If you have a big, catchy melody on your mind, consider submitting it to Fiverr. The online marketplace, which connects freelancers to available jobs, has launched a contest called “The Big Hook” through which it hopes find a grabby musical anthem.
The Big Hook asks contests to submit a 30-second hook via a dedicated page on the Fiverr website. Once all of the hooks are collected, a public vote will narrow the selection down to the top 50 choices. From there, Fiverr will turn to six judges, who will choose a grand prize winner and two runners up.
Fiverr’s panel includes a number of judges who have established themselves on YouTube. Anthony Vincent, the man behind Ten Second Songs, will help select a winner, as will multi-instrumentalist Andrew Huang, pop artist Louisa Wendorff, and singer-songwriter Hannah Trigwell. The final two participating musicians are Christian Lopez and Whitney Coleman. All six...

YouTuber/musician/generally entertaining person Andrew Huang sent off 2014 with a medley of the year's biggest hits. Unlike other compilations, though, he composed his track with a unique selection of instruments. The Canadian creator played the "Hits of 2014" on ordinary household items, including shoes, cookware, and bottles.
Huang, who is known for his inventive musical creations, previously put together a video where he played "99 Red Balloons" on actual red balloons. This release resembles that one, but Huang cranks it up to eleven. There are red balloons, but also car doors, a bag of kale, and a salt shaker. With this motley assortment of instruments, Huang puts together a compelling medley, which runs through "Bang Bang," "Happy," "Shake It Off," and other significant Top 40 hits of the past year.
Huang's unusual instrumentation isn't limited to YouTube.

YouTubers consistently produce some of the most original and creative videos around, which is why we’re enamored with a new video from Andrew Huang. Yesterday, he released a video called “99 Red Balloons - played with red balloons,” and it’s incredible. The title doesn’t do Huang’s talent justice. The fact that he could pull different notes and sounds out of balloons, compile them together in a multitrack, and create a legitimate representation of the song “99 Red Balloons” is only something you can experience through audio and visuals: In the video, Huang said he wanted to create a cover for “99 Red Balloons” because he is currently touring in Germany. The song was released as “99 Luftballons” in 1983 by German band Nena, and Huang’s cover is an updated and epic nod to the original. Huang will next appear in England for his Team Andrew Tour and meet-ups. We can...

In this crazy-impressive video, Andrew Huang manages to play Nena's popular song "99 Luftballons" (later translated into "99 Red Balloons" by Goldfinger) using only red balloons. He jokes in the video's caption, "Thought about using 99 balloons, but it worked with 4 so mehhh." Even cooler? A split-screen effect lets you see how he pulls it off, with each window showing Andrew using a balloon to play a certain part of the song. Awesome, right? Watch the full performance above, then check out more must-see viral videos!

Darling Hopelandic band Sigur Rós has announced a new full-length, its seventh. The band is currently on tour; a full list of dates is below. The Icelandic band also released a dark, trippy new video for the first single, “Brennisteinn.” Shot by Andrew Huang, the clip comes in at a tight (for Sigur Rós) eight minutes long and comes off almost like a mini-horror movie, so enjoy ...

Why Watch? What if Charlie Kaufman and Salvador Dali got to film a live-action version of Fantasia? It’s a great question, and Andrew Huang‘s Solopsist comes close to answering it. It’s no wonder why it won the Special Jury Prize for Experimental Short at Slamdance this year. It’s an explosion of practical and special effects with no need for a narrative. Two women become one giant, furry technicolor beast; strange sea creatures offer up a symphony of snorts; and a young man turns to dust in vignettes that are evocative and visually arresting. Plus, after you pick your jaw up off the floor, you can see how they made the magic. What will it cost? Only 10 minutes. Skip Work. You’ve Got Time For More Short Films.

Winners of White House's 2011 Race to the Top Commencement Challenge got surprise of their lives at graduation ceremony.

Four years ago, Cassandra Henderson didn't want to attend Booker T. Washington High School because, as she put it, "I thought the same as everyone else: that it was a bad school with nothing but bad people in it." Now? Well, let's just say she's changed her opinion.
That's because, thanks to the commitment of Principal Alisha Kiner, the faculty and the students, not only has Booker T. Washington changed public opinion (posting math scores that are 20 percent higher and a 30 percent increase in graduation tends to do that), it has earned the attention of the nation, too, as the winner of the 2011 Race to the Top Commencement Challenge, a competition sponsored by Viacom,...

Justin Bieber certainly knows how to make the girls scream. In his episode of "Diary," set to air this Sunday at 7:30 p.m., it is clear that the dedication his fans have for him is similar what previous generations of girls felt for their teen idols. Andrew Huang, director and supervising Producer for the special, described the "frenzy" around Bieber as almost identical to one that surrounded Backstreet Boys and 'Nsync back in the day.
In February, Huang shadowed Bieber for four days in Paris and New York, and he said that he feels that the show captures a very specific moment in Bieber's career. "The thing that's interesting about his show is we caught him right before ... He's big, yeah, but we caught him [in the transition]," Huang said.
