the-scenes of the Xtra Factor have got more close to the judges this year, we are getting more intimate than ever.”
He added:
“Simon and Cheryl weren’t really up for letting them get close whereas this year we are getting to know Kelly [Rowland] and Gary [Barlow] really well.
